The most boggling thing is that on the pitch you did enough to stay in the Championship last season and yet out of the 3 relegated teams you've struggled the most to adapt to League One football. Is it just the difference in how football is played? wrong type of players? player attitude? bad management? answers on a post card please. Six points off the play offs now... you'd think Chansiri would try for new manager bounce before it's too late unless he's content with being in League One.
2-0 to the Wednesday. 4 points off the playoffs now with a game in hand. Could yet get exciting. Dean, Windass, and Dele-Bashiru all off injured, though. If any of those are serious, it could be costly. Wednesday's injuries record this year has been dreadful. Oh, and Darren Moore has apparently come down with Covid yet again. Hopefully it won't hit him as hard as last time. Get well soon, gaffer.
I absolutely love that we've won 2 in a row and not budged an inch up the table. That's just so Wednesday. So. Wednesday.
It's tough to make up ground at the top of the table, where everybody's winning. Only three points off Wycombe, and 4, 5, and 6, respectively, off Oxford, Sunderland, and MKDons, the latter three of which Wednesday have a game in hand against. Win that game, and positions 3-7 become very tight, indeed.
That's a pretty big ask. 13 points off Rotherham (who are pissing it) and seven off Wigan who have three games in hand. Not only would Wednesday have to find some Dave-Jones-2012-type form down the stretch, but Wigan would need to hit a Ched-Evans-has-just-been-suspended-for-extreme-naughtiness-type roadbump to slow them down. Not impossible, I suppose, but not likely. I think we'll have to settle for being in good form come the playoffs - which I can much more easily envision.
