This isn't even on Mancini, it's all on the players, they just don't want it and they've run out of ideas

You just knew that missed PK would cost us. Even at our best, we win by such thin margins we can't afford those mistakes.

Donnarumma was going upfield to score himself. Can't be any worse.

Yeah at the end of the day it was less about our result and more the fact they took care of business at home vs Bulgaria..........and we didn't.

I bet Northern Ireland feel proud of themselves for playing 11 men behind the ball the entire match at home. No wonder they don't get scored on there.

This is on Mancini for letting Jorginho take pks. And shout out to Serie A clubs for not developing us a good striker. Might as well call up Balotelli.

So there is no reason to blame Immobile or Bellotti anymore? Without them, Chiesa becomes Immobile or even worse. If Mancini haven't, he should know he need to change the formation and team dynamics. Italy is simply too predictable, and it seems no one is taking these two games seriously. Otherwise, you wouldn't let a guy who failed two penalties to take a third one simply to help him to restore the confidence at the price of missing another worldcup.

You can't drop points at home vs Bulgaria and then miss two key PKs vs Switzerland. That puts you in a situation where a team like NI can bunker and that's what happened. Ridiculous.

Insigne was HORRIFIC today and squandered two really good chances. Gave NI hope. Emerson was trash as usual. Chiesa tried but he wasn't very good today either since he was playing too far from goal and getting doubled every time.

It's time to man up though and stop being pussies. We can get through the playoffs and we might have Spina back by then. That will help a ton.

Playing a false nine against a team that bunkers is not a good solution BTW

At the end of the day, we should still go through and a good performance in the WC all is forgotten about this.

    Just want to avoid Portugal.

The kicker is whether it's Portugal or not my understanding is that last game is a ONE game playoff with the host to be determined by a coin flip.

I mean a lot can happen in a one game situation.

Well, it all depends. We are one of the "teste di serie". There are two "teste di serie" in each group of four. We play the first game at home against a theoretically weaker team. Then if we win, we play the winner of the other game. The location for the "final game" is picked by a coin toss believe it or not.

A lot of this will be decided by whom we draw. If we get a "teste di serie" that is on the weaker side, we should be OK.
