I have had multiple friends, a teammate and even a player many here know get falsely accused of abuse, with the woman injuring herself or having a friend do it in order to implicate for financial or vindictive reasons. The incident about the player some know (I won't say his name) the woman basically destroyed him when she actually was hitting herself in a bathroom. I repeat, I'm not defending any bad actions. Just want the facts before the hanging.
At the end of the day, do we "really" care? Most of us will have forgotten about this in two weeks. Him and his girl can deal with this. I'm not going to make their problems my own only because she took them public. Fact is though he doesn't sound like the brightest individual, so I can only assume what charmed this young lady into a relationship with him.
Reddit post long back about Greenwood's issues that wasn't public yet. Who's the Liverpool player 👀 pic.twitter.com/CFcFgQyIeo— UTDQatar 🇶🇦 (@jamanoor04) January 30, 2022 On the 18th January 2020 I was sexually assaulted by @LFC player #nabykeita.Reported it to @gmpolice and @MerseyPolice.With all evidence/recordings &calls where his people requested to meet to apologise, I was told that it was his word against mine.Fuck the system it failed me.— Pontso Dlamini (@popcornpontso) June 22, 2020
Exactly what I said before. She’s built her own case so this scumbag can’t go around denying it or sweep it under the carpet by enforcing his wealth and high end lawyers. Bravo girl
I always find it strange when people get so invested in the lives of people they don't know, wanting 'justice' in a situation they know nothing about. Isn't there enough to focus on in your own lives?
While not knowing much about a particular case, I'm of a firm stance that police and judicial system exist for a reason and that due process and evidence based trial should happen before any societal consequences for the accused person. No system is perfect and cases like the one described below can happen. Notice, I'm not saying anything about the truth of the claim. That is why I think it is important for us as a society to decouple taking care of a person who claims being hurt, and punitive action if the state is a consequence of a proven wrongful action.
domestic violence and happen to women every day, but when there is a high profile and high influence person, people want Justice because that person influences others. People look up to people like Greenwood and if he can get away with it, it sends the message that it’s okay to act that way. Also, having daughters, I despise this behavior from man
That's kinda silly though; you want people to be invested in these players on the pitch, but ignore everything that's off the pitch? It's part and parcel of the business of being rich and famous.
Man United already have Cristiano who paid off the woman he raped and then documents signed by his lawyers and himself admitting to forcing himself on her. And now this shite....
I get that. On the other hand people that support the club for example would be interested to know if the player they’re watching week in week out is a despicable human being or not. Similar to how Real Madrid supports might feel about Mendy.
Cristiano got away with it due to lack of evidence and used “consenting" with his lawyers (lol ok) This woman is smart. Built up her own evidence as she knew it was unlikely people would believe her. Take it to court and he'll be sharing the same cell as Mendy and Sigurdson in no time. To think, my daughter had a picture taken with this animal.
I get this to some extent. You want your club represented well. I don't really get the 'people look up to him' argument but fair enough too. I think generally I'm trying my best to enjoy the football for the 90 mins that matter and not the endless amount of other bullshit surrounding it that makes me really not enjoy it.
Let's just clear up the timeline here: In 2016, Der Spiegel and FootballLeaks reveal that Ronaldo evaded taxes on a massive scale. Ronaldo sues Der Spiegel over the tax evasion allegations, and eventually loses the lawsuit. Ronaldo eventually admits guilt to the tax evasion and pays a massive fine in large part due to the evidence collected by Footballleaks. In 2018, Der Spiegel and FootballLeaks now reveal emails between Ronaldo and his lawyers, including a questionnaire which showed Ronaldo admitting to raping Kathryn Mayorga. Ronaldo's lawyers threaten legal action again (just like with the tax evasion details). Except this time, no lawsuit is ever actually filed. This is never followed up on. So ask yourself, shouldn't you give legitimate credence to evidence from the same source that got Ronaldo convicted of tax evasion? And why did Ronaldo sue Der Spiegel over tax evasion allegations, but not the rape allegations? Hint: losing a libel case for tax evasion doesn't really impact your popularity, but losing a libel case for rape allegations....
Manchester United's Mason Greenwood has been arrested on suspicion of rape and assault. United have announced that Greenwood, 20, will not play or train while police and the club work to establish the full circumstances around images and an audio file that circulated on social media on Sunday. A Greater Manchester Police statement said: "Greater Manchester Police were made aware earlier today (Sunday 30 January) of online social media images and videos posted by a woman reporting incidents of physical violence. An investigation was launched and following enquiries we can confirm a man in his 20s has since been arrested on suspicion of rape and assault. He remains in custody for questioning. Enquiries are ongoing." A statement issued by United read: "Mason Greenwood will not return to training or play matches until further notice." https://www.espn.in/football/manche...allegations-manchester-united-issue-statement
All makes sense why Mason was dropped from the England side. If the club knew about the rumours at the time and failed to investigate, god it’s going to backfire on them also.
Let's say you made it as a footballer, you were playing for Arsenal, were in your early 30s and haven't won a league or European title throughout your career. Barcelona came knocking, offered to increase your salary by around 50% and gave you a somewhat realistic chance of winning that major trophy before you retire. As much of a Real Madrid fan as you are now, would you join? Personally, I couldn't do it. I'm not even one of those passionate football fans (I don't watch every game or know the history inside out) yet I know I'll feel strange just wearing the kit Definite no from me.
What's heroic about hiring a guy with a heart condition? I think it's pretty irresponsible as far as I'm concerned.
