So I guess he’s benched. I didn’t see his last game but the Total Soccer Show guys were not impressed with his passing.

He had one mediocre game after five solid ones (and a cameo) and that was enough to get the bench.

PS: They're playing a more standard 4-man back line now, too. With Matt, they were using a 3-man line often.

He had a nice exchange with Dest today.

    DNP. Follows the usual pattern.

At some point he'll get back in the lineup, show well, and after four or five solid games, he'll get benched again until they send him back.

I wonder if Miazga just annoys people. Like did he make fun of someone’s height again?

Because passing is the most important thing on a relegation battling squad sitting in 17th. Those guys make their opinions off secondary considerations way too often.

Well none of us know what the Alaves coach is thinking. But he benched Miazga and now they’re in 14th.

Alaves asks their CBs to play a lot of long balls and Miazga isn't very good at it.

It's also less that he actively "got benched" and more that he's the #3 CB and Florian Lejeune came back from injury.

Turns out that Alaves' coach is only one inch taller than Diego Lainez.

passing is very important for all players....teams who cant pass get relegated.

    nothing secondary about it.

Yoohoo! I hope Mat's agent is looking. West Ham's CB is out. Craig Dawson Is next in line. Mat is 10 years younger. Zouma is the other CB. I'm sure they know. each other. Could it possible happen? Can we have a community prayer service?

Craig Dawson is as much on the fringes of a much better England side as Matt is on the USMNT. And there's also fairly highly rated Issa Diop as 3rd choice. Matt would be at best 3rd/4th, and 5th when Ogbonna gets back...

And in what world does Matt play for a top 4 EPL side?

Don't worry, the deal wouldn't have time to go through while W Ham is a a "top 4 EPL side." But still - it seems a bit of a stretch.

    FYP.

But yeah, I could easily see Miazga as a regular for a top 6 Championship/bottom 6 EPL side. He's found his level, or so it seems. Well done to him and good luck in the future, but the US MNT has plenty of depth ahead of or around him - Chris Richards being only the most obvious

Should've said top 6 side . As a West Ham fan, it's been an amazing time to follow them. 6th last year and better so far this year. I think they'll finish top 4 and are a very solid, balanced team. They could do with another striker though so maybe we're in the wrong thread...

They have been pretty shockingly consistent, but I'll be surprised if they can keep it up... And I doubt MM is going there.

I wouldn't. Czech billionaire (and Sparta Prague co-owner) Daniel Kretinsky has just pumped 200 million sterling into West Ham in exchange for a 27% stake. There'll be money for signings in January and that'll relieve the physical pressure on Antonio, but also on the other members of a pretty small squad. Another striker and a dual-use CB/CDM or CB/ full back should give them that bit more running in the last 10-12 games of the season.

It also means that any CBs they do sign will be in a much better class than Miazga.

MM to West Ham seems way off track. There is really no sniff of this + he just joined Alaves, and his track record last 5 years is not going to attract them.

Good for Moyes. He did good work with Everton for so many years, and
got bludgeoned for his short time at Man U. Glad to see he has found a home,
and is demonstrating his abilities again. I'll forever have a soft spot for him,
and how he gave McBride his chance at Preston and later Everton- opening the door for more Yanks in England.

We shall revisit our predictions in May on the Plains of Abraham! (But it seems we are in agreement they aren't likely to go in for our guy... even more OT this made me realize BS desperately needs a "pop this prediction back up in May" button on posts so we can lord our lucky calls over other folks - or delete our accounts as the case may be...)
