I dont think it will be. It is not ripping the club apart; the people who are connected to this scandal are on their way out (about bloody time). Axel is facing this head on which will impress the players.

The Birarda scandal didn't affect the first team players (the team sucked anyways).

This is is more important than wins and losses. I hope everyone gets held accountable.

My fantasy land outcome is enough dirt is brought up that the MLS gets Kerfoot to sell the club. NOT to Mallet as he blatantly lied and shilled after the so called "women's report" and during that whole process. Nash obviously is a lost cause.

It all starts with the owner who enabled Lewis and her cohorts and gave them marching orders.

I think what is even more disgraceful is when they had this "independent investigation" into Birarda, they just happened to not mention they dismissed the next coach for the same thing! Bunch of scumbags as far as i am concerned.

Axel can save our club to come degree; but until Kerfoot is gone; there can not be true change.

    GAME AT LAFC-- 1-1-- gut-wrenching analysis :

    1. POTM- Max Crepeau
was stellar and his sure hands and superb reflexes made many saves

    2. SOTM- Supporters Of The Match were all of us who endured the drama- nail-biting time for 94 minutes

    3. Candy time- we stole a point and get the sweet taste of claiming 1 point

    4. Why now ???- Seattle comes into BC Place with a full roster for the first time in months- all their DPs are back- and they want 3 points to take the west conference

    5. What do we need- 1 point from sunday's game - our MF will have to be much better than tonight

    6. Extra hurt- watching cavallini's right knee buckle numerous times

    carnifex2005 and kaburu repped this.

Cava's career is going on a bad direction. I think his agent's dreams of getting him to Spain are getting unlikely. Canada just added another striker today so he falls further down.

He may end up in the CPL or back to a 2nd or 3rd division Uruguayan club at some point in the not too distant future.

If the Caps get through, the club should hold him back for medical reasons to make sure that he is as healthy as possible for the playoffs. Even if he is not the starter anymore and his play has been poor, he can still possibly make a difference off the bench. If he is not available, there is no one else at forward (Ricketts is crocked up worse and please don't tell me Raposo).

for some strange reason, Canada head coach, john herdman, has called up the injured cavallini to the national team games this coming 2 weeks - he can barely run and he certainly cant turn on his injured right knee- he is more a liability than an asset

the looming question for the Caps and Lucas is if he returns for 2022, the last year of his excessive contract

i believe the MLS allows a Club to release 1 player- it would save the Caps his salary and DP spot-

Cava could take the free money and not play, or take a buy-out and the Caps sell him off to another club which, i think, is the best scenario for him and the Club

CPL NEWS- team on the way to the Lower mainland

the ownership group from Pacific FC is investing in a CPL team due to be on the field by 2023

location TBD- but it says that it has to be on the SKYTRAIN -- so take your guess between burnaby to langley- connecting the dots- an extension of SKYTRAIN from Surrey Central to langley 203rd has begun

and we know there is the new upstart League1BC- so soccer's imprint is enlarging

personally, i dont want the Whitecap ownership - as it is today- involved as they lack integrity

maybe its a combo deal between surrey and langley or just one of them

    How about Valley FC ??

    this is good news

You are drinking the KOOLAID mr potato!

It was a fun few months and a great reprieve from the long years of the Kerfoot regime. Hopefully with the rot of Lewis and Anderson out of there, Axel will be able to continue to rehab this organization. I just hope Kerfoot gets the message about what is possible if they actually care about winning.

I also have a wild prediction that he will have to sell the club in the next 2 years. This Busby/Birarda investigation may very well look bad for him as he was knee deep with Lewis running the cover up back then (or so it seems). MLS has forced an owner out before.

    hey OLD MAN

i agree with you- i hope we do get new owners who actually care about this Club- one of the best things that happened is that somehow some magical fairy dust dropped on the owners' thick skulls and Axel was hired

i can imagine that kerfoot is in in therapy for having to chop out lewis and anderson, but i think MLS HQ s exercised some muscle, with more to come

getting a new FO staff will take us to a new PROFESSIONAL level that has integrity and expertise- new owners invested financially and emotionally in the Club would be cherry on the cake

and i would bring the koolaid

What i like about Axel is he truly seems to give a care and wants this to be a top club in the league. He seems to have got Kerfoot to come along a tiny bit by spending Gauld and dismissing the cancerous Lewis and Anderson. However, I will always wonder how far he will go before Axel will just say "im done with this". That worries me, Axel is too good for this club it seems.

In saying that, I do hope the womens' investigation results in Kerfoot being booted out. I disrespect Mallet because he has kept selling Kerfoots vision without any pushback; so I would like him out too. But if he bought it perhaps he would stop being a lackey and do things different. His baseball team has been highly successful under his ownership; so he does know something.

Re: sexual harassment complaints from 2008-2021: and the beat goes on... and on... and on

dug this up from 3 years ago- Whitecaps FC didn't attempt to 'cover-up' sexual harassment allegations, report finds | CTV News

and of course, we now know the owners and some FO staff did - another victim has come forward today, detailing 50 text messages that were ignored by the Club

i have always wanted a new ownership group and the only way that happens is if MLS HQs demand a sale, much like what happened in RSL

the problem is- who in the Vancouver/canada area would invest hundreds of millions of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ to invest in a Club that has NO stadium and is in a relatively small-medium sized market ? we dont want an american owner who would probably do a Grizzley NBA move

i expect more 'victims' to come forward -

the team and FO are on a very positive direction and would hate to loose the Club to a USA market

the ownership group is a disgrace

That report was paid for by the Caps. Here are some flaws that made that report useless

1 - They did not reveal Busby also had allegations
2 - it did not address why the CSA kept quiet and allowed him to coach
3 - it did not investigate why the Caps did not say anything when Birarda's future club would have contacted them for a reference
4 - it did not collaborate with the women who did come forward, Ciara did say she was not involved in a meaningful way in this report
5 - additional players did not come forward to share information with this investigation because it was commissioned by the Whitecaps
6 - The day it came out the media sports guys for the most part, just said "oh, great, you didnt' do anything wrong but you can learn from this!" and it was essentially not talked bout again

What we have learned since this report

    Busby
Additional players have told stories about Birarda
Sydney Leroux chose the US because of Birarda and the program he was running
One player has shared a significant volume of text messages from Birarda that were sent to the club and not acted upon
The underlying threat that the youth players had at the time to "play for the whitecaps women or you may not get promoted to the senior team" has not been fleshed out
There is a staggering amount of names of players from those rosters that did not move to the senior team, or outright quit playing. Some have come forward but there are likely more

I don't know what this current report by MLS will reveal. But what we do have is all executives from that era are on leave, and will not be back as far as I am concerned. I do hope enough players come forward or send material so the league is forced to demand Kerfoot sell the club as his hands are all over this issue and cover up. His default is to stay in the shadows as a person and that certainly is how the business was run

Axel seems like a stand up guy and so far I trust he will accept whatever ugliness comes from this and do something about it.

the major problem with MLS forcing the owners to sell the Caps is...

WHO THE HELL IN THE VANCOUVER MARKET IS GOING TO FORK OUT HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS FOR A TEAM WITH NO STADIUM OR SALES REVENUE ???

LUCAS CAVALINNI-- well, surprisingly, he was selected for the next round of WC 2022 qualifying

WHAT DID I SEE ?- a slimmer, fitter player set on turning his professional soccer career around- he looks injury-free

WHAT DO I HOPE FOR ?- eat some humble pie for chewing on his performance for 2020 and 2021 and see lucas as a formidable attacker that we paid a lot of $$$$$$$$$$ for -- it would be a bonus heading into the season as we are shallow in attacking options

HIS FUTURE- get his form back and either get traded for bonus money in the summer, or end his contract december 31 and look for a new contract... someplace
