Cowell has to be up there. Matthew Roou, Roald Mitchell, Sam Sarver, Fabrizio Bernal, Tyler Freeman, Patrick Weah, Fede Olivia, Jackson Hopkins, Christian Torres, Korede Osundina, Diego Otoya are some other options. Not all of them are natural CF’s, but most of them have played the position before, or project to being able to play the position IMO. I don’t think it’s a bad group of depth, if hypothetically the top 3 are Pepi, Sanogo, and Cowell.
What ussocer said...........................plus Sealy. Still a project, but he has a lot of tools. Has anybody seen enough of Fede Oliva to have an actual opinion? A legitimate big-time prospect or a kid who happens to have a big club on his resume?
Fede is pretty solid with his feet, and a good athlete. But doesn’t yet have any parts of his game that I would consider to be a standout trait or elite yet. In the 2004 cycle he was a locked in starter and arguably a top 3-5 prospect. When moving up into the u20 cycle whether he makes rosters or not is up in the air because this winger pool is deep with guys getting it done at the first team level who also would likely be progressing the same way is Fede is at Athletico. Fede may be a guy who was very negatively impacted by the u17 cycle getting cut off after not making a huge impression in the only u17 camp From that first 2004 camp Zach Booth was the only winner from people I’ve talked to. Apparently the kid was top shelf the entire camp and a level above everyone. Zach may not be super involved in this new u20 cycle again because of the significant depth in his position in the older 2003’s where that year gap at this age does make a difference
Ahead of the upcoming U20 roster announcement, here are the minutes leaders for eligible players in both MLS and USL (1000+ mins) this season. A bunch of the headliners will be missing due to playoffs, so this is a big chance for some fringe guys to make their case for inclusion. pic.twitter.com/yBMzQiXiPl— We Are Being Overrun in Midfield (@OverrunMidfield) November 2, 2021
I am certain Seattle won’t release Reed Baker-Whiting but I would have loved to see him. It’s not even playoffs - it’s still the regular season and some of these guys have USMNT calls already.
The top 5 thread eligible players in terms of G/A per 90 with a minimum of 500 minutes in USLC. 1. Tyler Wolff .990 G/A per 90; 636 mins 2. Diego Luna .653 G/A per 90; 1928 mins 3. Roald Mitchell .630 G/A per 90; 571 mins 4. Jonathan Gomez .487 G/A per 90; 2217 mins 5. Serge Ngoma .435 G/A per 90; 827 mins If you up the minimum number of minutes to 1000 in USLC then it's 1. Diego Luna .653 G/A per 90; 1928 mins 2. Jonathan Gomez .487 G/A per 90; 2217 mins 3. Johnny Perez .397 G/A per 90; 1132 mins 4. Christian Torres .289 G/A per 90; 1243 mins 5. Antonio Leone .179 G/A per 90; 2011 mins
He hasn't been too good this season, but he deserves a call up at some point. I'm not sure he's good enough currently, but it may be close. I think the 03's and 04's are sufficiently deep in midfield that he's down the depth chart for now. His teammate, Leyva, is also likely going to be unavailable, which may get some other players called into this camp.
D.C. United homegrowns Jacob Greene and Jeremy Garay receive U.S. U-20 national team invitations. Garay, a dual national, has played in friendlies for Salvadoran senior national team. #dcu #mls— Steven Goff (@SoccerInsider) November 1, 2021
Dude named his kid Beckham. How can you quibble with that?!?! It makes sense - not good sense - but given US Soccer's MO and current situation it makes sense to go with Sunderland because he's worked with the USSF preciously and is currently heading an MLS academy so he has a lot of youth contacts. He's actually pretty well-respected but he keeps ending up in piss-poor situations for player development - Chicago, Portland, Cincinnati - which makes one question why, if he's so good, he doesn't end up in better places.
Makes sense, he was the guy who coached this 2003 group in their u16 cycle and was the coach during the only u17 camp last cycle
Sunderland has a very different profile than Hudson, who had coached two national teams and an MLS organization before getting the job. Like Ramos, I guess, he'd been coaching youth (not a perfect parallel, of course), and played some pro ball, though not at the levels of Ramos or Hudson.

Sunderland would be a nice interim option if they’re any to wait for luchi who imo is going see what the mls job market brings first
I think Miazga said the same thing. Did Las also say the same thing? I think he might’ve. I think we are a long way from worrying about this for many reasons.
