100% Disagree, that is why Vela would never have gotten to the level of Hugo or Rafa.

Mentality and talent is the reason they got to where they were. Vela was/is missing la mentalidad.

I think it's good that you mentioned Griezmann, as I think he's the best example to put out there when talking about Vela.

During Vela's GOAT season with RS, he was better than Griezmann. Both were of similar age and both dealt with injuries at different points in their careers. Difference between the two? Griezmann wanted to take the next step at a bigger club while Vela was fine with going to the MLS at 27.

IMO, this is why you can't ignore mentality.

While it lacks context it’s important to not lose perspective.

I agree Vela didn’t have the mentality to be great but had the federation not singled him out he might have still played for country.

We've literally only had two other players with his talent... Hugo and Rafa...

This. People keep forgetting how FMF alienated him...

This is why I don't ever give shit to Mexican players retiring from NT before their times...

I still remember Tottenham officials covering his drunk ass with a jacket in the middle of London to avoid the media getting pictures. What could have been.

In 1 hour. I predict Mexico have no less than 15 shots at goal

Now if they are going to be on target idk jaja
