Just gotta keep winning our games. Forget the rest. Would have been nice if Pote showed up too. Paulinho does everything else well up front including alot of the dirty work that makes space for the rest. Just needs to keep practicing, put him in front of the net in training and have him practice finishing over and over...
Next match will be another home game vs Guimarães. Will be tough but hopefully another 3 points. So far we've been able to manage the CL and league schedule fairly well. Anyone remember when we had CL hangover and would drop so many points domestically? All the critics have been saying that we're finally gonna start crashing this season but so far we've had the best defense once again (defense wins championships) and grinding out results even if it's 1-0 or 2-1, even with injuries and out of form Pote, Paulinho or Inacio. Since last year we have played 54 games, and only lost 4! Ajax and Dortmund, Benfica (after we already clinched the title) and Maritimo for the cup last year. Amorim and his coaching staff deserve a ton of credit IMO. We have two midfielders in Matheus and Palhinha who have exponentially grown and could easily give us a fortune in the future, maybe Newcastle will be knocking on the door soon? We got Bragança and Ugarte as great subs and being worked to replace the first 2. We got a chance to buy a fantastic RB in Porro for 8.5M and potentially sell for triple. We have yet to receive another 40M for Nuno Mendes too. We have a 20 year old center back who if he was starting for our rivals would be on the cover pages and worth 80 million.
Starting XI Adán; Inácio, Coates, Feddal; Porro, Palhinha, Matheus Nunes, Matheus Reis; Pedro Gonçalves, Paulinho, Sarabia.
HT 1-0 to the good guys. Adan saved us in the beginning but after 10 minutes we were much better and deserve to be winning. Coates once again scores - what a beast! Sarabia/Pote also looking really good.
Guimaraes plays well, keeps the ball and plays all across the pitch. Really wish one of those other goals counted.
It's funny. I literally never see VAR aggressively check goals in Benfica or Porto games like they do us. Almost certain that first goal wasn't offside. You can tell by the lines on the grass.
