Dos Santos out. https://www.mlssoccer.com/news/vancouver-whitecaps-part-ways-with-head-coach-marc-dos-santos
LETS FACE THE TRUTH- head coach MDS, should have been gone at the end of 2020 while i was a huge fav of his hiring, his serious flaws and MOSTLY, his inability to learn and alter his decisions did him in- the loss to CPL Pacific FC was just the final straw- on-going poor decision-making, stubbornness, wastage of signings, 2.5 years of poor results, loosing 2x to a second tier team and rhetoric of the same tune just wears thin, probably most with the players and obviously with the Club Pres and owners who were in the stands at the game on thursday- one can imagine that Pres Axel Schuster had some conversations with some of the mature players and the same story kept coming up having said that, i believe that MDS will reflect and adjust in order to continue his coaching journey- his passion for coaching and his love of the beautiful game is noteworthy- maybe a CPL position for 2022 will be on his radar as a side note, a commentator on GC , put out the name of ex-Cap assistant coach, Martyn Pert, who had ties with ex- coach, Carl Robinson-- why would an assistant coach at one of the EPL and europe's rising teams and an historic icon in the world- Manchester United- want to take on this task with a history of flakiness, poor ownership group and lack of ambition?? a rumor can be as dumb as dumb is but i do think that a coach with experience in europe will be hired (unless bob bradley, brian schmetzer, oscar pareja, peter vermes or bruce arena become available- this has zero or little chance of happening) and YES, Axel and his scouting staff have been working on this hiring for months - i wouldnt mind if the new head coach comes in for the final month or 2
In light of the Birada and Busby controversies, with Rach now gone from the operation, and with the Canucks already taking the lead in their own organization, I predict that ownership will be hiring a female assistant Technical Director to Schuster who would primarily be in charge of overseeing all Academy operations. It will be a high profile, highly respected individual who would become the face of that program....
i think first of all, that MLS and now FIFA will have to decide what to do with the ownership group of the Caps-- we all know that majority owner, greg kerfoot, had at least 1 meeting within the womens' group many years ago... and nothing changed and the 2 alleged coaches- busby and birarda- continued coaching !! there were also allegations about hazing and sexual assaults in the boys' academy it would seem to me that these womens' sexual allegations against people attached to the Caps (Rachel, the Lenarduzzi brothers and greg anderson- all gone or suspended) were summarily ignored, including by kerfoot, and these people need to be held accountable MLS got the RSL owner to sell the Club for supposedly making racist remarks- so it would seem to me that when the MLS report does come out, the same fate might happen to the Caps' ownership group the problem is-- who would be willing to pay the + $200 mill to buy the Club and keep it in the community with NO STADIUM OWNED ? an owned stadium is a major revenue producer for MLS Clubs- i fear that the franchise would be sold to some willing and wealthy owners in a USA city and relocated (like the NBA Grizzleys were)
I would be delighted to see Kerfoot out as owner. You are right, who would buy it in what is a market that has been hurt by years of rot and erosion of season tickets. If there was something that forced Kerfoot out, I would suspect they would ask Mallet to just take his part and be the owner. He carried Kerfoots water through all the reveal of the women's scandals and sold the company line and outright lied about spending over and over ; I don't know how he would do as owner. The SF Giants have been super successful under his ownership, but he stayed silent here so I wonder about his credibility. There is already plenty of evidence that has been released, that shows Kerfoot was CCd in email exchanges about Birarda, etc. Rachel would most certainly say she was following his marching orders to cover things up. So, who knows if that would get MLS to boot him out. Let's be honest, this gets minimal play by the jock sniffing media here who want their nice access to the club or have bosses who don't want Kerfoot pushed too hard; and women's abuse scandals seem to not be much of a priority to sports leagues. I suspect they will do the bare minimum at most.

Yeah, I can't help to think back on the horrible concussion he got while playing with us. Kudo was never the same after that.
This is a dead website, isn't it. Nobody gives a sh*t about this perpetually underachieving team. And since I won't pay for an Apple MLS Pass subscription, I will only see this team play 4 out of 10 times via traditional, tops, so why bother wasting my time with them and this league. It's not that great a product (it still needs gimmicks like the prospect of bringing in Messi to jack up subscription sales, because watching Russ Teibert backwards passing for another season isn't going cut it). The rest of the rubes can fall for this version of an email fraud scam, but I'm out. It's been a slice. Enjoy
Nobody was posting so I stopped checking nice to see a few voices here still. The Caps are the Caps. Kerfoot won't put money out of his wallet onto another good quality DP salary to go with Gauld. Vanni is a cool dude but not a great coach. So here we are.
