I wish I had a Twitter to chime in on. It’s just been too many years of poor effort by Klein and the rest. I don’t think we need to win the cup every year. In fact as a fan of MLS I hope we aren’t just a one team league but we should at the very least be a dangerous team every year. When the Galaxy comes to town I want the opposing coach to warn his players that it’s a big game today. We have the name and the hardware and the FO shouldn’t let that get away from us. If I was AEG I would be worried that it would start cutting the value of the team. it’s not even like we need huge signings like Zlatan. We just need some competence up top and Klein and Kirovski aren’t that for me.
Blocking some of your biggest fans on Twitter is a self defeating move if you ask me. Quiet times. Leadership needs to address the fans concerns at this point. Continued silence just makes things worse.
Seems like Portland is having trouble tying Sebastian Blanco down to a new contract. How would we all feel about Blanco as a DP?
That new signing better work out is all I'm saying. They've had all off-season or more if they decided to drop Jona and Lletget before then. The natives are restless and another miss at the DP level is going to get more fans to the tipping point. Onr more year of "rebuilding" with nothing to show for the year is all it may take at this point.
Nice to hear from Vanney at least, that he sees the need. How can they have something "for sure" lined up before opening day but not be able to announce it yet? I'm trying to imagine what that scenario is and coming up blank. Here's the link: https://www.latimes.com/newsletter/2022-01-18/galaxy-lafc-orange-county “There may even have been a little bit of complacency at one point, thinking we were in such a good position that we were going to make the playoffs.” I'm sorry but if that ever happens again, they need to give me a call. I'll set them straight. I never felt very comfortable about the playoffs. You could feel the wheels falling off in slow motion.
Hmmmm... could this be the guy that GV is alluding to when he says more people will be signed by beginning of season? This could be our new DP. No more french guys. No more "he needs a year to adjust" BS and is good to go!
🚨 #LAGalaxy DP Update: According to @kbaxter11 during @GalaxyPodcast show, Greg Vanney says that he expects to have a “game-changing player”in the next couple of weeks. The Galaxy don’t want to wait until the summer to get their third Designated Player. pic.twitter.com/a1VfA7oulM— Alex Ruiz (@AlxRuiz15) January 18, 2022
I remember reading (or maybe hearing this in CoG) that we are expecting a TAM or DP level player from within MLS. My thought is that it has to be Arriola (looks like he’s heading to Mexico) or Blanco. I’m watching Alaves play Betis right now. Betis has Diego Lainez (Mexico international) on the bench and he hasn’t played much. I wonder if a loan is possible? He needs playing time. It’s a World Cup year.
I added to the nastiness. Well not nasty, but I made my opinion of Klein’s performance known and my druthers for #kleinout.
True dat. Vanney at least says he’s adding more pieces, including a “difference maker’ (who I will call DM) who can be announced in a “couple weeks.” So everything depends on who the DM and pieces are. If it’s a great DM and high quality pieces we could be in good shape. If it’s a meh DM and the pieces are weak journeymen then get ready for year 6 of The Troubles.
Agreed. At a time when you're trying to get people to renew tickets and drum up excitement, it's a little shocking we haven't heard some reassurance from the leadership.
He seems to be much less of a sure bet as a DP than Rusnak, I think. Fills a position of need but only made 12 starts last year (though he put up good numbers in that time 7g,7a), which I imagine was the source of the contract discussions in Portland. If we can get him for sub-DP funds, it's a big win. But maybe that's haughty thinking given we still have literally nobody lined up. Question might be, would you rather use a DP spot on Blanco or Arriola?
We just did. Finally. Kinda, sorta. And by leadership, I mean Vanney. And by we, I mean the 2% of the fan base who read BS or follow Galaxy tweets closely. The other 98% - not so much.
Richard Sanchez is a 𝔊.#LAGalaxy sign free agent goalkeeper @richsanz45 ✨— LA Galaxy (@LAGalaxy) January 18, 2022 GK Richard Sanchez signed, probably to be #3 behind Bond and Klinsmann. It probably means Eric Lopez is gone and I don't like it. The @LAGalaxy re-signed MF Victor Vazquez, pending @MLS approval, and signed free-agent GK Richard Sanchez, 27, who last played for North Texas SC in USL League One. Sanchez is a native of Mission Hills who also played with FC Dallas, SKC and the Chicago Fire and in Liga MX— Kevin Baxter 🇺🇦🏳️🌈 (@kbaxter11) January 18, 2022 Vazquez is staying too.

Can't hurt to have some more experience there. Did Klinsman leave? Vasquez, we knew about of course.
For Blanco: Age? Why only 12 starts? Assume injuries but what kind, how bad and how recent? Injuries just last season or recurring season after season? Why would anyone want to let go of a player who produced 14 g+a in 12 games, which is a massive per minute production? Need answers to all of those questions before I could make an informed choice between the two.
The contract for Vazquez, who turns 35 this week, is one year with an option for 2023. The @LAGalaxy are expected to announce another midfield signing in the coming days— Kevin Baxter 🇺🇦🏳️🌈 (@kbaxter11) January 18, 2022 Could be a DM, a CAM, or a winger. We'll see.
RUMOR: The LA Galaxy are in the final stages of acquiring midfielder Marky Delgado from Toronto FC, sources have confirmed. Delgado is expected to be a TAM player and a trade with TOR is coming in the next days. Awaiting league approval. #LAGalaxy #MLS #TFC— Corner Of The Galaxy (@GalaxyPodcast) January 18, 2022 He's 26 and primarily a defensive midfielder. And, clearly the coach is confident in him. I like the idea of a TAM DM upgrade and the ability to allow Raveleson to push forward without DM duties. RR is a good player but he is no DM.
Well, I guess that's what I mean. Baxter had to corner Vanney to get those answers, they weren't really forthcoming from the FO.
Delgado is more of a box-to-box. It's still early to tell but this signing doesn't guarantee Raveloson will not play DM this season.
Sanchez is a hard player to figure out. Tons of talent, as evidenced by two stints abroad and starting experience in MLS, but has never stuck with anyone. He left Dallas to join the U16 squad at Atletico Madrid, came back to FC Dallas and was a homegrown, sold to Tigres, and then started 24 games for the Chicago Fire in his first full season in MLS in 2018 after he came back to the league in the allocation draft. Since then, he hasn't done all that much. Played a couple of games with SKC in 2020 and seemed to go to North Texas SC last spring just to get some games. The question is why we signed him instead of keeping Lopez or Vom Steeg. He's too old to be considered developmental. He could be a starter for the G2s in their last USL-C season, while satisfying the requirement that the Galaxy have three keepers. That would give us a third string keeper that you could actually play in an MLS game if necessary and not worry that he hasn't been there before and it could stabilize a young team. But he doesn't sound like someone they are grooming for the future. Maybe he has the advantage of being someone they could use as a backup in some senior games to give Klinsmann more games with the G2s, since he is still fairly young and really hasn't gotten many games the last few years himself.
Not that this bothers me, but Delgado is another former Chivas USA player. Homegrown for them (he's from the Glendora/Pomona area). Add him to Sacha, Vanney, and Villafana. Delgado formed a good pair with Vazquez back in Toronto. It would be nice to have a few more guys who know what Vanney wants. He's also fairly young still, so this isn't a last legs signing like Victor.
