Going to Qatar 2022: tickets, accommodations, etc. (non-politics)

Hey how did u get past the Latin thing? I was able to use a different email for the guest profile thing, but my actual fifa account that is required for payment has an underscore in it.

 

GOD DAMMIT IT DOES NOT ACCEPT MY TICKET APPLICATION NUMBER!!!

How could this to be so stupid and expensive at the same time. Maddening.

 

I think the figure given at the lotto phase was: six tickets per match and up to 60 tickets total.

i just ended up using my brothers email address, but i had my buddy on the other end also booking just in case we ran into problems, which we did and he ended up paying for them because his email address didnt have any underscores or anything else deemed "latin"

I had "swimming pool" selected as a filter and it struck out the cruise ships, even though they have pools. Stupid, stupid website

 

Anybody found a good value among apartments?

 

I just booked my accommodations. But I don’t see my booking in the manage booking. But my CC payment is pending. Should I just wait for it to process?

 

I got my confirmation email and the dates are 1 day before for the check in and check out. Checked the website again and the correct dates are showing there, thankfully.

 

Do you know if the email/account who books accommodation has to match up with the person/account that has booked the tickets? If the email/account doesn’t matter I’ll book with my own email rather than my dad

 

just bagged 4 x tst7 for Switzerland !!!! plenty of choices still on TSTs.

 

Did anyone have problems trying to pay with a "Visa Debit" card?
I got constant "payment can't be made" whenever I tried to pay.
I called my bank and they saw no pending charges on the card.

Disappointing that I was in the queue and carted a TST and
payment wouldn't go though

Total BS. I can't book accommodation because FIFA doesn't seem to understand what a Canadian postal code looks like. What a mess this is, I'm starting to not want to even go to the WC anymore.

 

The fact that this was they could come up with in the last 8 years is astonoshing to be honest. What an absolute shit website.

 

Any word on hotels? Odd that those are not available!

 

Anyone managed to book accommodation using a Canadian postal code for billing? It's telling me it isn't canadian...it definitely is canadian...

 

It's so hard to know. It looks to me as though they have the apartments grouped into categories of price points and then there are several at each point. For my dates, it went like this (nightly prices):

Dorm Clusters: $85 to $105
First level apartments: $218.
Second level apartments: $242-$266
Third level apartments: $332-$362
Fourth level: $388
Fifth level: $420

And then it went up.

By far the most options were in the $388 level. There were dozens of nondescript apartments that all looked basically comparable at that price.

To me, the best value seemed to be the $242 level. I didn't see a huge upgrade in terms of location or anything else by moving up with the $332 level. I had about 8 options at $242 and so I just looked at each one and then looked at google maps to see what was nearby. I found one that looked to be about 1/4 of a mile from the metro and seemed to have some western style hotels and stuff nearby and some shops and cafes and I figured that was good enough.

I was feeling pretty fortunate that I had gotten tickets in the original round so that my ticket application number worked, and I figured that if I didn't grab a $240 place now there was a chance that it would not be available in a few days. I'm going during group games when things are likely to be crowded so I guess I just wanted to lock something in and pay a low enough price that if I have to cancel the 20 percent won't be too bad. I really wanted a hotel and if hotels turn up in the next couple of days in the $300 price point range I'll feel stupid but I suppose I can always cancel.

 

Which apartment did you get? What is the number of it?

 

3966. Looks tiny. Probably not more than a few rooms.

 

For my postal code I put a space half way through ( after the first 3 digits) and it worked for me. For some reason though it only allows Latin characters in the email address.

 

Looks okay and in fact, good location. The problem is that there are no single beds available.

 

Ahh. Yeah, I wasn't too concerned about beds.

 

We won TST7 Canada but did not get any email yet. Do you know if we should expect an email now or we will get details only if Canada qualifies ? Also as a guest (passport etc set correctly) to my friends account, can I apply for a Haiyya card and accommodation now ?
