Having watched most of the 'big teams' recently. We have nothing to fear. England have probably been the most impressive side. Maybe along with France Germany. Yes the opposition are poor but 15 goals in 2 games with a plethora of players missing, we have great options. A year can make a big difference but we have some outstanding options. Maybe up front could be a problem but if mason Greenwood can find his feet plus dcl to come back. Abraham looks decent. Perhaps toney at Brentford might offer a different option. But when u look at our fullback options wide options and especially attacking midfield, there's very few teams that can compete. Even our keeper options look good now with Pickford ramsdale playing well (Pickford for England mostly). Henderson gets a loan move. Pope at Burnley. Johnstone will probably get a prem move. Also think midfield is looking better with Rice been outstanding. Phillips industrious. Henderson has still got it. Bellingham looks a star. I'm very positive Edit forgot about centreback. Maguire stones as dependable as ever. Tomori ghuei gomez konsa white all look good defenders. Mings is OK. Coady looks ok

Anyone know if there is any inkling of who will be playing in March? Would like to get Spain in the nations league to give us some more experience at playing a team who will likely dominate possession in midfield.
I suspect they will wait till after the Nations League draw on the 16th December to avoid having a friendly against a team being played twice in the nations league just months later.
Saw this, I'd also like to see England play a top team from another confederation. Maybe a Senegal or an Algeria or South Korea. Germany will face England away in March as part of the preparation for the World Cup. The DFB is looking for another opponent to face at home. South Africa is a candidate [@SPORTBILD] pic.twitter.com/djoMROzfgo— Bayern & Germany (@iMiaSanMia) November 17, 2021
Those Confederations are still playing qualification matches in March so the best teams are unavailable. All three of those teams have qualification matches at that point. Maybe England could have South Africa as well. Or the Ivory Coast.
Nations League draw is 6th December. Two friendlies in March (one being Germany.) Would love either Argentina or Brazil but is it viable?
Not flaming Argentina .. we’d have nobody fit to play afterwards They played like vicious thugs last night against Brazil .. only Messi and di Maria weren’t deserving of a red card .
South American teams are still playing qualification matches in March so that’s a no. England have never played Argentina since Messi debuted. Next year is surely the last possibility.
https://www.uefa.com/uefanationslea...-23-uefa-nations-league-all-you-need-to-know/ It’s 5pm GMT on the 16th.
The rest of this season will tell us if Grelaish makes the squad or not. If his form remains as it despite all the press coverage he is getting then is certain to. If it drops he might miss out for non injury reasons.
Just a friendly though. We beat Spain when they were the best team in the world, but no-one gives the actual result much value.
There must be a chance he won’t make it if he is fully fit but barely playing for Man City becausehe ends up badly out of form.
There's no way he doesn't play much for City on £350k a week as a £100m signing - he'll be persisted with and will be going to Qatar
It’s all if buts and maybes though tbh. Not much evidence of this, sure he hasn’t maybe stat padded if that’s the benchmark but for me he’s started off well at City and not really concerned that his form ‘ might ‘ drop off.
It depends on if he is affected by being front page of the Sun three times in a week. Some players are totally unaffected by their personal life but other players have admitted personal issues have caused their form to drop.
I don't think it'd be wise for us to be getting top tier opponents for the March friendlies. We're seeded third in the nations league anyway so basically guaranteed at least two top opponents in those games, and the fourth seeds are good standard too. We haven't played any non European teams since 2018 so that should be our focus, all the other confederations are busy but there's some decent African sides who didn't qualify who we should be looking to match up against. Also Qatar are available. I doubt it would go down well with clubs but taking the opportunity to play a couple of friendlies in Qatar, given its our only opportunity to prior to the world cup should be considered.
