Caught some of the Barca game too - that 17 year old Gavi kid is ridiculously talented. With Gavi, Fati, Pedri, and potentially Abde they have a very strong generation coming through if they keep developing. All of them can be world class.
Hopefully the people at the top continue to mismanage the club and all that talent leaves or is wasted on years of mediocrity.
I still don't see how they are any more talented than any youngsters we have, Gavi, Nico, Abde, Demir all these kids are only playing because Farca can't afford to buy and the ones they've bought have been duds i'm pretty sure if we had to use our youngsters with the experienced players we have it would look the same and we'd probably be battling it out in 8th place as well, let's see how they all turn out, that superkid farca hype train is too much, you only have to play one game with the first team and the tag is automatic it seems, LE being national team coach helps as well
The hype is definitely overblown at times - Bojan, Munir etc were all supposed to be the next Messi. But having seen these guys a few times, especially Pedri, Fati, and Gavi; I do feel they have the talent to be world class. Whether they will reach there is another question. Speaking of Barca, just saw that Dani Alves is going to make his re-debut for them in midweek against Boca Juniors…at the Maradona Cup in Saudi Arabia. What a weird time to set up a friendly.
They need the cash, why else are they whoring themselves out to an oil state in the midst of a season battle to stay in the top 4 when the last thing they need is to tack on a trip to play a friendly. As far as the Barca youngsters go, we’ve seen many come through and show glimpses like these do with some good displays, but overall never manage to stay since they were not elite. Now, the team is very average so they can stay. Of all of them Pedri looks like the best player, but I wouldn’t be shocked if some of them leave when there is no CL…Barca DNA or not.
Excuse me but how do you even define "anti-vaxxer", or is that just another buzzword that's thrown around when you have no arguments? Is someone who's refusing a booster shot every 6 months an "anti-vaxxer" by your definition? You pro-mandate folks can't even give a valid reason, just a single one why a vaccine that (1) was developed in record time, (2) doesn't prevent transmission or infection, (3) has waning efficacy against hospitalizations and death within a few months (else there wouldn't be any talk of boosters shots, would there?) and (4) whose manufacturer has legal immunity from liability should some people suffer from adverse reactions (and we know they do, just ask those who have suffered heart inflammation or blood clots or even worse) needs to be a prequisite to participate in society. Going along with the stupidity and the lies and the goalpost-shifting from the authorities since the pandemic begun doesn't make you more moral or more intelligent or a better human being.
For the next few years, Barcelona does not have the financial means to keep their star players if they are good. They are now at the level of Sevilla and Tottenham. They might qualfy for the CL, but mainly an Europa team. Their star players will leave if better offers arrive. Fati renewed so that they can sell him in a few years, and use the money to buy another Depay or an older player such as Aguero.
🚨🚨 BREAKING: Sergio Agüero is set to announce his retirement from football on Wednesday. Absolutely gutted for the lad. He’s just 33-years old. (Source: MARCA) pic.twitter.com/jrR7RGPyQP— Transfer News Live (@DeadlineDayLive) December 13, 2021
I don't think so. Bartu mismanaged them badly but they will still have around 800 ME revenue annually whenever they qualify for CL. Got record deal with Nike etc. Sevilla barely get 1/10th of that in kit sponsorship. Messi and Griezmann leaving also would take off 150-180 ME in gross wages. Barca will definitely build around Fati, Pedri, Gavi etc. Might sell the likes of Ter short term because they are replaceable with lesser earning players. You don't sell best prospects and risk losing further revenue by missing out of CL for multiple years. If Gaspart era didn't finish Barca as a big club, no chance of that happening when they are top 3 club in revenue. They'd have taken desperate CVC deal otherwise.
A Christmas tradition at Real Betis. 🎄💚🧸🔝👏 Every year, fans throw toys onto the pitch in a charity pledge to disadvantaged children. #RealBetisRealSociedad pic.twitter.com/nszduk91XP— LALIGA English (@LaLigaEN) December 12, 2021
Set to miss a massively important match against Sevilla next week
Dani Alves made it into the FIFA World XI squad pic.twitter.com/61ioJkDPGg— Rik Sharma (@riksharma_) December 14, 2021 FIFPRO nominees. Barcelona players include: Jordi Alba, Dani Alves, Sergio Busquets, Frenkie de Jong, and Messi. 1 Bayern player, 2 Real Madrid players, 2 Man City players, no place for Salah... I'm telling you, we could learn from Barca's marketing. How they manage to pull this off is beyond me. Not a single one of their current players is anywhere near deserving this year.
Funny enough, I just read that as a result of missing out on CL revenue, they have reopened negotiations about the CVC deal. So unfortunately it looks like their chest thumping didn’t last long
De Jong is the most overated midfielder in the world, every time i watch him i have no idea what is he good at .....the reason he and the other Ajax players got so overated is because Ramos missed the return leg and Vinicius got injured.... De Jong/Van Der Beek/Zyach,De Ligt etc has all been trash outside of Ajax.
Of course, they need the cash if they have desire for turning it around quick. But, this is short term thinking again, by taking that deal they will lose even more in the long run. The scope of their problems is much worse than what is being told. Total wage bill is 97 million next year, that’s about 200 less than this years pathetic squad. They would be looking at a relegation battle next year, let alone praying for a top 4 finish.
So 100 ME worth deadweight off the books this summer? That's great news for them just like Bale, Isco and Marcelo off our books this summer. I read they are negotiating a way better CVC deal than other 17 La Liga clubs agreed.
Boca Juniors just defeated Barcelona in the Maradona Cup Barca flew to Saudi Arabia midseason for a cash grab friendly in the name of Diego only to lose to a South American team. They can't beat anybody
Not quite. They have a current yearly wage bill of 225 million. They need to get down to 97. these are the players with contracts expiring 2022; Demebele: 20 Sergi Roberto: 9 Luk de Jong: 1.5 That’s a total of 30.5 So they need to shed an additional 90 million. Let’s start with seeing if you can get the following to retire; Buquets: 22 Alba: 22 44 Mill Then pray some moronic club will take on; Coutinho: 22 Umtiti: 14 thats 36 mill, plus the 44 from retirements = 80. Sell Dest (6 mill) and Wagé (5 mill) and your there. That’s 9 players and 3 starters they lose. With the inability to add anything else other than maybe 10-12 million in total for the season after they reconcile. Explain to me how they are signing Haaland?
Hard to watch Stuttgart get dismantled 5-0 by Bayern while I am trying to schedule recurring work off-sites.
