The most logical decision would be to bench Messi vs Uruguay and only bring him on if needed. The guy is just coming from an recurring injury.

If we can only use Messi for one of the two games, I'd prefer to be against Brazil at home. . . feels like potential overconfidence on our part, but we might be able to beat Uruguay with a B team - Uruguay is starting to feel like a shell of their golden generation. Their last two outings were horrible and its not getting any better. If Messi can only play one game, I think we can afford to rest him against Uruguay.

Julian needs to stay at River and dominate up to the World Cup. Confidence is a big part of the game.

Looking forward to Dybala and Julian getting significant time in the match tomorrow.

The tests carried out on Sergio Agüero are very negative. The possibility that he may not play football again is present. [cat radio]

Brazil classified. You guys that there is a chance that they might use an alternative starting 11? since they already qualified, and might want to tryout new lineups

also, when smart NT qualify, they don't use the main starters as much, so they can gain good will with the clubs (nothing makes a club happier than to hear that Neymar/Messi/Ronaldo/Lewandowski, etc don't need to play on a FIFA date)

They probably won't start their B team, as they will try not to lose to their historic rival.

At least Casemiro is suspended so that's one good news.

Another thing is, Brazil keeps winning will actually makes things easier for us since we're second place. The fact they just beat Colombia made our position more safe. Chile rise to 4th place but they'll face Ecuador next so another points will dropped between them.

I'm still expecting 4 points from this round at minimum.

I rather beat Brasil than Uruguay, tbh. We can tie in Centenario for all I care but we have to beat the brazucas at home.

I wonder if covid had anything to do with his heart condition. He was infected with the virus earlier in the year, and supposedly it can cause heart inflammation and cardiac arrhythmia even after you recover.

Dybala will start instead of Messi.

I’ve got a feeling that Dybala will score one today.

Could well be. This family of viruses is responsible for many cases of myocarditis.

The other unwelcome diagnosis could be hypetrophic cardiomyopathy which is the abnormal thickening of the walls of the ventricles and dependent on location and degree of can cause heart failure or reduced stroke output.

It presents with symptoms like shortness of breath under exercise conditions as well as arrhythmias both fast and slow and general fatigue as well as visible symptoms due to the blood volume not being distributed as it should be in the network.

Of course we all hope it's the former and really Kun could retire happily and put his health and family first. We all wish him the best. He has been the best PL striker in history and while he never managed through injury, bizarre coaching decisions to make the same impact at the senior level for Argentina as at the junior and club football he is one of the finest strikers to grace the pitch from the last fifteen years. A prodigious talent.

Messi for his own good needs reining in at times. The maxim is always play eleven fully fit players. Even a player as great as Messi when unfit is going to hamper proceedings. We will qualify but we need him in tip top shape for the Mundial. Now would be a great time to see how we do without him.

Who can step up and fill those huge shoes ?

Also there has been news regarding the tragic death of Emiliano Sala. The man responsible for organizing the fateful flight has been jailed for the paltry total of eighteen months.

He selected a pilot who was banned from flying the light aircraft type (which was unsuitable anyway and has a far from good safety record) and had not been rated for flying at night contrary to all civil air regulations here in the UK.

All the decisions from using that plane and pilot were made the judge stated for the sole purpose of making quick money. He really ought to have jailed the murdering idiot for much longer but sentences for criminals here are often pathetic.

I hope Kun looks after himself. He needs to listen to all his doctors. You can’t put a price on good health. He’s got a young child, who we are all hoping will have the genetics of grandpa and father. We need another short, dark haired #10 taking the world by storm.

The Sala case still breaks my heart. His poor father died a few months after his son. He died of a heart attack. That family has suffered a lot. I wish them nothing but love.

That is good news. Scaloni has the guts to put Messi in his place for his own good.

And kudos to Scaloni for realizing Dybala should be the one to take over. Dybala really needs to put in a good performance.

Looks like Julian has a bit of muscle discomfort and may not play. Damn it, I was hoping he’d get minutes.

Noooooooooo....... Hope he is fully fit to take on Brazil. But his fitness is a priority not just for him but River. Relations between the AFA and clubs need to improve. This is one way of doing it.
