Never underestimate the ability of USMNT members to f*ck up learning offensive skills...even the simplest ones. Having said....c'mon Konrad!! Just practice a cut move to left (and then split-second shot with left) and alternatively practice shimmy fake to open up shot on right foot.....just practice this over and over on training pitch and training sessions for the next year....and then incorporate it in games. Defenders are going to give you this opportunity both left and right, because you are too quick for them and they will also back off. And you will make millions of dollars more in your career if you can become even semi-proficient with this!!! Would seem to be great incentive! What are you waiting for?

The English announcer called him the MVP of the first half, which struck me as ... wrong. He was, however, dynamic. I think his positioning and runs off the ball could be improved - he is staying SO wide and behind the play that he's not a passing option as often as he could be if he was crashing the back post or pinching in farther as the ball approaches the goal. Perhaps he's being coached to stay wide and well behind the defensive line, but I think that could use tweaking. When on the ball, only Payet can do more on Marseille, and they showed good chemistry together today in short minutes, which I would love to see develop.
The potential is obvious. He has a good frame and quickness, and pretty good technical skills. He just seems a half step slow to spot the right pass/play, which is entirely understandable given his age and experience. if the game slows down for him, he could quickly become a 25-30 million dollar player. If it doesn’t, he will be a lot like so many British players of the past 15 years or so who showed so much promise but didn’t amount to much.
He is still sounds and fury now. If he can translate all his move into final results for goals and assists, he will start for big clubs.
Having seen him 3 or 4 times this year I was assuming he is instructed to stay very wide and very high. But it may be explained by what you are saying here. I agree he doesn’t do any of those things (except track back a little). On the back side he crashes the top of the 18, not the back post. But anyway, that opposing back could not handle him in that touch video.
Technically he's the #3 guy for me behind Puli and Reyna. Dest is also great technically, but being a defender* his weak spots (covering and agility) are exposed a bit too often to put him up there. * Nominally.
Yes. But individual technique is only part of the equation. As a player, Weah is more mature, even though he's only about a year and a half older.
Even though I started the Morris thread (with a bunch of optimistic assumptions), I would love to see KDLF get a fair shot at going to Qatar. Because I am overseas this fall and part of the winter, I have been able to see a lot of his matches on our cable package here. Sometimes he looks like that highlight video above, showing great speed and attacking prowess. You can see how he abuses the defender and that highlight video, and I have seen that in three or four games this season from him. Then there are games where he seems to disappear, in part for the reasons mentioned above: not coming back to receive the ball, staying very high and very wide all the time. It’s seems that in the advanced parts of the attack he is not supposed to pinch in, even though he is very adept at coming back for the ball and cutting inside with it the way Pulisic likes to do. That is why I made the inference that he is instructed to stay high and wide. But it may be a lack of positional sophistication on his part. I don’t know. Either way, he shows a very exciting sort of speed and direct attacking ability, the kind of thing you’d like to be able to bring in off the bench. I really believe that if Berhalter can find it in his heart to move Reyna to a central attacking position (8, 10 or even deep 9), and we bring 4 wingers none of whom is Arriola, our attack in Qatar will be more powerful without losing anywhere near as much defensively.p as we gain offensively.
Unfortunately, he is 4th or even 5th in GB's eyes. GB quickly gives him the hook, while with others, he will leave them in the game to "work it out"
Agreed. GB weights “consistently doing what I say defensively” so heavily compared to other contributions that young players, even those with rare talents on the ball, tend to get far fewer chances. My best guess is that GB has him 5th or 6th in the winger depth chart, roughly even with Roldan.
Konrad drew the penalty that resulted in OM's first goal, and they were trailing 1-0 at the time. Left just after they took the lead, in what looked like a pre-planned sub of both wings.

It is, but only technically. They play in the Championat National 3, which is the 5th-tier of French football alright but, it's a competition organized on regional lines with 168 teams divided into 12 divisions with 14 teams each. Promotion is to the Championat National 2, which is another regional competition of 72 teams in 4 groups of 16 teams In other words, it's a lot closer to the German Oberliga than the English Conference but, with French lower-league football having a good bit less money than Germany, Oberliga football would probably be better.
