You add those kind of statements with the one Deyna made, and it just makes you really proud of the team, coach and overall program.
I think FSU is the best team remaining in the tournament by a pretty substantial margin. Good luck Seminoles! Bring another title to the ACC! FSU has had quite a long period now of sustained excellence. hats off. I still chuckle every time I think about your coach having the stones to keep his first team home for the ACC tournament years back. Quite a statement. Maybe they’d be playing some ridiculous 4-5 round ACC tournament now without that. And bringing about such an increase in international recruiting. All great for the college game. I only wish Stanford was left in the tournament so y’all could beat them in the final
Really. And in light of the news coming out of the professional and international ranks, truly thankful to hear about this staff’s professionalism and caring nature to their student athletes. Clearly noticed amongst the other coaches as well.
Whew man. Interesting start. FSU has put the ball in the net twice in the first fifteen minutes and both controversially called back to keep it 0-0.
I hate it when the Refs get involved. The first one where 30 was called offsides was close. I NEED to see it again. The second where he did a VAR absolutely should have been a goal!!
Yeah, I think if that second one is either on the ground or the camera is on the goal line it's pretty easily overturned to be a goal. It pretty clearly is in but without a good angle to review, tough for them to overturn since standard is incontrovertible evidence. If it got called a goal on the field, it definitely would have stood.
I'm sorry, but that was clear and compelling evidence. The ball came in at angle of about 45 degrees and hits the goal side of the line. IOW, it needs 3 inches at most. It bounced at that 45* angle in and is not touched for 1.5 to 2 feet and is CLEARLY IN! THAT OFFICIAL DID NOT HAVE THE GUTS TO CALL IT WHAT IT WAS! At least the right team won! On another note I am so tired of Flynn kicking it back to the GKer if anyone is w/i 10 yards of her. When she does venture forward, her passes are inaccurate. Mark, we need to be a bit more aggressive. "Faint heart never won fair maiden."
Her passes elsewhere tend to be heavy. Relies on her teammates to control it. She clearly doesn’t get as long of a leash to go forward as Madrid but agree there were about a half dozen times it looks like she could have just carried the ball to break their first line of pressure and elects a pass back to the keeper instead. She’s been improving defensively on the year tho so happy to see that!
you couldn't 100% tell from the replays provided that the ball was fully across the line. Congrats to FSU they were the better team on the day and battled through some adversity and pressure to advance to another college cup
Michigan gave us all we could handle. Hats off to UM, they played great and very well could have won today. Happy the Noles pulled it out! Onward and upward! Go FSU!
Tell the admin to spend more money and have better camera angles. The camera angles they showed on tv were very poor
If it was 3 yards over the line, it would have just about hit the net. It was close, I was closer to midfield so I can’t say one way or the other. Michigan played well enough to win; their only time to lose their runners in the box ended in a goal against them. They neutralized FSU and created enough chances to win. It won’t be long before UM is playing for a title.
I have rewatched it multiple times. Sorry that I can't post it. Techno dummy. The ball to me with just a teeny bit of extrapolation and my eyes looks to be at least a foot past the goal line before the diving GKer swats it back. IOW, if the ball could have been placed on the ground at its. furtherest penetration, it would have been beyond the goal line about a foot. That to me is not close! The VAR should have been enough to overturn. I get that the angle was not right down the line, but when the ball bounced on the goal side of the line such that 3 or 4 inches further and it's in, then the ball bounces forward at about a 45* angle 2 or 3 feet, it doesn't take a genius to see that! Maybe someone here can post it and see!
No doubt it was in. But deduction and video proof with proper angle are two different things. I would also like to see the offside goal at the correct angle. To me 2-0 was the fair score after those two incidents. Thankfully, the better team won.
It's not that hard to get a goal post camera installed. ESPN has been doing it since 2014 for Pete's sake. And that would give us the chiseled-in-a-tablet proof of a goal or not. Guess that's something else I need to mention to my rep when I re-up for the Coaches Club again. https://www.sportsvideo.org/2014/08/06/espn-debuts-embedded-goal-post-cameras-at-mls-all-star-game/
Rutgers and FSU should be a good game, but I think the Santa Clara and BYU will be absolutely a great game.
lol. 9 feet across the line you say? Also there are no seats parallel to the goal line. They start about ten yards up from the goal line. It wasn't three feet either. We all saw the replays, and while not conclusive, it looked *likely* to me the entire ball crossed the entire line. But it was by a matter of inches if so.
That team was full of seniors and 5th year seniors recruited by the previous coach. Undoubtedly a great team, but very much remains to be seen if that level can continue.
