I hope the Ivory Coast is a possibility. Out of World Cup contention but are a decent side. Playing in Qatar feels unlikely because of the controversy about them hosting the World Cup. Going there for friendlies as well will fuel that.
We, and others, generally wait until WC draws are made and then try and find a similar opponent to those in group from outside the federation
No friendlies through between the Would Cup draw and the start of the World Cup. Every match after the draw before the tournament begins is Nations League.
In hindsight it obviously worked well, but had it been an ordinary performance then Kane would have benefit more from much needed rest and training. His performance this season has been a disgrace. Much of Kane is however about mentality, and Conte's introduction has given him an injection. Hopefully, he'll keep it up and deliver on a more consistent level for the rest of the season cause what he's deliver up until this international break is of a quality I wouldn't have signed on a free transfer.
I wonder how much that will be talked about. It's difficult to see how the players can advocate for the supposed anti-racist kneeling campaign while they're off to enrich Qatar, a country that literally worked thousands of migrant labourers to death in order to build the stadiums.
Are you going to boycott the World Cup or are you going to watch it? Genuine question, albeit obviously loaded.
The knee taking is a tricky one. I clap when the players do it because I genuinely believe that they are against all forms of racism. BLM however are a black supremacist group masquerading as an anti racist group. They said nothing about the attacks on Asians during the early stages of Covid. Qatar is also a Pandora’s box as given how much the left is in bed with Islam it’s hypocritical for any political side to really take a stand.
I hope Scotland and Wales can qualify... They do make a major tournament more interesting, but mainly I want to see them fail. Same if Canada can qualify.
Wonder if it would have been possible to play Kuwait as they are out of AFC qualifying. Have a second European team as a round robin thing and have two games in a similar sort of climate.
Again Kuwait is quite controversial in its own way. The FA seem to want to avoid going t9 the Middle East until the cup itself.
https://www.skysports.com/football/...istribution-has-given-gunners-a-new-dimension I think he's potentially better than pickford
Pickford has never let England down, so I think it would take something drastic for Southgate to change things in the short term. As for Ramsdale, things have been rosy at Arsenal so far, they have a big game this weekend at Liverpool, it not an exaggeration to say it the biggest test of his career, he'll certainly be under the microscope like never before.
Yeah I think Ramsdale will have to wait for Pickford to get injured or make a major mistake while playing for England to start in any game of importance.

Karen Brady has called for UEFA to change qualifying so that a pre round is introduced to remove the minnows alongside the nations league being scrapped. What effect would they be if instead of 10-12 non tournament matches a year national teams only play 6-8 ?
Nations would just replace them with friendlies anyway. The minnow games allow you to use your squad and the games are lower intensity. The debate also ignores that some minnow teams are actually getting better. Luxembourg and Liechtenstein have had some decent results. Even Andorra’s U21’s have recently been tough opposition.

It's so mind bogglingly arrogant to try and tell small nations that they need to pre-qualify just to spare the bigger teams the inconvenience of having to beat them.
It would be unfair on the minnows to make them qualify. The gate receipt from big nations help keep them afloat. The likes of San marino, Scotland, Luxembourg Andorra etc need to play the bigger nations to improve their levels. Scrapping the nations league as well would be pointless. Its given far more intensity compared to pointless friendlies it also helps tie players that would otherwise still be eligible for other countries
They scored 18 goals in two games against Cayman Islands and Aruba I guess we’ve played San Marino and Andorra.
