I like him but its not amazing. Too many balls are too far from his feet. In higher league those balls are lost.
what I like is that he's still youngish (23) and in a spot where he CAN try those things... even if I agree that video was pretty up and down (too many loose touches, even slight, in the wrong places). I like what he brings relative to most other US players- similar to Musah with the desire and ability to turn and attack space with the ball instead of only off the pass. but to be next level he definitely needs to tighten up the touches and when/where he uses them...but getting to play in Holland seems like a good spot to develop those skills.
LDLT is the new shiny toy, so invariably his weaknesses are glossed over for a variety of reasons. He is better than what we have, told you our coach was stupid, etc, etc, etc. He is a nice option to have. He brings a different look, but he has his issues, and the higher up he goes the more it will show. If he could just add a little more production his stock, and vale would jump significantly.
Agreed. I think he's somewhat limited physically, which is why his decision making is so good. He doesn't have the wheels to get away from defenders so he has to think quicker. He's a good attacking midfielder player decently well in a good league. He's Benny Feilhaber. A nice piece to have but not one to build around.
Gotta love the double standard from moderators. I get BANNED from Pepi thread for commenting how a WCQ window could make Pepi overly tired, overly distracted for his duties with Augsburg (so a quick comment WCQ post but the post totally relating totally relevant to his play with Augsburg) Yet I feel certain all the video + commentary here on Luca's recent USMNT work will not get posters banned.
Yeah, some Moderators here are a tad overzealous. Just make sure your commentary and ideologies overlap and you will be untouchable.
Contract extension: Opties De La Torre, Quagliata en Bakboord gelicht ✔️#HeraclesAlmelo— Heracles Almelo (@HeraclesAlmelo) March 31, 2022
Just thinking out loud..... His contract, I recently saw on Transfermarkt, expired in June. With his current form, I assume, there could be possible interest from other clubs. I wonder if signing an extension was a goodwill move to say thank you giving me an opportunity and to repay your faith, I'll sign an extension guaranteeing the club with earn a transfer fee.
Obviously there could be a difference in meaning because of translation, but the linked article makes it sound like the club picked up their option.

This column names him MOTM: Man of the match: Luca de la Torre had won international matches with his country United States on the other side of the world, but turned out not to be tired in Sittard and was the best player on the field. https://www.tubantia.nl/nederlands-voetbal/rommens-rots-en-pavlidis-de-uitblinkers-onvoldoendes-voor-drommel-en-grbic~a6655e42/?referrer=https://t.co/
Very plausible. To which I'd add "there weren't any serious offers from clubs I wanted to join and, to be honest, I think I need another season or so here before thinking I'm ready for those kinds of moves. I've started every game I've been fit for this season, whereas last season I was subbed on a lot. This is an ambitious club and I'm an ambitious player. We're also realists*, so I think this is a great place to develop." * "the buyout clause is realistic and guarantees Heracles a well-deserved profit"
Which is a massive vote of confidence in him, of the kind that makes interested focus their attention. They're not happy to keep him. They want to keep him.
Anyone want to do a crowd funding thing to buy out his contract and make sure he gets a move to a better club this summer? I'm in for a couple hundy!
This looks way worse on second watch. No intent to play the ball and studs were high. https://t.co/soDuSyYXvF pic.twitter.com/cJzxer1r43— Daniel (@DanielSmith1022) April 4, 2022
I have no idea what the terms are, if there even is one. However, buyout clauses are virtually SOP these days and since there was a club option it would have been prudent for Luca's agent to have negotiated (some of) the details of that when signing. Like all Eredivise sides, Heracles sell to the Top 5 and the Big 3-5 of the Eredivisie and other leagues and they want a profit but Luca doesn't want to be priced out of a desirable move, so IMO something would have been agreed. Also Luca's father is Spanish. IIRC buyout clauses originated in Spain and have been near-mandatory there since a 1985 law tallowed players without a buyout clause in their contracts to unilaterally rescind their contracts for a compensation fee to be decided by the courts (which would terrify any club). He'd be more likely than the average soccer dad to be aware of the importance of a good buyout clause

Guys who play regularly, and aren‘t on top teams don‘t get love. It‘s either top players, youth or fanatsies! The won 1-0 against Groningen. Actually a very needed win. If they had lost they would have only been 4 points above the drop.
