I’m late on the Zman bandwagon, but he has really impressed me lately. I feel confident as a fan with him in there,

No he knew what he was doing. He draws the foul, gets a tap and goes down like a ton of bricks. If he doesn't get the defender yellow carded he wastes a good 30 seconds.

    Possibly. We'll see.

Pepi is talented, but still too inexperienced to be the leading man.

Yes. Weah was better but Aaronson's craft and industry isn't replaced by Pulisic. Pulisic does, however, replace Weah's 1v1 ability on the right. So I disagreed with the move. It did work, though. I'm happy about that, and I owned it right from the start. I also would've preferred replacing Wes on a yellow instead of Musah, who Mexico could not handle, but that, too worked out well, and credit Berhalter for getting those calls right.

Are you actually trying to antagonize me? LOL

Anyway, I don't know how you've escaped my ignore list before now, but by the time you read this I'll have rectified that. Goodbye.

He provides physical dominance, commitment, anticipation, and general leadership that nobody else has been able to provide.

This was a good performance. A really good performance by several players including Zimmerman, Steffen, Weah, and McKennie as well as Pulisic obviously after he came on.

    - 3-0 against Mexico this year including 2 trophies and a newly fashioned, new generation Dos a Cero where we stood up toe-to-toe and created our chances from possession while Mexico could only threaten on the counter. Welcome to the New US/Mexico Rivalry.

    - The Weah-to-Pulisic goal was world class. The bending whipped ball was ridiculous from Weah and Pulisic put that ball on a dime off of the crown of his head while flying off balance at a high speed. That’s a champions league-level goal.

    - Zimmerman was killer. He frustrated both Jimenez and Lozano. Guy was absolutely dominant.

    - GREAT job, coach. That was an extremely well-coached game. The lineup choices were spot on, the subs were excellent, and the tactics highlighted our strengths and kept Mexico from theirs.

    - Is Wes the new LD in this series?

Busio has been plenty tough in Serie A and he has the ability to unlock defenses with his long balls, something the USA is missing badly. He should definitely start in midfield against Jamaica

yeah, if it comes down to Busio vs Acosta, I wont lie, Ill be pretty disappointed if Busio isnt starting. Need those nasty corners and set pieces and his confidence on the ball. That and hes getting a bit of a nasty streak hmself.

That second half felt like we were playing Haiti or something. Never thought i'd see the day when Mexico would be afraid to pass the ball out of their own half against the USA.

    Yes, the tables have turned.

They didn’t build up their chances from possession…they counter attacked us like we were Holland. Nuts.

    Tata is scared of Berhalter.

Tata has pulled an early Berhalter and stuck with his comfy blankets too long. They looked old and tired. Even though there were fleeting moments of technical genius here and there, they were few and far between, and they were chasing blurs much of the night.

And Berhalter seems to have internalized the notion that playing your best players and game planning around that is the way to build an elite team. (Fingers crossed, anyway.) If he has, given the age of this squad, the sky's the limit for this USMNT. We already have that "which really talented player do you play" dilemma at a few positions when everyone is healthy; my best guess is that we will have it at most positions by Qatar--assuming the most talented are the ones who get the looks and the minutes between now and then.

After about the 30th minute we just looked like the better squad.
This young team has so much potential it is so exciting.

    I love it.

    Dos A Cero!

Now we have to follow it up with 3 points in Jamaica. No emotional hangover please.

    Yep

I was most impressed by Musah. He was Kante-esque. Pulisic was at his best when he came on. He just proved to me he belongs at striker. Is the reason he doesn't play striker b/c he's too short to score on headers? Really? Or is Pepi more skilled with the ball? Anyone think that? I thought Wes was a bit off some of the night, but, hey, he scored and almost had two. Weah played really well as the match wore on. He is looking like a USMNT starter, but he'll have more opportunities. I thought Pepi probably just had a bit of an off night, maybe associated with playing vs. Mexico. I would definitely play Aaronson-Pulisic-Weah up top vs. Jamaica. I thought both of our outside backs had rough first halfs, but played better as the match wore on. Antonee Robinson didn't play as well as he has in qualifying up until now. He was superb up until last night. I'd have subbed him off. I'd really like to see Scaly get minutes against Jamaica.

Yep, amazing. I think a bit of an emotional hangover in Jamaica is almost inevitable. I expect it to be a situation where we just hope to scrape out points.

As many have noted, Zimmerman had a great performance, and it follows other excellent performances. He has become a complete defender: great positional awareness, excellent passer, physical when necessary, and of course offers a lot on set pieces both on defense and offense.

And he and Adams seem to be on the same page in their positioning and reads.

With Steffen, Zimmerman and Adams solidifying our center, all of our attacking options were given the green light last night. Will this “trust the D and attack” mindset continue as we get closer to Qatar? Who knows, but I’m cautiously optimistic.

"Tata sucks and needs to go."

"USA always plays up for us and is not always this good."

"They needed racist ticket distribution tactics to keep Latinos out of the stadium and beat us."

You know , the typical emotional objections and premises with no real facts or logic.

That’s not really fair. There’s a lot of self reflection as well, a lot of blaming their development system, a lot of blaming the fact they don’t have many players in Europe. A lot of their fans seem to recognize their program is going through a rough patch even if they aren’t excited about giving any credit to their rivals.

Sure there's posts like the ones you posted but that is an answer to a different question.

The bulk of Mexican fans aren’t blaming the result on racist ticket sales strategies.

No one said the bulk of anyone did anything.
Just giving spin jobs I have seen posted in forums.
