One thing that could be good for Democrats is that according to Wikipedia, Senate seats held by Republicans are averaging about twice as many candidates as Senate seats held by Democrats. The 13 Democratic incumbents running combine to have only 5 primary challengers, with 2 in CA, 1 in MD, 1 in NV, and 1 in NY. The 13 Republican incumbents combine to have 18 primary challengers, with 1 in AK, 3 in AR, 1 in FL, 2 in ID, 1 in IN, 1 in IA, 1 in KS, 4 in OK, 1 in SC, and 3 in UT. The states with more than one are safe in the general election. The states with at least ten candidates are 13 in FL, 14 in MO, 23 in NC, 15 in OH, 25 in PA, and 13 in WI. All of them are held by Republicans. The states with two or fewer candidates are 2 Republicans in AK; 1 of each in CT; 1 Democrat in HI; 1 of each in LA; 2 Democrats in NY; 1 Republican in ND; 1 Democrat in VT; and 1 of each in WA. All of them except VT have incumbents running. The only undeclared incumbents are Republicans, Minority Whip John Thune from SD (there are 3 Republicans and 1 Democrat), and Ron Johnson from WI.
If you're running for Governor of your own state, do you really need people in the other 49 states to know who you are? (That said, I can't imagine that Mark Herring will be our Gov. candidate in four years).
I'm sure that the Republican primary electorate in central PA will be eager to nominate a Muslim candidate. Right after they stop playing the national anthem before their high school football games, and replace it with something by Karlheinz Stockhausen. What reality do these people live in?
I want to congratulate my North Jersey constituent Dr. Oz on his run for US Senate in Pennsylvania. I’m sure this fully genuine candidacy will capture the hearts of Pennsylvanians. https://t.co/poMegBfBfC— Bill Pascrell, Jr. (@PascrellforNJ) November 30, 2021
Rob Bonta in California. Filipino-American, who was appointed by Governor Gavin Newsom to replace Xavier Becerra, who joined the Biden administration. He promised police reform and lower penalties for non-violent crimes, and now has to deal with high profile mass retail thefts, and with a general increase in crime in the state.
A Muslim candidate who tells them what they want to hear, validates the rightness of their own delusions, and comforts them with 'proof' that they're not bigots? You bet they'll vote for him.
In theory yes. But realistically they won't let a guy who cheered the planes going down on 9-11, sent funds to the Taliban and is for free abortions is not getting elected in PA. PA is a republican primary state so all of those things will come out.
Stacy Abrams just announced she is running for Governor of Georgia next year. She will be my first contribution for 2022.
That is great news for Warnoff too. Black turnout will be off the roof. AA are 31% of the voting population in Ga, if Stacy and the good pastor get 95% of it, their GOP opponents will need to win 70/30 the rest of the voters (this including Latinos, Asians etc).
That plays to Stacy Abrams strength. They will have to work hard, much harder than they should have to work (of course), but if anyone can do that, it would be Stacy Abrams.
@American Brummie More democrat members are seeing what is coming in 2022, they want no part the upcoming Kevin McCarthy House of Representatives Democrats officially have a retirement problem (msn.com)
Yup. As I said, wait until January or February to be certain, but it's looking pretty obvious in the HoR. In the Senate, on the other hand, it's going to come down to the virus.
Devin Nunes (R-CA), owner of a fake cow and son of a fake mom, both of whom he has sued, is retiring. His district is R+6 but California is losing a House seat and will be putting together new maps - it's not clear yet how his district will change under the new maps.
Going to work for Trump’s media company. Matt Gaetz has apparently applied for their youth outreach program director. one of those is definitely true
