Dest needs to get out of there. From the 4-5 games I've seen, there's a distinct lack of interplay between him and the other players. He seems out of step with the rest of the team. Just an observation - as someone else noted, I see his future on the bench this year.

The squad for tomorrow's CL match @ Dynamo Kyiv ...

Pique is out. So are Aguero and Roberto.
Dembele is finally back. F. de Jong and Fati return.

I'm going to suggest the reports of Dest's Barca demise are premature.

The reports of Barca's demise, however, may be more accurate...

Dest is doing fine, and any adversity he faces is a plus for us, as long as he bends but doesn't break.

We shall see about Barcelona, there's still a ton of talent there. Starts with a win tomorrow, and CL advancement. In the league, a win Saturday and the slow climb toward a top-4 finish. Very doable if the players stay healthy.

It is certainly not out of the realm, but I was a bit more sanguine about it a few weeks ago... time keeps on slipping slipping... into the future... and they just don't look very sharp in general. Expected more from Memphis. Maybe he settles over the next bit, but it won't be hard for them to end up mid-table.

Not sure why Dest would even consider joining that PL-leading, CL-winning sh!tshow.

Chelski winning the EPL with CP and Dest means my sins are greater than I ever knew (and I knew they were bad) and Karma is coming for me like Roy Keane on meth.

The numbers listed for him don’t really make sense to me. I get that Barcelona is having financial difficulties, but 35 million euros would not represent a huge return on what they paid for him, and from what I understand, he’s not on huge wages. And, they’d have to find a decent replacement.

I could see them being tempted to sell for something like 45-50 million euros, but that would require a buyer who really wanted him. Of course, Barcelona has made a lot of really dumb decisions recently, so selling him for 35 million euros wouldn’t be out of character for them.

To be clear, I'm not convinced, just happened to notice it. But you also can't discount Chelski buying whatever catches their eye.

As a wingback in Tuchel's system it would certainly be interesting, but 1) Reece James isn't going anywhere, and 2) not sure his skillset screams Premier League to me. Not that he couldn't succeed there, but not sure it's the best fit.

But it would be nice to have him feeding and working with CP on the left side.

The guy is weak and can’t handle the pain. (Wait, is this the Pulisic thread?)

PSG paid 60 million euros for Achraf Hakimi. I love Dest, but I doubt he is within shouting distance of Hakimi's valuation.

Yeah, I don’t disagree. I just don’t see Barcelona looking to sell him for that much unless they’re facing liquidation (which they very well could be at some point, but don’t seem close to yet). And Dest seems very happy there, so he’s not going to be pushing for a move.

I would normally agree, but they are facing a binding financial constraint, and positions other than right back might be a higher priority. Take money from Dest plus whatever else they can pull together and look for Busquets or Pique replacements. Or someone better than Luuk de Jong.

"On Friday, Qatari club Al Sadd in a statement that they had “agreed on Xavi’s move to Barcelona after the payment of the release clause stipulated in the contract." Xavi, who will succeed Ronald Koeman, made 767 appearances as a midfielder for Barcelona."

Let's hope Xavi is not stuck in 2007 Tiki-Taka mode.
