The IFAB seems ready to make the 5 substitute rule a permanent change to the LotG.

That seems kinda huge. And seems like it'd be a huge benefit to the top tier teams. I've been thinking that, once that got rolled back. the US wouldn't fare as well. But I guess now we'll never know.

I have to wonder how many coaches would take advantage of that.

Sometimes they don't even use 3.

Sometimes they use it all the last 3 minutes to waste time. This part is the one that I dread the most. I imagine a close final, where the last minutes are just wasted substitution time. It is noticeable with 3, with 5 could be baaad.

Would teams still only have 3 windows to make substitutions? If so, the 5 subs doesn't take much longer than 3.

Ah, I hadn't been aware of that requirement. Good question.

As long as there are only three opportunities to make a total of five substitutions, I'm all for it.

Now the IFAB needs to get more refs on the pitch.

    France.
I'd rather see us go back to 2 subs.

Rich clubs favored. Heavy metal soccer favored.
