It looks like CONMEBOL now gets 6 direct slots for 2026- that's great.

I think conmebol gets 6 guaranteed spots. One nation from each confederation then competes in some sort of play in tournament for the final two spots. I think that's what I read but I could be mistaken.

    48 teams actually lol

    -----

The 6 guaranteed spots would explain why some people were mad lol not to downplay other regions but South America is the most competitive and deserves it.

Alfaro being smart calling up those dual citizenship kids. Anybody familiar with that Almeida kid that plays for FC Barcelona?

Recently called up to barca first squad with Xavi.

Amazing passing skills for a cb he might later on evolve to a cdm later on.

Does it have to be an official FIFA date for that rule to apply? Or is it once you play for the senior team you can’t play anywhere else no matter what game it was?

The rule is that once you’ve been capped for a NT (excluding friendlies) you can’t change teams. Diego Costa was able to switch to Spain because Brazil never played him in a WCQ, Copa, CC, or WC only in friendlies. However since 2021 and the Nations League becoming a thing FIFA has decided that even if you play are capped playing a competitive game you can still change NT. The condition being that it has to be done before the age of 21 and they cannot have played in any WC matches or Continental Cups, this is to prevent NT’s from stockpiling players.

I read about him being able to play as a CDM and it explains why he's such a good passer.

It seems we're finding talents in defense but can we please find a talent up front lmao

It's three or more official matches. Friendlies don't count. For example Sarmiento is already tied to Ecuador.

I would like to see us go very offensive in this match. If we get an Estrada hat trick going that would be a good confidence boost for WCQ. Castillo got injured and will not be in this match. No Emelec or IDV players so who would we call to replace him. Jhon Espinoza, Denilson Bolanos, Joffre Monrroy?

    Galindez
    Almeida, Leon, Vallecilla
    Lopez, Alcivar, Carcelen, Mendez, Palacios
    Julio, Estrada

Reasco, Chala, Carabali, Cabezas and Cevallos would be subs I would want to see along with the replacement RB for Castillo.

Such a pity, Sarmiento started today and he just got injured 10 minutes into the game. Looks like a pulled hamstring, so he should be fine for the qualifiers, but he can’t reinjure it. Sucks that it happened just as he got the nod to start

Hopefully it's nothing serious and he recovers in time for the games in January

Castillo is out too. Knee injury from a few weeks back.

I hope our guys can get some ritmo by the time eliminatorias start back again. I feel like our league takes too long to restart thus hurts the NT.

The MLS season starts in February so that's not good. It's probable we'll be without Arreaga, Palacios, Mendez, and Cifuentes.

I'm surprised Alfaro hasn't played him much. I'd like to see him start with Alcivar in midfield.

Definitely a blow from a young man who was clearly picking up confidence.

Without going too far into a tangent on this....it's the biggest risk of working with younger players. Their pathway to success is fraught with obstacles - some get injured and never recover form, some plateau early and won't improve, some fizzle after a bright start, some walk away from the sport for other reasons, and a select few will stay and thrive.

I certainly hope that Sarmiento can recover physical shape/form as well as the mental...the poor kid gets injured in his debut match. That's absolutely crushing.

Good luck to him. Sending good vibes to our homie!

No disrespect to El Salvador but we shouldn't have tied with them. Disappointing performance. Estrada man...no way can he start against Brazil and Peru. With Sarmiento out for the foreseeable future Enner should start on the left, Plata on the right, and Mena behind the striker. It'll have to be Brayan Angulo or Jordy Caicedo up top. Alfaro should go with whoever is in the best form. Carcelen is worth keeping an eye on. Pinos is interesting. He didn't play much pero tiene buena Salida. Liga should go after him. He's younger than Galindez so he probably has another 3-4 seasons in him.

We tied against El Salvador so that sucks. Carcelen stood out. Hopefully after this game no more Lopez and Jose Carabali. This game also confirms we need a striker. Estrada needs to get benched and earn a starting spot back. I don't see how we can be successful with him leading the attack.
