Mr. Berry, the Cosmos can do exactly what Queensboro is doing, but that isn't a long term solution. Since Rocco Commisso bought Fiorentina he has built a new training facility for them and is trying to build a new stadium in an effort to bring the club higher sustainable revenues and add better players [with higher pay and better facilities]. He tried to do the same in NY but has moved on, I don't blame him one bit. I hope Queensboro does well, it will not be easy.
I do wonder why the Cosmos never tried playing at the Rocco B. Commisso Soccer Stadium at Columbia University. You'd think he'd get a discount on the rent.
The Cosmos played US Open Cup games there and I believe, some NISA games. The stadium is on the very north tip of Manhattan and isn't the easiest to get to even by subway [local trains are slower].
New Amsterdam owner speaks out on Open Cup and NISA issues - Once A Metro Worth reading ... continuation of the complaints about the NISA Commissioner, the lack of transparency, and financial issues that came up when DCFC left.
NAFC seems to have gone into full meltdown mode on Twitter. It’s a sight to see. https://twitter.com/nafcnyc?s=21
I'm shocked. Who could've saw this coming? /sarcasm Normally I want dig up old posts I've made here being skeptical about the league, criticizing the team operations, making comparisons to NASL but I'll let the schadenfreude do the talking. I TOLD YOU SO.
How about going to USSF about creating a regional pro/am D4? Or talking with UPSL about a national Premier League?
----------------------- Hard to believe this is the same Peter Wilt that once worked with the Chicago Fire and Indy 11 set ups. Why would he drop down to the circus of these lower levels on the fantasy of pro-rel or whatever else they dream of? NASL > NISA > NPSL is a wonderful dream, but the harsh reality they are doomed to die a slow death, or in NASL case, already dead. I just don't understand the egos of people sometimes who keep creating new leagues when we have plenty of levels already. It sounds like if they can't be top dog, then they don't really want work with our existing structures. This is on league levels. At least on club levels, you see teams jumping up or dropping down and changing leagues even. THEY are the ones that care enough about the game of soccer that they are trying to keep their teams running in a league that best fits them. All this leads me to say, its time that the USSF start to sanction and set minimum expectations of these lower levels once and for all to end the constant circus of team and leagues coming and going. We starting to see stability of MLS - USLC - USL-1 (Jury out on USL-2 teams, but the league is solid) Time to extend that down one or 2 more levels
I think if you want to develop a grass roots league you need to focus on linking up the 500+ teams in the existing semi-pro/pro-am leagues. UPSL - 300+ teams NPSL - 92 teams USL League 2 - 84 teams NISA Nation - 24 teams Cosmopolitan League - 112 teams
Remember when Robert Palmer talked about starting a Division Zero league!? This has similar vibes to that. Personally, if I were Peter Wilt, I'd return to the USL and breathe new life to the Green Bay Voyageurs franchise that shut down several days ago. As I've often said, the U.S. sports landscape and its culture does NOT allow for Pro/Rel to be implemented.
1488667635202068487 is not a valid tweet id "many teams are in already. you don't know her. she lives in canada." "many teams are in already. mike lindell will be announcing them shortly." it wasn't the league's fault you both generated $7.14 in revenue. goalies should not own teams, and d3 teams should stay away from cities ranked in the top 10 biggest metros. any league in which these are the anchor teams is certain to be a disaster.
Very Trumpian language there. "Many teams already!" "NISA? Never heard of it. 40 markets already lined up in my new league. I have knowledge in soccer. Tremendous knowledge"
Peter Wilt: I'm gonna make my own open league that has pro/rel... with blackjack, and hookers! (Uh... again?)
NISA Announces 2022 Season Schedule | National Independent Soccer Association ...you think? Ah, yes such strong vetting process and team owners... ...like ALBION San Diego, "Syracuse Pulse" and New Amsterdam, right? Nothing creates a viable professional soccer environment like asking Detroit City to pay an exit fee and two teams having to opt out of playing.
nice touch, not even mentioning chicago and new amsterdam. they basically put their hands in their pockets, looked up at the ceiling and whistled on that one. I am confused about what the "extra" 40 games are. nine home, nine away, that's 90, and they have 130. what does "plus regional play" mean?
AC Syracuse, aka Syracuse Pulse is another pay to play academy team. This isn't community grass roots soccer as we know it.
so everybody twice, but also some folks four times for 26 games overall. okay. odd that valley united's venue is listed as tbd. I thought they were playing at a local college there.
