OK. I'll expand on my opinion. Using every possession. And my concern goes back to the previous game as well where he turned the ball over almost every possession after coming on to hold the lead.

    This game:
    - 15 second mark- cmon that was brutal, on the break with acres of space in front of him and almost dribbles straight out of bounds. Has to last ditch slide to keep it in play. Bad.

    - 25 second mark- wins ball back after guy trips over the ball and takes it toward goal. Nicely pump fakes to give him space and totally shanks the left foot shot. Bad.

    - 32 second- easy square ball. Good.

    - 52 second: makes nice run and nice first time touch forward but it does not find his man. Average.

    - 1:26 mark: tried to hit guy down the line, tight space. Ok.

    - 1:28: what was that. Time on the ball and just boots it forward to no where. Panicked it seemed, needed some composure. Turned ball over. Bad

1:38: does well to toe the line, but bad touch seemingly whiffs on it to be honest, eliminated a dangerous potential threat. Any other touch puts him 1:1 on goal. Keeper stands him up and tries shot from no angle. Bad.

That's all his possessions. Defensively seemed fine.

Look, I agree this is an amazing experience for him and glad he's getting some time on the field. It will serve him well.

Last game wasn't good, go back and watch that. And then for this game, tell me where people think he had a good game with the ball.

It's OK for people to be critical of our players. This is my opinion of seeing his every possession the past few games.

He looks a bit like a guy who won an essay-writing contest as to why he should play in a Serie A game.

A bit rough, but I think he’s got promise. Looking forward to seeing him refine his technique

Oh it’s okay to be critical?! Thanks! :p.

my slight difference in thought is mostly your 15 second mark call out, that to me looked like he thiught okereke was going to hold his run and check back for a pass but he took off down the end line. Tessmans “bad touch” looks more like a pass to me. Which to me is thus average.

same with 25 seconds I’m giving him more kudos for getting into good position and more of a pass for shanked shot. Average.

More blah blah blah from me -> I think he looks average not bad. By no means think he’s killing it out there just feel like “bad” is wayyy harsher than I view it.

p.s: thanks for expanding on your thoughts!!

It worked great for Freddy Adu evaluations too.

You really don't understand? Evaluating players on all touch videos.

It literally was every possession he had, nice try. It is a perfect way to evaluate a performance like this. Don't compare that to some fan boy highlight of an Adu step over.

So, we can only comment on players if we watch the entire game? Give me a break. I'll remember that next time you make any reference to a players goal or highlight.

I see what you see, but I also see the upside there. Tessmann is still extremely raw with relatively very few professional minutes under his belt still.

    I'm with you Don.

Wixson7 is also right in that some of those touches are like a high school player
is on the field (or worse). Some others (good ones)reveal his upside potential as well. He has a physicality which allows him to match up well. He made some right decisions. He had a couple of nice touch moves too.

But when he is bad on the ball, he is really bad.....

It was so bizarre the sequence where he dribbles towards goal without a player on him.....trips over his feet like he never played the game....then smartly and powerfully won the ball back and charges towards goal....shapes the shot nicely, gets his feet set and hits a total clunker.....

I had such a large range of emotion in that sequence (from Homer Simpson 'duh'- to near euphoria- back to Homer 'duh') haha.

I certainly would not write him off, but, man- I could see him giving the ball away deep in his end in a critical situation so easily.

Hope Venezia can keep giving him minutes and he can work out the kinks

Comment all you want on all touch videos. I occasionally do, but you won't catch me making sweeping statements like "this boy is not great at soccer" from a single all touch video.

Clarification, it was 2 all touch videos. Ha.

And.. mostly curious. Are u mad at the all touch video or mad that I was so critical of him. I have a suspicion that this isn't really about the all touch video.

We have to at least agree that the past 2 games have not been great for the kid.

You can’t evaluate a player based on such a small sample size.

I'm not mad at either. I just think you're statement was over the top if it was based on two, as you've clarified, all touch videos. Even if it was more he's barely played.

    Watched the highlights video. Reactions:

Good energy and aggressiveness — got stuck in and made stuff happen. He created some chances, which is great.

Decent ball skills for a big guy, but also some bad touches that look like the kind of thing that happens to aa big youngster trying to make an impression.

Not sure how people are seeing a > Busio performance. I suppose if you put a really high value on chaos creators, which some do, then he was good at that. But to me he look like a bigger, gawkier Brenden Aaronson defensively. Busio is under control, in the flow, and makes penetrating passes, at least within the Venezia system. The poster for described the contrast between that system and the way the US MNT plays (on this thread or another) hit the nail on the head in my opinion.

He was meh. Some good, some bad but the quality is there. Although they're the close in age Busio has around 4000 professional minutes, including his time in Serie A. Tessmann approximately 2000. I'd expect Busio to be more refined at this juncture of their careers.

The really nice part is Busio is a locked on starter and Zanetti seems to trust Tessmann despite his hiccups. He's getting consistent sub minutes and the occasional rotational start. He'll be much better by the end of the season and their play should encourage Venezia and other Serie A clubs to come buy young American players.

Lots of people had doubts about both moves, I did, but wow Venezia has been spectacular and their American analytics guy deserves a round of applause. Well done so far on building a competitive, cheap Serie A roster.

I watched a little of the match but that time covered Tessmann’s entire shift. I can be a tough evaluator of talent but he clearly looked a young player trying to find his footing in the game. Nothing more. Nothing less. You saw some good. You saw some bad, You saw some play that was in-between good and bad. The all-touch video above pretty much highlights some of that good, bad, and in-between play. It’s what I expect from a young, unproven player. With all that said, everything I saw in the match from Tessmann - good, bad, or in-between - told me the kid just needs more experience and a little more tactical awareness. These are all action items and need attention. However, you can cross the action items off the list as you go and as you gain experience. IMO…. Bologna was a big match for Venezia. They are a top-half of the table club and 4 spots above Venezia. The mere fact that Tessmann played 31 minutes speaks volumes about his development. The manager trusted him enough to come into a 0-0 match. This wasn’t mop up duty. I think it should celebrated Tessmann earned 31 minutes. It was an up and down 31 minutes but a foundation is being laid for Tessmann. I just have to tell myself to be patient.

Busio was with the u15's and u17's. He has tons of experience compared to Tessman, beyond the minutes played for club.

I have not been on the Tessman bus other than admiring his attitude towards the game.Execution was another matter. However, it does look like the Venezia manager has a definite plan for Tessman and it seems to be working. Any room on the bus?

I gotta say, what a really random transfer. So many of our boys go to the Bundesliga or Premier League or a mid-tier league. Just interesting to see a kid from Alabama playing in Serie A. Something our state could only dream of bragging about.:(

Looked good here, much more composed on the ball.

But... you can't evaluate based on every touches videos..
