We were definitely a better team when BHI was in the game, and we took a nose-dive when he was out injured. Moves the ball well, not afraid to make the goalie pay attention from distance. I like the signing.
NEW: I've confirmed #Crew96 have signed Ghanaian winger Yaw Yeboah. A couple details on contract in the story. https://t.co/0TbopGD5Ub— Jacob Myers (@_jcmyers) January 5, 2022
If his preferred position is RW, I can see why DC United wouldn't want to pay a $2M fee + a TAM type salary for him with Gressel and Arriola still around.
D.C. United open to trade offers for leading scorer Ola Kamara, sources say. Details: #dcu #mls https://t.co/VNVnVJa9Iv— Steven Goff (@SoccerInsider) January 6, 2022
He was our leading scorer, yes, but about half were PKs. And he couldn't do much on his own and he needed good crosses from the wings. So when opposing defenses concentrated on Gressel, Ola was no-la
Goff reported they've been looking at a third DP last month, so that's nothing new. However, I'm not a fan of trading Kamara unless the team actually acquires a legit DP striker to replace him.
We'll get GarberBucks™ and "draft considerations for a future date" which will turn out to be a 5th round pick in 6 years.
And some depth, because there was no one behind him that showed that they could be the long term go to in case of an injury. Same at keeper.
I was never all that impressed with Kamara despite his numbers, but with his big year behind him it is probably the best time to move him. To me the real key to a successful 2022 is not just who we get to replace him but whether Flores lives up to his reputation (and salary!). If Flores shows up, he should make almost any decent striker look good.
By the end of the season, I started to have more confidence in Robertha. Sometimes a youngster just needs to be handed the keys for a stretch of games. Now that he knows the system and has gotten real feedback for a season, I think he is primed for a breakthrough.
Yes, Albert Rusnak has been linked with just about every team on the planet of late, here's another one. I'm hearing from multiple sources that #DCU has entered the fray. One source said "talks are accelerating" though it's unclear just how close it is to getting over the line.— Jeff Carlisle (@JeffreyCarlisle) January 7, 2022
Well, Rusnak would definitely command DP bucks. On the other side, he's not an international, and it's clear he can handle MLS. Do it, DC.
Is Rusnak a midfielder or a forward? Does he fit Losada's style? I've seen his highlights, but I can't say I've seen him play a full game... at least not one I watched him closely in.
Rusnak wouldn't play Kamara's position as he is an attacking midfielder. So it wouldn't be a like for like move.
Or the team could be ambitious and find a way to make it work with both players around. I'm not convinced moving on from Flores is the answer to making the team better.
We need to upgrade 5 players or so, we don’t have the money with who we have right now to be ambitious. We gotta sell or trade
But given Flores' lack of production here we probably wouldn't get much for him. I would rather see us give him another chance in Losada's system and hope that he remain injury-free. I've seen flashes that make me think he could have a good year, especially with a decent forward who can finish as a partner. I see Arriola as more of a disrupter/feeder/assist man, so with Kamara likely to go we need someone to step up who can net the ball. Robertha? Sorga? Someone not yet named?
Goff reports that United are pretty much out of the running for Rusnak. Ah, that was fun while it lasted.
I'm not a scout or anything but we should get this guy who was the top scorer of the Swedish Allsvenskan last season. 10+ goals guaranteed. Samuel Adegbenro - stats, career and market value
