Obviously Julian Alvarez’s has been on fire, but man I’m absolutely loving Palavecino’s form these last 3-4 games. He has been great and is finally showing his class. Honorable mention to Simon and Rojas too, who have also been playing at a top level.
That performance against San Lorenzo. ::chef’s kiss:: That run and pass to Braian against those frauds Talleres today. Beautiful!
Julián's 3rd goal against San Lorenzo was just an unreal show of skill, spunk and surgical precision. What a gem of a player he is, and I hope we can enjoy him for at least another semester.
I wonder if this is legit
The rumor has been going around in the last few days since supposedly Rueda told Juan Fer that if he wants to make it in Colombia’s squad for Qatar he should move somewhere where he’s regularly competing at a high level. The rumor grew even more after Juan Fer began flirting with a return on social media, responding “pronto” to a fans IG comment telling him to return and reposting a story about his time at River with the title “vuelta a casa”... he then posted something about “preparados para la segunda vuelta?” with emojis of River’s colors. Some Colombian reporters are claiming Quintero already got in contact with Gallardo, who allegedly gave him the green light to come back. By all means Quintero’s actions have given me faith that there is a possibility of his return (if he hadn’t said anything I would directly have said it’s humo), but we still have to wait and see.. the reality is that our economy is still very poor, so if a Brazilian club steps in (say Flamengo, Atletico Mineiro, Gremio), then things could get complicated since we wouldn’t be able to compete financially. Plus he is precisely the type of player Brazilian teams love. We’ll see, but I’m just happy to hear there is even a remote possibility of him returning
It’s incredible what a difference in class there is between River and the rest of futbol argentino. It’s clear as day in terms of passing precision, pressing intensity, individual technique, etc. Truly a whole different category from the rest, regardless of the names on the pitch. Notice how we’re missing “key” players like De La Cruz, Suarez, Enzo Perez, and Angileri (on top of losing Montiel mid-season), yet you can’t even tell. DALE CAMPEON!
Also LOL at Racing... I swear it’s not a clasico if we don’t hand them a goleada. 5-0 in the Supercopa earlier this year, the 6-1 in their stadium, 3-0 in the Libertadores, etc.... meanwhile, the bosteros can never beat them (including this season)
Vamosssssss Chicosssss! Dale Campeón!!!!! What a tournament river played. With no sympathy to Racing until last minute, it still probably should've been 8-0. Brian Romero is so wasteful its incredible. Scores two goals, but should have had 5. Pretty much every week is like that for him. Julian Alvarez is MVP of the league 10 times over. Robert Rojas epic at right back Palavecino came alive last 5 games after an indifferent start to season and river career as a whole. Carrascal has magic in his legs despite all the hate he gets. Gallardo= crack. Mientras tanto... Lady Gago... JAJAJAJA VAMOS RIVER CARAJO
Thanks Loco, it has been a busy year personally, so I have no been active on here. Even if I am not on here, be assured I am watching the matches. I will try and be around a bit more in the coming months. The Superclasico performance made me believe in this team, and its been an amazing ride to watch. The Talleres game was definitely the performance of the season though. To win with 10 men was the stuff champions are made of. One thing is for sure, this team needs Gallardo to stay and some real reinforcements to be competitive in the Libertadores. The big question is, surely Gallardo would not go to the Uruguayan national team would he? I know he has history in that country and is an idol of Nacional, but the Uruguayan national side is truly a sinking ship with no hope of qualifying for the World Cup. If Gallardo leaves, it should be for European club football, hopefully he stays and gives the Copa one more go...
Worst player to ever wear a River jersey... Well it’s between him and Arano (although the latter probably takes the cake tbh)
Se estrena escudo en breve en River (muy en breve)— Hernán Castillo (@HernanSCastillo) February 22, 2022 Well this piqued my interest on Twitter...
River's expected line-up today for Copa Argentina: Armani; Herrera - Maidana - Gonzalez Pirez - Gomez; Zuculini; Quintero - Palavecino - De La Cruz - Barco; Julian Alvarez It's insane to see such a quality midfield and then realize that Enzo Fernandez, Simon, Pochettino, Enzo Perez, and Suarez aren't even playing.. we really have an incredible squad right now. Good opportunity for Herrera and Gomez to shine too
I agree 100% - this is insane that we have so much talent and don't forget, we have without a doubt the most sought after manager outside of Europe. And even considering the European manager talent pool, I'd still rate Gallardo in the top tier of all coaches. Embarrassment of riches
Glad to finally have a fixture list but man do I hate the ever-shifting formats and the obviously improvised changes from season to season. I wish we would go back to a 20-team first division (or 22 teams top) and get a classic Apertura/Clausura or long season.
I'd be happy if River just stopped playing with RBs if it meant not having to see Herrera sucking in a River jersey.
The worse part is that Rojas was a CB his whole life, yet when he had to improvise as an RB he showed a lot more than Herrera, a natural in the position. Hell, Montiel was also originally a CB. Between Herrera and Elias Gomez our flanks are pathetic and bang average. It’s one of the key differences between this River and that of other Gallardo years, where players like Vangioni, Montiel, Casco, Mercado, and Angileri excelled and were fundamental to the overall gameplan.
