Real Madrid were extremely successful when the team was built around Cristiano's strenghts to maximize his potential. Pre-2018 Benzema wasn't rated as a world class #9, but his skillsets made him an extraordinary fit alongside Cristiano.

I doubt the likes of Lewy/Zlatan/Suarez/Kane/Cavani/Falcao and others top tier strikers would've done a better job to getting the best out of CR7 like Benz did.

The same winning formula should be applied for Mbappe at Madrid.

I don't care if [insert young striker's name] is worse than Haaland individually as long as he accepts take a backseat for Mbappe and contributes tons of value to enchant Mbappe's game.

 

it’s a fallacy to look at Benz’s past injury history to predict his future fitness. He’s 34, and logging 90 ministers every game he plays. Blaming Carlo makes no sense. He’s got Jovic and Mariano who are completely useless as back ups.

If you look at Haaland, how he’s taken his career and how his father has raised him as a person and footballer you would see that he’s completely about the team and winning. If he’s going to only be here for 4/5 seasons as some speculate then I’m sure he’s willing to play for the team to win CL and league titles.

To say he’s a poacher, does not adequately describe his game. Yes he’s good at that, but he’s also very technically sound at passing, movement off ball and can shoot from distance. He’s a no 9 in the classic sense.

We missed out on Mbappe in 2017/18 and look how we suffered trying to replace him with some bad transfers in Hazard and been struggling for goals on the wing. Let’s avoid that again please and so the smart thing and get Haaland

His contract expires in 2025.

He should keep dreaming because those are free and due to that extension he agreed upon it's most likely as close as he will ever get.

Yeah I don't believe it ether because it contradicts her siding with Kylian to leave last summer. She made that clear publicly. She also said PSG cannot pull the "you promised you wouldn't leave for free" card now that they turned down 200 million for him lol. She's not stupid.

 

Serious question: what signings would you guys go for in the event we miss out on both Mbappe and Haaland? Who else is out there attacking wise ?

We are clearly in need of a RW and another 9 to replace/rotate with Benz ? But who for example?

Mane, Adeyemi, Bernardo Silva?

or drop the big money on midfield?

Tchouameni, Bellingham, Wirtz, Gravenberch, Barella ?

Man those attacking alternatives are depressing in comparison to Mbappe and Haaland.

We absolutely need another effective wide attacker to provide goals. Bernardo Silva isn’t that. Adeyemi will need time to develop. Mane is soon 30 so it’d be a 2/3 season stop gap but he is in the last year of his contract, he’s the clear move out of those options for me.

Midfield options are tough to say. I wouldn’t want us to spend the sort of money Dortmund would want for Bellingham, Barella imo is overrated we don’t need him when Fede and Camavinga are here, I’ve not seen enough of the others to really say much.

I’d really like us to go for a younger DM who has the ability to dictate play and create from behind the two flanking centre mids. @Saeta Rubia had mentioned Tchouameni has the ability to keep the ball ticking along better than Case but I don’t know if he’s that guy.
