Red Bull have a chance to win their first international trophy today as RB Bragantino faces Athletico Paranaense in the Copa Sudamericana final ( the South American version of the Europa League). Bragantino is also 4th in the Brazilian Serie A. Expect a lot of Brazilians in Leipzig in the coming years. They've already bought one - 187cm tall 2001-born left-back Luan Candido. Unfortunately, it is going to be difficult for our German boys to make it there. I like the look of Raebiger though. I think he can succeed in spite of the competition.
Under Rose Dortmund are generally finding a way to win the games they are expected to, which under Favre is something that was costly. That’s what’s needed to stay in the race.
Favre had a very complacent attitude. Whenever BVB lost he always claimed it was no big deal. Rose on the other hand is quietly pushing the team to settle for nothing less than a win.
Gladbach and Hoff have caught up to Plastic Leipzig. Union and Mainz could go above them too with Ws.
Union Berlin=last season 2nd EVER season in 1BL and continues to show they are THE Berlin club. Hertha has rich investor and constantly flop. While Union low budget.
What I find impressive is that smart management and good trades can build a competitive Bundesliga club. What is wrong with the traditional powerhouses? (I'm looking at you Shalke). These are the guys that the Bundesliga clubs should emulate.

Age is a very important factor for pro scouts too. You are right although some coaches ( like Loew and maybe Luis Enrique) can discriminate against players in their late 20s who have never played for the national team before. If Dorsch and Maier get to the senior NT, it probably will not be in the next year or two. That's true. Overall, the level of most national teams is pretty bad. There are arguably only like 4-5 truly top national teams right now. Germany doesn't need world class players in every position to be successful. We won the world cup with Hoewedes at LB while Schuerle assisted the winning goal coming off the bench. Even though they had limitations, they at least had Champions League experience. I would like to see our senior NT players get regular playing time for Champions League clubs. Hopefully Dorsch and Maier will get to that level. Stiller appears to be on a better trajectory than them but things can change. One player that has impressed me this season is Paderborn's Sven Michel. He looks fantastic. He developed a lot in his mid to late 20s. His first season in the 2nd division was at the age of 28. So of course Dorsch and Maier will get better with experience. How much better? I don't know.
One of the criticisms of Hertha last season was that they used too many foreign mercenaries who didn't care about the club. They changed their philosophy over the summer and deploy mainly German players. In this derby, 7 of the players in the starting XI and 3 of the 5 substitutes were German and Hertha still sucks. No matter what they try to do, they always struggle. They are cursed.
main criticism was neglect of Academy players for foreign mercenaries. Hertha look better this season than last. no one cares about scouting. Dorsch is playing 1st ever 1BL season won't leave after 1 season anyways and Maier is only on loan. Neither is in desperate place ala Fein. if both become NT contenders min in 2023 that's also fine. Since WHEN is German NT a youth obssessed country? Germany has history of mid 20s-30s players. So 22-23 is nothing and its only 1st year post U21 as well. Flick recently played oldest NT XI since 2000 as well. this is also 1st time they play together since June and overall did well and better than Bayern M. Sabitzer out at HT shows the F of that M. Augsburg coach and all say both Dorsch and Maier upwards trending in past few matches. in any case from 98-05 Germany has tons of M and plenty of class ones. So if Dorsch or Maier make it in NT or not not deal breaker. But nothing wrong with adding more depth.
Bayern to also quarantine Gnabry, Musiala, Choupo Moting and Cuisance. Indefinite how long they're out for but with a CL match on Tuesday vs Dynamo Kiev, they'll presumably miss it. Although not that the result matters too much for Bayern. And next weekend they face Bielefeld https://www.fussballtransfers.com/a26516355718736352-vier-weitere-bayern-stars-in-quarantaene
on topic of Dorsch, ignoring that he plays for Augsburg (which also means he plays VS all top German clubs and also means chance to dev more too). how many German Ms or DMs in this case fit a Dorsch? One criticism of German Ms is that lack of aggression and lack of going for duals and tackles. but Dorsch a lot of times acts like 3rd CB, so shows a lot of agression, tenacity, goes for duals and tackles all time too. Also does well under pressure from pressing too. Dominated vs Dutch and Portugal U21 too. that's what makes more interesting too. England made Euro final with Ms from Leeds and West Ham too. Sometimes what you offer in diversity more important than club brand.
Curious if Bochum has enough gas in the tank to surprise people and stay afloat in the Buli throughout the entire season. The lack of depth on their roster makes it doubtful at a first glance but they've been hanging in tough so far. A reasonably solid defence seems to be their strong suit, and has helped them balance out the lack of attacking fire power. They're still far from being out of the wood though. Greuther Fuerth looks pretty bleak for any chances, while it feels like Arminia Bielefeld's run in the top flight for a few seasons could be at a high risk.
