Into the future with Nmecha, Burkardt and Adeyemi? National coach Hansi Flick in striker luck

Lukas Nmecha, Jonathan Burkardt and Karim Adeyemi are the DFB team's big storm hopes.

For years, the storm center was considered a problem area for the German national team - now surprisingly, the national coach has some promising alternatives. Lukas Nmecha could benefit from the failure of seeded striker Timo Werner and make his international debut.

The red wine is already ready. After the German national team's World Cup qualifier against Liechtenstein this Thursday (8.45 p.m., RTL), Hansi Flick and Joachim Löw will toast with each other - as desired, with a clear win against the football dwarf and a great farewell to the world champion coach. "This game is special for everyone. We want to say thank you to Jogi," said Flick.
A team that has never played together in this form and will probably never do it again is supposed to ensure that its predecessor is well entertained when he leaves. After the departure of a total of seven DFB stars due to corona and injury, Julian Draxler, who is out for weeks with a muscle injury, also caught it. "I'm very sorry for him, he wanted to show himself," said Flick. Others are allowed to do that.

Right in the starting line-up? Lukas Nmecha is about to make his international debut
Especially the line-up in the storm center is exciting in the absence of the injured Timo Werner, who scored four times in the first five games under Flick. Wolfsburg's Lukas Nmecha will probably be in the starting line-up on his international debut - and that in his home stadium. In the first few units, the striker confirmed the strong impression he had last shown at VfL, where he scored six times in 15 competitive games. "He has already proven in training why he is there," praised the national coach. And colleague Thomas Müller went into raptures when he talked about Nmecha: "Lukas comes very close to the ideal of a classic striker and I hope that he will continue the run he has at Wolfsburg. It looked good in training, He scored a couple of goals there. He feels comfortable in the penalty area, has the physical capabilities and has a nose for goal. "

But Nmecha is not the only alternative to Werner. In addition to the many other offensive artists who are not so drawn to the center of the storm, such as Serge Gnabry, Leroy Sané, Marco Reus, Kai Havertz or Müller, Flick suddenly even has the right choice. The DFB coach: "A few weeks ago it was apparently still the case that we were looking for alternatives. It is now a little different."
Flick has Mainz high-flyer Jonathan Burkardt on his radar

After 20 competitive games at AS Monaco, the later nominated Kevin Volland has already made eight goals again, Flick confirms that he is "in good shape".

This also applies to Karim Adeyemi, who was one of the four players who had to leave Niklas Süle after the Corona case. Looking to the future - and also to the World Cup in Qatar next winter - the RB Salzburg clipper is of course still a very hot candidate. His current record: 22 games, 15 hits, two assists - the courted attacker has already struck three times in four Champions League games. "Karim has already left its mark on us," said Flick of the 19-year-old, who scored his first DFB goal in September in a 6-0 win against Armenia.

Most recently, Flick also watched the Mainz high-flyer Jonathan Burkardt (13 competitive games, eight goals, two assists) in the stadium and phoned him and his club coach Bo Svensson. "He's made a great development," said the national coach, who after consultation with U21 coach Antonio Di Salvo decided to leave the captain with his team this time, with whom he is fighting for the European Championship qualification during the senior team yes is already at the World Cup.

Ironically, in the position that has been causing the national team the greatest worries for years, there are now some hopeful alternatives. Flick and Löw could also toast that on Thursday evening.

Adeyemi is more than counters has dribbling too. And I hope for more and more options in future.

    very true,

I do hope Muller hits 50+. Also hope in 20-30 years we got another attacking Muller emerging. Currently there is 01 CF S.Muller on loan from 1BL AB but doubt he'll play Senior NT.

Interesting topic lads. I support a German off topic chat thread and will open one tonight. Feel free to discuss the topic there. For this thread it would be kind to return to more football related stuff.

Listened to the gegenpressing pod today - seems to be a lot of general optimism about the 9 situation now with 4 decent options even if Werner and Havertz remain awkward

So have had a look Germany will stay fifa ranking 12th position - the only team we could catch for 11th spot is Netherlands .
    Germany has to win
Netherlands Must draw or loose their game .

Even if Denmark looses we won’t catch up to them .

    I guess to come back
To No1 flick has to win all the games up to and including the WC final .

OK so what I have found is this....

The friendlies in March will only be decided after the November games - due to the fact that they not sure yet who all need to go into the playoff games.

A strong contender for one of the games is England in Wembley. That should be a good game, and time to beat the English again in Wembley...If Germany beat them they will automatically get better odds of being a strong contender for the WC.

Always thought that Flick wanted more of a pure CF in his tactics but maybe it could be a
consequence of having Lewandowski at his disposal every game to

I see Tah is getting a chance wonder why Brandt then did not get a chance ? Anyway don’t think either of them would go to the World Cup

As I said I won’t critic Flick until next year if needed . Seems he has it all under control for now .

But Baku had a good game last game so why not give him another chance ?

Are we playing 4-2-3-1 or 3-5-2?

I believe it’s 4-2-3-1 where Hofmann is right wing instead of right full back …

But now that you say it , it could be with 3CB … with Raum and hoffman being the wingbacks … but the line up shows 4-2-3-1

Not that we need 5 defenders against Armenia …

Was it Jogi on Thursday that whispered into flick ear - play a 3-5-2
