Deliberate contact. I couldn't believe it. That was Neymar-esque, but it came from the referee.

Did everyone see how he just ended the half?

He might go straight to the airport at halftime.

There were like 3 Mexican fouls between the restart and half time. He finally whistled for the last one, but that was only because he decided it was half time.

This "path of least resistance" stuff from him is maddening.

Whatever foul count we end up with at the end of the game, we have to add one for that.

Speaking of foul counts, anyone watch Marrufo in Costa Rica?

31 fouls and 1 caution, with the caution apparently being the very last foul/action of the game in 90+2'.

This is not meant as a criticsm at all, but that feels like an ideal match for Marrufo.

Sounds like the VAR thing for January/March is basically official.

At least there will never be a controversial moment again in CONCACAF after tonight.

    :)

Do we know how many cameras there are for a match at San Pedro Sula or Kingston?

Like, does Jamaica's disallowed goal today get reinstated because there are only 6-7 cameras and none of them prove there was a foul?

Maybe Mexico will pack it in now and cut the ref a break.

Is this the end for Tata?

Cheap shot at 54' after the second goal couldn't possibly be an obvious caution, could it?

Of course not. I don't understand why Escobar doesn't take these gifts. And how he continues to get rewarded for not taking them.

When the broadcast gets three times better when your commentary feed dies, it says a lot.

I thought he had to have slipped or something like that because he couldn’t have just chest bumped him, right?

Credit where credit is due. The non PK call in the 63rd was good. Live I was sure it was a PK. Reply shows the defender got the ball.
But otherwise I share the consensus view here regarding the performance so far.

Does everyone remember when I said that making SPA not a cautionable offence when advantage is applied was the worst LOTG change ever?

Yeah, it's because nitwit referees woud do stuff like that. And believe they are correct.

    Wow.

The 72 minute is the problem with SPAA/advantage not being a card, IMO

Should caution for reckless for the collar grab since he can't give spa-f. It's not orthodox, but it would be justified for the blatant nature of the thing.

Now that was just awful and indefensible. The pull back is textbook SPA. And the advantage doesn’t materialize. But even if it had materialize, you absolutely have to go back and caution for the pull.

    Just remarkable it gets ignored.

If only there was a way to give a caution for UB that wasn't for SPA...
