So the players indispensable for this team is only Hasegawa, Shimizu, Iwabuchi, Nagano and Kumagai, aren't they?

Sorry but my opinion doesn't change here. I'm gonna rant a bit here. This is gonna be the last time I share an in depth opinion on Takakura because what's done is done.

Scoring the last moment vs Chile to make it out of the group stage at third place is something I do not perceive as destroying weak opposition. Canada only scored penalties after the group stage. To let a goal in from open play against a team like that was not impressive and the goal they scored against them was honestly just individual talent and had nothing to do with Takakura. That second half against GB was absolutely dreadful they basically played in their own half.

Sweden's game I thought was the best Takakura's team could do. That was her sealing with the team. Out of all the games her team played, the only time her football worked in a tournament was against the Netherlands at the WC and Sweden at the Olympics and they lost both of those. When her plan (she always said her plan was to have no plan by the way) didn't work it was almost painful to watch. The team was almost scared of going forward and losing the ball which led to them passing backwards again and again. They never tried to attack on the counter and they didn't have the tactics to breakdown the opposition when they sat deep. The players were at a loss. In fact after this years She Believes Cup one of the players anonymously spoke up saying some players didn't understand what Takakura was trying to accomplish with the team. I'm not gonna say she was a horrible coach but she was out of her depth and her football only works when there's a level of understanding between players that can only be achieved at club level. If she needed more time she isn't meant to be a NT coach.

It was obvious something had to change. At least now I can listen to the post game interviews and know that the players know what they're trying to accomplish on the field. At least Ikeda can communicate with fans and media pointing out what went wrong what the team needs more of. At least him and his players seem to be on the same page. At least he changed things up and refined the defensive tactics. Takakura played the same football over and over again and when she was asked what went wrong after the Olympics she answered "I don't know". Hasegawa, who owes so much to Takakura came out and said that the team needed a more logical and theoretical approach to football. I mean if people thought she should've kept the job after that I don't know what they have to see to be convinced otherwise.

"I think the fact that Hasegawa didn't make eye contact with Takakura at all when she was subbed out shows a lot about the relationships in this team"

Being under such a tremendous amount of pressure, and getting it done in the end, it's actually quite respectable.

Performance against Dutch B team, when you trying to impress your new head coach, that was quite sad...

p/s I am not saying Takakura should've kept her job, actually she was supposed to be fired after the Olympics (obviously), but I just don't understand what is positive about such terrible performances. The fact that you can read about them in-depth? Oh, that's helpful...

p/p/s It seems that players now understand what they have to do, well, actually it seems that they don't or they do, but they are just not good enough to do it.

Taken out of context completely. Just a bad shot. Hasegawa would not disrespect her coach even if she is mad at her, which is not the case here at all.

That photo can be interpreted in anyway possible but what she said after the Olympics in those articles. She was definitely frustrated with Takakura.

I won't judge Ikeda until the AFC. In my eyes the game against the Dutch didn't look hopeless what so ever. Definitely didn't look worse than the olympics when you consider the Olympic team was playing together for 5 years. The problems they faced today(yesterday for Europe?) were the same problems Takakura faced for 5 years and couldn't fix.

    Once again, thanks for that.

I thought this was a much better performance compared to the Iceland game. The Dutch were not that good and Nadeshiko probably should have found a way to score. But given the two strikers who started today are not exactly in the best of form it was always going to be difficult for Nadeshiko to score.

I thought Sugasawa played okay. She at least gets herself into positions to score, but often is found wanting. I do not know who they should play up top with Iwabuchi right now. I would still like to see Kobayashi as the main striker, but I doubt that will happen and she has not been as good as last season.

I am interested in seeing a Narumiya/Iwabuchi front pair. I want to see more movement from the forwards and those two move; of course that will never happen. But more Narumiya would be good, especially given she did not play today.

Miyazawa was very good and the fact that she cut in so often helped to change the shape of the Netherlands' defence and Nadeshikos' attack. Nadeshiko also did not attack down the wings as much and attacked quite a bit through the centre with some nice quick passing that led to opportunities in the penalty box.

The thing is though they got the ball into the penalty box. Nagano and Hasegawa were important for this. I think Nagano is going to become a very important player for Nadeshiko over the coming years. I think she gets what Ikeda wants. She was okay against Iceland but she was much better against the Dutch.

I am not sure about Sumida and I would love to see five in midfield, but I do not think it will happen.

I want to stress that it is really difficult to know where Nadeshiko are at, and the Dutch were pretty poor, especially in the first half. Nadeshiko looked much better once Iwabuchi came on. Movement!

NT players will be isolated for 14 days due to concerns over the Omicron Variant. This means teams will have to play their last round this year without their key players. INAC Kobe got off lucky....

I'm pretty sure Ikeda was planning to hold a camp for domestic players sometime during December. Not sure if that will be affected somehow.

    One of the reasons is:

Beleza doesn't have 11 players to start a game ))

My understanding of that news was that they will not allow new tickets to be purchased but honor flights tat were already booked.
Citizens of Japan, which are allowed to return, have to quarantine for 14 days upon return. Please let me know if that is correct ornot.

It's very likely that today Sassuolo had to say goodbye to any realistic chance of winning the Italian title, since they lost the direct clash vs Juventus by 0-2 (brace by Cristiana Girelli) and now they're 6 points behind the top of the rankings (they could even lose 2nd place, if Milan will win tomorrow's derby vs Inter).
Mana Mihashi played the full match (and lost sight of Girelli on her first winning header :x3:), while Nanoka Iriguchi just sat on the bench.
