The sad thing is that I cant think of any…I cannot fathom how this team cannot score one goal in six games..not even a bs lucky goal it literally almost took an own goal to get one. Its embarrassing.
Pekerman should have been fired but replaced by someone better. we did a bad replacement then another bad replacement that doesn’t mean Pekerman should have stayed. carlos Sanchez would still be starting so any of these bright ideas of beating Venezuela for the miracle win…. Haha I think we have a better chance beating Argentina in Argentina
Boy, what a horrible result. Of course Ospina was at fault for not covering his post but that doesnt take away that we really have no team. None. We don't have a serious tarting 11 that we know we can always count on. I've been complaining about James + Falcao who are well past their prime. James had an ok 1st half but the guy was spent after the 1st half yet Rueda insisted on the entire 90+ minutes. Cuadrado completely useless. Diaz didnt want to be there today. But what an embarrassing display. I'll add this much. Rueda has no place in this NT. He is completely overwhelmed and out of ideas. The fact that he still doesn't have a true field captain should tell you enough about his vision. Pathetic display today.
So exhausted emotionally after that. Ospina: 2 - Only had to make one stop all game and missed it to his own post. Worth asking if he was healthy enough to play because that should have been routine. Cuadrado: 3 - Mr. Hyde. His legs seemed to tremble with stress when he got into attacking positions. Seen on camera taking corners and free kicks from James that he shouldn't have been taking. Mina: 4 - Caught out of position on their goal because he was trying to play as an extra striker. Almost drew a penalty but Cuadrado was offside. Ironically, had the best shot of the game for Colombia from distance. Davinson: 3 - Just generally stresses me out. Mojica: 3 - So much work with 0 output. Simply couldn't beat the first man with his crosses and his uselessness offensively seemed to kill the vibe of the whole team. Barrios: 3 - Killed several attacks trying to get involved in the offense and then short circuiting mentally. One good dummy that freed Falcao for an unmarked shot at goal... Uribe: 5 - Actually liked some of what Uribe did today. He was spraying the ball better than I am used to from him and really making an effort to run down possession. James: 5 - His first touch let him down at the start, but once he settled he was the only one with any clarity to his game. One gorgeous throughball that 2014 Falcao buries... But sadly it's not 2014 anymore and James is kinda slow and Falcao almost maimed the keeper clumsily... Had some of our more promising shots from distance but none actually challenged the keeper. Diaz: 4 - Tired badly as the game progressed with less and less impact. Was stifled by how clogged the Peruvians made the last third. Borre: 3 - Just didn't do much. Seemed unwilling to attack/shoot and hesitant. (Commentators kept confusing him with James) Falcao: 3 - If I could turn back time. Had probably the best chance we've had since Zapata at Uruguay and kneed it. Struggled to make clean contact on anything. I wish he had come on as a sub as the game became messy as that's when his leadership and maturity would have made a difference. Subs: Borja: 3 - No impact. Morelos must wonder what he did to Rueda. Borja was coming off a poor start in Florida and his league just started. Alzate: 5 - I don't understand the choice to bring him on for Borré at all, but he recovered well and almost set up a goal. Chara: ? - WHY. The turnover that lead to their goal was so obviously not gonna work. I shouted 'what are you thinking?' at the tv quickly by the Darth Vader 'Nooo' as the counter exploded and it was clear they'd have a shot on Ospina. With as aggressive as we were pushing up you can't be that careless. Hinestroza N/A - why not sub him for Mojica 30 minutes earlier if you wanted more attack from that side. Seemed to just want to iso when he came in though. Rueda: 2 - Simply waited too long to adjust his scheme and when he did...the subs were bizarre. His team played with no urgency to end the first half and then played with no composure to end it (and his homeboy made the critical mistake that cost the game) - that's on the coach. Brutal.
Let me jump on the Rueda sucks bandwagon. Wow, is this all we have. Give the ball the an average player (Mojica) and watch him cross the ball over and over and over? Is that the only game plan we have? Yimmy, our supersub? Seriously? Total waste of talent. We can still qualify but I don't expect much the rest of the way. We just don't want to qualify.
Rueda I would rate a 1 and has ALL the blame. +Diaz was AWFUL today. Zero impact. Yet Rueda Kept him all game. +James was trying but his timing, pace and even shooting were ineffective in such a critical match. He looked exhausted by the 2nd half. He should not be starting. Yet Rueda kept him all game. +Falcao - see James comments + add that he looked even slower than James and that's saying a lot. Yet Rueda started him. +Ospina - had as you mentioned 1 job. And he failed. BUT was he not 100%? Yet Rueda kept him all game. +Barrios - you have got to be kidding me. The guy was the closest to MOTM we had tonight. He only shows up because there's no one else that will. +CBs - meh, they weren't really tested and if it wasn't for Peru being so passive maybe we would have more 'data' on today. They grew despereate as time went on and started to take bigger risk (Mina specially) to look for the goal. Yet Rueda never corrected it and left the back vulnerable. +C4 - awful. He's been awful for at least 2 years and .... Yet Rueda kept him all game. +Subs - worst read of a game I've seen yet.
That would see Colombia finish with 23 points. Ecuador already has 24. Uruguay has 19, they play Venezuela at home next so they "should" reach 22. Then they play Peru at home and the last game against a probably eliminated Chile. Peru now has 20 and they play Ecuador and Paraguay at home, other than the Uruguay away game. So, in short Colombia must win at least 7 of the last 9 points to have any realistic chance. The worst thing for Colombia is that if both Uruguay and Peru win their next game and Colombia doesn't win in Argentina, they can easily agree to a draw when they play each other...
Correct. My Sunday co-Ed team captain can manage subs better than Rueda. Is there a rule that Colombian managers have to always make wacky choices for subs. At this point I nominate villus or crzdcolombian to manage the team. 6 games without a goal is an abomination.
This won't happen, I don't think either Uruguay or Peru will risk a direct ticket. We agreed last time cos we hadn't been to a World Cup in 36 years and took the repechaje as a "take it or lose it" deal.
Its so embarrassing how bad we've been. The players tried their hardest today, all of them were intense and I can't fault their effort, the game plan was non existent and the execution was pisspoor. Why was Morelos and Valoyes not in the squad? I almost want us to fire Rueda today because I'm not sure its possible to be worse and his formations/lineups and subs are bizarre at this point.
Falcao complete 1/4 passes today. Our starting center forward completed one pass in 66 minutes, how on earth is this real?
Centros entre Cuadrado y Mojica:* Mojica: 13 intentados, 3 completados. 24 pérdidas. * Cuadrado: 13 intentados, 3 completados. 17 pérdidas.A eso jugó Colombia en gran parte del duelo contra Perú hoy. Llegaron algunas chances claritas, pero fue más lo errático.— Gonzalo De Feliche (@GonzaDeFeliche) January 28, 2022
What he should say is “I deserve to be fired for not being able to score 1 goal in 6 games” https://www.instagram.com/p/CZTBHFgMaUM/?utm_medium=copy_link
He should say "I resign", honestly everyone was open to him getting the job and he had a lot of good faith but honestly this is a really poor job over a large sample size of games.
It was the weirdest of things to see Diaz step back and give the ball to Mojica so he could send a cross too low, too high or out of bounds. Rueda had no clear setting for how to deliver those crossings or an alternative for when Peru crowded the middle. There’s a point where you either send your CBs in and put everything in there, or set a lot of dribbling near the area in hopes of a free kick or a Pk; the team was just standing around the box and passing the ball to the sides with the same results over and over again.
The guy that needs to step down is Jesurun from the Fed. This is two consecutive awful appointments after firing our best coach in recent memory over nonsense.
