BROOOOOCE - Fs in the chat for the Sigi Schmid Coach of the Year. I wonder if it stings a little to win a trophy for coach of the year seeing it named after your biggest rival coach in the league for all those years. Even if he did tragically pass away.
Maybe we need to implement a two coach system. One coach for the regular season and a different one for the playoffs. If Porter only has to win three games a year, he is a great coach who has done this year in and year out. Who would have thought that a 3 week layoff between games would have hurt both #1 seeds.
1, 2 and 3 seeds out in the West. 1 and 3 out in the East (with no. 1 being the runaway Supporters Shield winner). Which, I suppose is entertaining in one way, but also feels oddly random to me. Then again, I don't watch much MLS once the Crew season ends.
By the way, as someone who grew up a rabid Minnesota Vikings fan, I can say with some confidence that the NE Revolution will never win an MLS Cup. Just ain't gonna happen. Last night's match reminded me of our 2017 playoff match at Atlanta.
Eh, you never know. I always though the Eagles would never win a Super Bowl. And then there's Cubs fans.
Sounds like the union will have several players out due to covid. Still unsure on who due to ongoing testing. Either they will be like the crew last year or the MLS cup final will be at a baseball stadium during a MLB lockout. "There’s been a lot of emotion, uniqueness this week-we were unable to train yesterday due to players going in health & safety protocols of MLS. We were able to return today. We will follow league protocol with hope of having as many players as possible for Sunday."-Coach Curtin pic.twitter.com/jlECRNsniC— Philadelphia Union (@PhilaUnion) December 3, 2021
We have not committed to acquiring the player at this time; we can confirm that we retain an exclusive option to permanently transfer the player. The option extends into 2022. We will have no further comment on the player at this time.— Atlanta United FC (@ATLUTD) December 4, 2021
“Cesion” means “loan”. This has been rumored for a while now. I think it’s probably contingent on Atlanta selling Barco. They already have Josef, Araujo, and Barco, so need to make room. Moreno has already been bought down I believe.
If those guys are definitely out for the playoff match and not just out of practice, then NYC will cruise.
My god, by my count that 6 starters: Blake, Glesnes, Elliot, Wagner, Bedoya, Santos. Starting GK and backup GK out. Starting LB and starting CBs out. Captain out. Second and third option at striker out. Missing a player or two is one thing, this is different. Game should be postponed.
Doop has enough to field a team. They are all out tomorrow unless there was a false positive under league rules, but indications are they are all out, and if they win, they will be out for the final too. Crazy.
And that's why you play the game. Hell, even a USL-2 team has a chance of knocking off DC or RSL. See the movie "Hoosiers" for another example. (Spoiler alert: Tiny-ass podunk HS team beats big-time team.)
Has the potential to be a real farce--but you never know. I recall, back when I was a kid, the NASL championship in 1973 between Dallas and Philly. Philly was missing a whole bunch of started as their English loan players had to go back for the season (except one, who was suspended due to a red card). They started eight US players, which was unheard of back then. SI was in town for a cover story--on Dallas (if you read the article, it's more about Dallas than Philly). But what happened was a 2-0 Atoms win and this:
