What a huge goal. It was a bold move bringing Origi on. I doubt many LFC fans would have expected or wanted that sub. Divock played really well even before the goal. Just the other day was the 2 year anniversary of his goal against Everton. That was the first of many crucial goals he scored that season. Hopefully this again the first of a series of goals that ends with him scoring in the Champions League final. A lot of us questioned Origi's ambitions when he did not move on in the summer. Even if that's the only goal he scores this season and it helps us win the league, do you think he would trade that for 10 goals at some mid-table club? Thats a huge 3 points away from home. Wolves did a good job frustrating us, but I thought that Liverpool played well. It was driving me nuts when the commentators were talking as if Wolves had our defense rattled after chances when the flag had gone up. That is just good defending. Our strategy was clearly to foul Traore anytime he worked up a head of steam, and it worked pretty well. He might have no end product, but how many players in the league put more fear into the opposition than he does? Jota's miss was unbelievable. I thought he showed great composure to hold onto it as long as he did, just to make sure. But then he somehow hit it right at Coady. I'm sure Diogo was the first to give Divock a hug in the dressing the room. And lets not forget to mention that the best player in the world got yet another assist. It was a great piece of play that created the goal. If I would have posted earlier, I would have have said top of the league, but City are on there way to making sure that is not the case.
I was confused why it was for Henderson. But yes - as soon as he came on he was lively and effective. And then he did the Divock.
I think the only problem with starting your eleven best players is that it’s hard for any sub to make your better…..unless you’re Divock.
Yeah , that's deffo true . Divvie is a totally different type of player to throw into our attack. While he doesn't really fit Klopp's system the way Salah , Mane et al do he does give oppo defences something different to deal with. Fresh legs, more physical , holds up the ball well etc . Seldom used but still can be quite useful as he showed today.
Lost in the hilarity of Divock scoring yet another huge goal, is that Virgil’s ball was excellent and Salah’s first touch is outrageous. 𝗟𝗮𝘁𝗲. 𝗟𝗲𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝘆. It’s time to enjoy that 94th minute winner from Divock all over again, Reds! 😍 pic.twitter.com/c00VEwq3hZ— Liverpool FC (@LFC) December 4, 2021
One thing that was nice was Origi megged Coady who (yes yes huge Liverpool fan) was a time-wasting clown today. Probably also committed a handball on Jota's calamity.
each of the Wolves defenders towered over our forwards, until he arrived. although Jota came close with that great header, and Origi scored with fast feet ..... so I don't even know why I'm typing this.
Yeah. I was left pretty confused how someone was trying to be "too cute" on a far-post headed attempt.
I've re-watched the goal countless times now (naturally). What's crazy to me is that we must've had a thousand shots blocked by Wolves defenders yesterday and when you see how Origi's winner barely evades both Coady and their keeper's legs; it was a goddamn miracle.
after yesterday, comparing exact-same fixtures from last season: City -3 points Chelsea +4 points LFC +7 points
