I know he's the PK taker and all, but they should've had Berardi take it this time.

I don't think he'll ever come back from that. I have never seen him that nervous before a pk. I'd only make him take it if we are up 3-0.

was a pretty soft PK anyway. one the ref doesn't want to give but is forced to by technicality once he checks the var.

100% agree. Berardi had a monster half

Anyone but Belotti, twat. In fact we looked more lively when Berardi came on for him and we played with a false 9. You must be new if you think Belotti is a reliable option.

Why the hell is Jorighno still taking penalties.

The qualifying campaign has been piss poor. Multiple players gave substandard efforts today but it must be said that Mancini got outmanaged. Starting Belotti was a mistake. He waited far too long to switch over to a false 9. And even with that personnel, we didn't create all that much. Very disappointing.

We have a 2 goal advantage, but will be playing away while Swiss play at home. And they put 3 past Bulgaria in Sofia..

Jorginho missed 3 crucial penalties. Cannot be our first taker seriously.

Anyways, we just need to beat Northern Ireland. They are tough to beat at home.

I don't have to guess. Everyone saw we were a lot more lively playing with a false 9. He should have done this from the start. In fact, he had before. You don't have to play with a traditional striker when your best options are shit like Immobile and Belotti.

LOL, sure. You realize Sommer was at fault for Di Lorenzo's goal, right? GTFO.

He is expected to fetch the cross on the play Di Lorenzo scored. That's a clear error. The stop on Barella was a good stop. Jorginho didn't even test him on the penalty. You don't have a clue.

Shut up, idiot. Those of us who follow this side and actually know football have seen Belotti and Immobile do horribly for this side. It's ridiculous that we are four years removed from the last World Cup where both failed miserably and they still have spots on this squad. Neither was very influential in the Euros.

When it clearly doesn't work you can try a couple things. One, a new formation, which Mancini is understandably reluctant to do given we won the Euros having to play one of the strikers above in a 4-3-3; or two, modifications to the existing formation, i.e., a false 9; which he has done before today and which, when he tried today, had us playing better.

You don't know anything about football and your posts are embarrassing. You are advocating for a striker who has never proven himself at this level and laud the effort of an opposing GK today who made a clear error that costs his side. GTFOH.

A rather disappointing performance although credit to Switzerland who played very well, particularly in the first half and scored with a great counter-attack.

I thought the rigore was a bit soft.

Nevertheless, Italy remains in pole position to qualify; I don't see the Swiss scoring more than 2 or 3 against Bulagria, although Northern Ireland are yet to concede a goal at home so far in this group.

One thing which has become evident since the summer is that the team needs to evolve more than what Mancini has done so far.

Too many players without a future for the Azzurri are still called and play.

I agree Mancini should of started with a false 9, but other than Immobile, Belotti is the best we have at that position. There is no way he should be dropped from the team until a more reliable option shows up. Let’s not forget that he is not 100% fit either. You are very passionate about the team, but also rather negative all the time.

I like having Belotti come off the bench. He should be at the WC IMO based on our personnel.

I would rather have started Raspadori who played well against Lithuania last month.

Raspadori is not that good of a player and won’t even approach the level Belotti finds himself at right now.

On the verge of missing two World Cups in a row?

    Ouch! I hope not!
