At least it's 2021 now - and I hope nothing ever happens again that stretches a Copa Libertadores' final into the following calendar year. May the Copa América, the European Championship, and the Tokyo Summer Olympic Tournament all happen this year as well and never be postponed again.

The pandemic has made so much worse in so many ways. Enough is enough.

    Let the games begin!

In Group A, I see Palmeiras and Del Valle as the likeliest to win the group. I cannot say I see Palmeiras as the likelist group winner given the quality Del Valle showed against Grêmio (although Grêmio missed many chances in the first half yesterday). As for Defensa y Justicia, it lost the first Recopa match to Palmeiras, and I know little about it so if it does reach the round of 16, it’d likely be a major achievement – although having won the Sul-Americana, it’s probably an up-and-coming team.

    Group B: Internacional and Olimpia.

Group C: Santos and Boca Juniors.

Group D: River Plate and... ?

Group E: São Paulo and Racing.

Group F: Atlético Nacional and Nacional.

Group G: Tough to call. Flamengo is the only team I think at the moment is guaranteed to advance.

Group H: Atlético Mineiro and Cerro Porteño.

The Atlético Mineiro vs. Boca Juniors penalty shootout made me want to laugh and to cry at the same time.

Tonight's return match between Fluminense and Cerro Porteño has been postponed to August 2 due to the recent death of Cerro Porteño manager Francisco Arce's son, Alexandro Javier Arce, who got into a fatal auto accident on Sunday, July 18.

    Alexandro was 20 years old.

You should switch the escudos for the teams from your country.

Flamengo vs. Barcelona and Atlético Mineiro vs. Palmeiras.

Only Barcelona is yet to win it, after 2nd place in 1990 vs. Olimpia and in 1998 vs. Vasco.

Flamengo won it in 2019, Palmeiras in 2020, and Atlético Mineiro in 2013.

Strong possibility of a second consecutive all-Brazilian final (this also happened in 2005 and in 2006).

Much better than the 1st game that's for sure. I hate the way we play but it has worked. But there is a good deal of luck involved. This team should not be 15 games unbeaten in CL.

We will need that kind of luck in the final against probable finalists Flamengo. They've owned us over the past 2-3 years.

Another all-Brazilian final, and the fourth all-time. Incidentally, it's the second consecutive one just as the first and second were also back to back.

The 2019 champion vs. the 2020 champion.

It doesn't get better than this.

Uruguay's Estadio Centenario will host the Copa Libertadores final match. Thousands of Flamengo and Palmeiras fans are expected to arrive. The government asked shops to store plenty of freezing-cold beer.

However, it turns out that the next day it's the national elections for the state pension savings bank. By law, alcohol sales are banned for the weekend...

Good, it's stupid. We adopted it just to copy Europe. The priority to decide a winner should always be that you gotta score more goals than the opponent to win, not score them here or there.

That being said.... Conmebol will probably go straight to penalties without extra-time, which is also stupid.

I would do a penalty shootout, with 4 kicks on the first leg and 4 more kicks on the second leg.

If the aggregate score is a draw, then the aggregate score of the shooutout would decide the winner.
