But as far as the 11 American cities, they now have 11 cities ranked and those cities being: 1- New York/New Jersey 2- Los Angeles 3- Dallas 4- Miami 5- Washington D.C 6- Seattle 7- Atlanta 8- San Francisco/Bay Area 9- Boston 10- Denver 11- Philadelphia But seeing these 11 cities, 1 city definitely won't make the cut and you have to have 10 cities for 2026 well for the American portion So that being said, the city I think will not make the cut will be: Denver I see Philadelphia edging out Denver
You need something in the middle of the country and Atlanta (southeast) and Dallas (Texas) should not count.
I'm fine if they are hosts but they should not count as the middle of the country. So, perhaps, no Philly, or New Jersey; but Denver? Just saying... other than Atlanta and Dalls, these cities are loaded on the coasts.
Yeah that's true but they are the places like it or not with the biggest amount of accurate World Cup seating for games and they have the best cultures
FIFA doesn't care about culture; and Dallas has none. But I'm sure they'll love the bells and whistles of that Dallas stadium, so you are probably right. I'm just saying it is a bad look having the WC only on the coasts and in the south; but, then again, I'm biased because I want it Denver.
Sorry, I'm a bit behind the United 2026 News (shame on me!). Is the above list the final 11 cities FIFA are considering? So is it official Orlando hasn't made the cut?
On the positive side, having games grouped on the coasts makes it easier for fans to travel between games. It’s a little harder if everything is spread out. Side note — I wonder what the atmosphere will be like. Tbh I don’t even think the average American knows they’re hosting the next WC
You might be thinking of the dud that was the Copa América Centenario here (strictly talking about public awareness). That was different: there was little time to pub it, since whether it was going to happen at all was still up in the air at the start of 2016. OTOH, the World Cup pubs itself: it's going to be front-and-center starting in Qatar 2022 (esp. if/when the US qualifies), with pretty much EVERY broadcast here during the tournament mentioning that we'll host the next edition.
I know World Cup pubs here in Canada and restaurants too will be packed not just for Qatar but also for 2026 I know especially here in Toronto, if BMO Field is packed people will definitely watch the game at Nathan Phillips Square
is there any known/confirmed timeline about stadium decission? FIFA recently visited all host candidates, decission can‘t be that far away.
Surely, NJ-NY is a lock, no? Excluding them would be like having a WC in Brasil and excluding the entire Sao Paulo metro area.
I agree that WC 2026 will be promoted hard during Qatar 2022, but how many average Americans will notice i.e. be watching Qatar 2022? I'm thinking US viewership will take a bit of a hit because of the time difference and because its right in the middle of NFL season. As for the pubs (I'm not sure if you actually are talking about pubs or if you're using that as an abbreviation for something else?), how many will even show the WC on a Saturday or Sunday with American football games competing for TV screens? Same question for WC games kicking off before 10am.
Yeah, I forgot the New Jersey bid is the New York area bid. Or rather, that the New York NFL stadium is in New Jersey. I agree New York is a lock.
The atmospheres will be fantastic. Everyone will know because FOX is going to promote it along with NBC/Telemundo every chance they get. Also '94 was the most attended World Cup of all time and back then not too many people cared about it including the media. With social media and streaming it will be hyped like no other event in history.
This is true. But FOX is going to be cross-promoting the World Cup during their College Football Games and NFL games so the message will go out during American Football games too. As for Bars... .. they will put on anything you ask. They just want people to come in and buy some drinks and food. (Especially after the last couple horrible years!) Also, There's not much going on during Monday, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays during the day so having World Cup matches will bring in patrons during normally slow hours which is more $$$$.
Of course the stadiums will fill up... you can host a meaningless friendly between two European clubs who use their subs in a major American city and it will sell out. No doubt ticket sales for a WC won’t be a problem. I was more referring to outside the stadiums... you know, the general atmosphere in the streets and throughout the cities during the cups. Will it have that typical, magical WC vibe or will it simply be matches being played in the same country and all else continuing as it’s just another day? I also wonder how easy (or hard, rather) it’ll be for foreigners to attend... remember WC 94 was pre-9/11, so rules were different in terms of visas, etc
The outside will be awesome in major cities and cities hosting. I know there are thousands of people in Chicago that gather together. Kansas also. And those were for games in the middle of the day European time and not in the USA. This tournament is going to be like nothing we have ever seen before.
