It's the passing of an era with Lletget leaving. He gave us a lot of good moments, and I wish him well. I agree he hasn't had a big impact this past year or couple of years, and whether that's how he was used or that he needs a fresh start in a new place, I don't know. I expect him to do well with New England. Now, who are we going to sign? We need a new talisman, or a new group identity.

I always thought Seb looked most dangerous when he was allowed to play out on the wing freely.

Llegett has always been an 8 to me. He can play out wide but works best in the middle if you have a DM next to him and then he can distribute the ball during the attack to the CAM, Wingers and Forward.

    ------------------CF----
    W--------------CAM-----------W
    ----Llegett---------------DM

    or

    -----------------LF--RF
    LM------Llegett----DM----RM

We were effective with him at the end of the year whenever Vanney would breakdown and play him in one of those above formations in the 2nd half of games. If Bruce has promised him that he will play him as a CAM, he will line up like so below based on how Bruce used to do it when he ran this club. I have never seen him be anything more than mediocre as a straight up CAM though.

    ---------------LF-------RF
    LM-------------Llegett---------RM
    ------------------CDM

This. He’s an 8. He can make some good late runs into the box. He’s had some good moments on the wing but he’s just not that fast or a great crosser of the ball. He’s an 8.

So as someone asked - yes, For a good chunk of his time for Galaxy, he has been displaced by JDS and not really been deployed in away to optimize his performance.

Exactly. He and Jona were cancelling each other out a whole lot. It especially killed me when we had those 2 in the middle with Raveloson at the same time.
Jona is no CAM and none of them were real CDMs. Now that JDS and Llegett are leaving, we only have one starter level 8 in Raveloson and a Super-Sub CAM in Sasha. We have Grandsir and Efrain as Wingers but I still don't think Efra is ready to be a fulltime starter. So we do still need Wingers even if we are planning to throw Cabral in the spot from time to time still. Even though CDM and CAM are more pressing needs in the midfield.

As for Paul Arriola being a possible new winger, I think he would be a solid signing just not as a DP? I don't think so. Especially coming off of a quad injury that caused Swansea to want to end his loan. Pavon would be a better DP signing stat line wise. However I think either would be better than Grandsir, Efra and Cabral.

Just read a article about the trade. Can someone please explain this to me like I'm a 5 year old? Seba says and I quote, I want to go somewhere where I can win! How did we get to this? What kind of a world is this? Out going players leaving because they want to "win something!" It's supposed to be the other way around! They should be coming here to win trophies! No one ever said yeah Boston playing in turf and only when the patriots are not playing is where I can win thrive as a player at club level! It's infurating in every level, the fact that it's reality at this time makes it 1000x worse! Am I alone here in feeling despair about the state of the once mighty LA Galaxy?

It's not only lost but quickly descending into the 10th level of hell! Anyone who renews season tickets deserves the misery they will be subjected to. When that rep calls and wants to "follow up" with me about the up coming season! Well let's say they will quickly follow up with someone else!

I understand that fans can related to Lletget as a long time player and appreciate his efforts. Ditto for his USMNT service and his injury in 2017 justifiably earned him sympathy for a major career setback. But I really don't understand this "He gave us a lot of good moments" comment. In my mind he was always a role player and never a major figure. He played for the Galaxy for parts of 7 seasons; he only scored more that 3 goals in 2 of them (7 in 2015 and 6 in 2020). He wasn't a big assist guy either with highs of 8 in 2016 and 6 in 2019. His average per season, excluding his injury season of 2017, was 3.5g and 4.33a.

I really don't follow NE but with Tajon Buchanon (and his 8g and 6a) leaving, BA has a huge hole to fill at right wing. Despite BA's supposed promises to only play Llethet at CAM, I really doubt that BA is really going to move Carles Gil. the raining MLS MVP (4g and 11a) out of his CAM role to right wing in order to play Seb there,

It’s a surprisingly dick comment by Seb if you ask me. Probably reads worse then it was spoken. His new coach is fond of saying “your best players have to be your best players…”

Well by that standard he failed LA Galaxy more often then not the last few years.

LOL!! Don't take it personal. If he wins something it wont be because of him. He is good but you don't build a team around guys that are just good. You build them around beasts. He is not a superstar he is a supporting piece only. This is why he had a problem with Zlatlan when he would basically tell him to his face how much he was not a superstar. Ibra has an attitude but he is the type of dude you build teams around. He can talk smack because he can back it up. The Galaxy will be back to form. We are a few pieces away. We got a coach that frustrates me not because he doesn't do what needs to be done but because he tries other crap first before he does eventually get things right. Our issue now is that we need to find our beasts. We are trusting Cabral to become one and he has potential but is not there yet. We need a 20 goal a year caliber guy to compliment Chicharito and we need him in the midfield.

I like him as a person, always cheered for him as a USMNT player and when he played for the Galaxy - but I don't think we are losing much in trading him. I think the 1.2 million we now have for this season to find a player (or players) who are a better fit for our system will help us a lot more....

Farewell Seb, I will miss how much he loved playing for the city, the team, and the fans... But his time was up here and we get a nice haul of allocation money PLUS the freed up salary cap space. I for one am on the *SLIGHTLY* optimistic side that we will acquire better fitting pieces for how Vanney wants to play. We can't really grade this trade until we see the full haul of players we bring in. Stay tuned...

Having the cap space is nice. Knowing the same FO is responsible for spending it, is the worry.

This is 100% the way I feel. Love the guy but for a mill+ we should be able to get an attacking midfielder who will help us more than Seb did. The biggest issue with this scenario is our shortage of foreign player slots. Maybe we can get Landon back? :)

What worries me is if we moved him with half of a plan in place - but I do agree it’s not a terrible move to move him. We never got the production out of him that we needed. And though I think some of that was he was mis-deployed, I do think he got a chance to seize a CM spot and he never really grasped the opportunity. Also I got sense that he and Vanney didn’t see eye to eye.

Concur on the Seba comments, I always liked him and rooted for him, he's like an undrafted free agent who makes good in the NFL, a player who languished away who finally got his chance, and I think he gives it his all for Bruce. He dipped significantly when Bruce was no longer our manager, interestingly. and yea, He was always a role player, a really good role player, but he was never a star (and yea his injury I think stunted a lot of his play, he was never the same dribbling or attacking after that)

That being said, I'm glad we resigned Sacha for at least another season. Despite his club history, you could tell he is bleeding blue white and gold right now, and he is such a locker room leader, and the games he stepped in he was effective.

I will say letting JDS go is more the end of an era. Jona Dos Santos should never have been a DP. He was a solid CM, but he should never have been a DP.

I partially agree with this, but don't think that the LA Galaxy could have signed him otherwise. When he was heathy (before 2020), he definitely played at a DP level. I remember seeing him bust his gut covering all over the field on crap teams, ending attacks with brilliant tackles and maintaining possession under pressure. My memory was that he started tailing off after his 2nd or 3rd groin injury in 2019.

So looking at his Galaxy career in retrospect, I would agree that he was not a good DP signing because of his health issues. Looking back, he had injury issues at Villarreal as well, so he was a high risk signing. Whether the powers that be at that time, Pete, Jovan and Chris took that into consideration or whether they thought that the risk was justified is uncertain. I think the Galaxy's record in 2017 was so bad (and players like Joao Pedro such big failures) that it was easy to make a case that the risk was justified because they clearly needed help in the midfield. There was also the perception that he might help keep Gio more focused and be a box office draw as well as sell jerseys.

The GIIs used Harvey this year in a variety of spots, from DM to CB to RB. Being versatile, cheap, and not taking up an Int'l slot is the way a lot of guys carve out a career in MLS. I could see him making the 18 with occasional starts next year.

Alright, now it's Vanney's time. He cleaned the room to build his own club, including our three longest-tenured players, DTK, Ortega and Junior Gonzalez. Some of them weren't perfect, but definitely had some qualities.

I'm 100% confident in Vanney to right the ship, but if his choices are bad, he will rightly get a lot of criticism.

Per transfermarkt, Andrej Dokanov is a 20yr old defensive mid in his first season both with his club team and the Bosnian national team. Hard to find out much more about him.

Count me skeptical that our scouts have been tracking some obscure 20 yo Bosnian with a very thin club resume. Our scouts are lazy. This seems like a rumor created by player reps to me.

but I guess it’s a reason to watch tonight.
