The schedule for 2022 just came out. LA Galaxy Is there a reason why Portland would host the Galaxy on a Friday at 1:30 pm on April 1st? Or is that probably a typo and intended to be Saturday or maybe Friday night? I can't think of a holiday...
Per the Portland Fox station (possibly not a reputable news source), the game is scheduled for Sunday April 3rd at 1:30pm and will be broadcast on FS1.
According to Arriola, the Galaxy spoke to his agent, but no "formal offer" to DC United at this point. My guess is that they may not have put forth a formal offer yet, but they wouldn't have gone to Arriola's agent if they hadn't spoken to DC United and discussed at least the parameters of a deal to see if it was possible. Paul Arriola tells @Nicocantor1 and me @USFutbolPod that the @LAGalaxy has already approached his agent about a potential deal. But, at the moment, there has not been any formal offer presented to @dcunited. https://t.co/FoLMjC4G4p— Michele Giannone (@MicheleG3) December 15, 2021
Every year I ask and wonder "why don't they put the day of the week on the schedule?" We shouldn't have to pull out a calendar to figure it out.
I’d guess it’s on purpose for Marketing reasons - they don’t want you to see at a glance how many game days / times are inconvenient so as not to dissuade you from purchasing a season ticket.
Source tells ESPN that Sebastian Lletget is headed to #NERevs from #LAGalaxy for up to $1.3m in General Allocation Money (GAM) $800k of which is based on incentives: https://t.co/iq1hDypLKQ (@tombogert first with news of Lletget heading to New England being finalized.)— Jeff Carlisle (@JeffreyCarlisle) December 16, 2021 not real impressed with the return unless the $800k based on incentives are likely. I think it is stupid we don’t get to know the incentives.
Sacha deal is completed according to CoG NEWS: Sacha Kljestan will re-join the Galaxy for the 2022 season. He's not done yet!🏆 https://t.co/7gnQPMq4za#LAGalaxy #MLS— Corner Of The Galaxy (@GalaxyPodcast) December 16, 2021
So 800K of the Lletget money is tied up in "incentives?" What "incentives" are we talking about here? Does anyone know?
I'm a 15+ years STH already. I tell them every year to add day of the week. . Actusl replies: "Wow! That's a great idea!" "We get the template from the league " This should be on our marketing thread.
Passing the ball around is all fine and good but we desperately need players who can get behind defenses.
They’re generally games played/started, minutes played, making playoffs, hitting certain goals/assists. So if the deal is something like plays 25 games, 2000 minutes 5 G/A and the Revs make the playoffs. Then it’s a good deal. If the combined Goals/Assist is high or it’s dependent on the Revs winning MLS cup or something stupid then it’s a bad deal. Obviously we have no idea and probably won’t ever get to know, but those are the categories you tend to hear about. Might be some of them, might be “how many games does Becky G attended or post something about the Revs on social media”.
I am fine with this. With Lletget's 2021 base salary being $800k, this gives the Galaxy $1.3mm in increased cap space to sign a replacement even without a penny of incentive money added on..
I don't know how you guys do it? It's all a big pile of steer manure, there is no quality in the squad (yeah that includes the vegetable side dish), the management staff and don't get me started on the front office! AEG truly does not give a flying duck about the club or us. STH my arse this has got to be right up there with relationship apps not as advertised 99.9% of the time! It might be time to accept the fact that we are just another club that settles for ticket and merchandising sales rather than actual championships and results. I remember when the Galaxy shined as a name and standard of football in the league, sadly it is now looking like an afterthought and punchline to a outdated joke.
I really enjoy being a fan of this team, recent warts and all. I'm also an insane optimist when it comes to my sports teams. Its the only way, typically, to survive as a Raiders, LA Kings and Angels fan. The Galaxy used to be the one team I could count on to be great. Oh well. As frustrating as last year was, I really think if we upgrade central midfield (the only place we lost significant minutes from last year's squad) and get another attacking threat and some good backups on the flanks I think we can be good. I hope that all the new guys from last year (like everyone) will be settled in and be better. Did I mention I'm an insane optimist?
Genuinely going to miss Lletget. He is one of the guys I can remember back from when I was a young 20 something year old. Might be silly, but Lletget and I are the same age and when he first signed for the Galaxy, I really rooted for the guy to break through with us. He went from West Ham reserves, to captaining the US national team and dating a big celebrity all the while living his dream playing soccer in LA. He didn't get us a cup unfortunately, but I never doubted Lletget's desire with this team. As mentioned, I think Lletget has always been the type of guy who excels in a team that is already at its peak hence why he does well for the US team. He is great with ball retention, and creating for the better players around him. I'm positive in that New England team Lletget will thrive and likely get a cup. I really hope we get someone to replace Lletget. He gets a lot of stick, but having a guy who can play anywhere in midfield and not look out of place is a huge benefit. Plus he doesn't panic on the ball. We lost Jona and Lletget which were our two best mids in terms of keeping the ball. This might hurt us honestly.
More info on the potential Arriola trade. Not sure the circumstances are identical this many years and injuries apart, but if DC United wants their $500k of GAM back, we’re getting that much from NE for Lletget guaranteed, which would just make this a straight swap. One wrinkle to talks between D.C. United and LA Galaxy for Paul Arriola: When DC United signed Arriola from Club Tijuana in 2017, LA Galaxy demanded $500k xAM for Arriola's "homegrown rights".If I'm DC now, I'm going #TeamPettyAllStar and demand a huge fee to make up for that. https://t.co/sdKFQWwznx— Tom Bogert (@tombogert) December 16, 2021
And now DC United is claiming they aren’t trading him, which could just be they are pushing for a very high price DCU says: "He's not going anywhere. No interest from us in moving him at all." https://t.co/Gj5Oq6TYCp— Steven Goff (@SoccerInsider) December 16, 2021 And apparently they are doing that. Sources on both sides tell me today that DC is asking for too much. Deal is “very unlikely” to happen. https://t.co/BRwErXibhP— Michele Giannone (@MicheleG3) December 16, 2021
Lletget being open about how he was never given the chance to solely play CAM in LA for various reasons. says Bruce Arena guaranteed that's the role he'll be playing with #NERevs— Andy Deossa 🇨🇴 (@Andy_Deossa) December 16, 2021 kind of interesting. Did we misuse Lleget? I don't see a lot of evidence that he was a great CAM waiting to happen. We've seen him tried there by Berhalter for USA and never looking too great in that role.
For me personally, I'm not breaking the bank for Ariola. I'd rather go otside the league if possible and use all those resources towards the player, not towards a trade.
I agree. I'm confident in our FO to be tricked by Bruce on the "incentives" in GAM, then overpaying for Arriola.
I enjoyed being a fan when it looked like the organization gave a crap. I'm starting to feel like a Tottenham supporter (no offense dawdler). Tom Holland asked Mbappe about signing for spurs and he laughed in his face on air! That is what this regime is doing to our club, potential superstars with prime years left will eventually laugh at our advances.
They will settle for a ayso draft pick and 1k worth of shirt sales. That is the confidence I have in them.
I think this club has lost the fans trust. I hope we are on the way up, but I no longer will believe it until I see it. It's been a lot of bad trades after bad trades. But Hey, Klein can afford a $4 million house, so there is that. Lletget will be great in New England. I think he needed a change in scenery (much as Gyasi did!). Sort of hurts when he says wants he wants to win, and couldn't do it at the Galaxy. But nothing that any G's fan doesn't already know. Paul Arriola is ok, not sure he is the missing piece.
