Dallas should be cake Saturday. The Goats went through them pretty smoothly and Pepi has a foot injury. A zero-excuse match at home if I ever saw one. :)

Also, word is Mexico has called up Julian Araujo for their match against Ecuador next Wednesday which means he wont be available for our Sporting KFC match and maybe Dallas too. :(

Galaxy does not have to allow him as it is not a FIFA specified international window.

Efrain Alvarez has grown so much lately, and he's calmly becoming very influential for this team. Vanney has made a great job to give him more and more importance. Next season could be the breakout one.

Does someone have the number of PKs drawn by Cabral this season? For all the crap he's done, I guess it's a solid number.

No help from other MLS matches. Playoffs still hanging by a thread.

However, if you are a glass half full kind of person, 4th place and a home playoff match is now a real possibility if we end season hot.

Sorry to quote myself, here is the answer : the Galaxy have drawn five PKs this season, and scored four (all by Sacha, Chicharito missed one). Chicha and Cabral drew two each, and Alvarez one.

So I was wrong because I guess Cabral is often fouled, but not that much into the box.

    Amazing game:
    Efra crossed with his right!
Cobi Jones said some insightful things
Cabral calm accurate finish in the box

    Keep it up, Galaxy

Exactly, fourth place is only one point away from us because Portland lost to Vancouver last night. The next team higher than Timbers is Rapids whom are 7 points away from us.

Now Portland has to face Colorado at mile-high Colorado and with the form the Timbers are showing I doubt they win that. Galaxy on the other hand has little biddy eliminated Dallas without Pepi.

We should have HFA by Saturday evening well in hand. :)

Holding on to that HFA after Dallas is another story for another day.

The most impressive part about Cabrals finish was how he opened his body like he was shooting far post, sold it, then finished near post.

That’s something we haven’t seen from him yet. A sign of progress? Hopefully.

That game made me happy until the haphazard last 20 minutes due to subs. Expected, but not fun.

I gave Kevin man of the match. For him, that game was HUGE! He drew a PK, and actually finished a goal!!!! (After botching a counter). But hey, that's 2 goals due to him, so I'll take it.

Efrain had his highs and lows but he's finally looking like he's settling in which is great.

Yeah, Dejan wanted the PK and Efrain ignored him and handed it to Sacha. I (like @skydog also thought that was weird even though skydog focused on Lletget).

Derrick Williams and Nick DePuy have been BEASTS the last two games! Williams in particular, glad he has returned to form. And maybe it's rubbed off on DePuy!

Three points, and onto this weekend! The next set of games after that are barnburners, so we need the three.

Solid win. Cabral with a solid finish and once again a 4-4-2 lineup with almost all my picks save 2 comes through for a win yet again so yay me lol. Cabral will all but certainly get another start next game. Vasquez likely returns next week as well because you don't wanna overwork Sacha unnecessarily. Does anyone have word on Villafana though? Is he done for the rest of the year or what? We can't see our best backline without him.

While I agree, and thought that he hit it harder than a lot of his other shots, I don't think that he will often have that much time to get a shot off. I wonder if the Galaxy are having him do the soccer equivalents of working with a shooting coach and taking 1000 shots a day.

I sure as hell hope they are working with Cabral and this is the result of that effort. He needs it. I'd hate to think this is just one of those times the broken clock is correct. We need Kevin to contribute and do it with consistency. Earn all that money he gets.

For those who haven't seen it - this is what it takes for Kevin Cabral to score a goal.

So who is going to head to Dignity this Saturday night with their significant other and make sure he scores again....?

Thanks for the highlights - those were a lot more fun than the second half of the game that I managed to see, which was rather boring. I loved the set piece attempt from Chicharito off Efrain's cross - wow.

Exactly. While I loved us scoring 3 goals my main takeaway was “it’s about time we got some breaks!” We just endured a five month stretch of the gods of good fortune turning their backs on us. Glad they finally favored us - both last week and this week.

Otherwise the 3 goals showed me little other than Houston’s defense is awful and Sacha continues to be great at PKs.

For the game I only saw a couple great shots, both by Chich. His full volley shot was impressive. True it was at the goalie but there was little room for him to send it anywhere else. The power he managed to generate gave us a chance for a lucky deflection. I remember a great header attempt or two as well.

And while I’m happy about Cabral’s goals (created and scored) they showed me nothing I didn’t already know. His best offensive trait all season has been his using his quickness to draw fouls in the final third. That is a real asset and probably worth say 3 or 4 goals in a typical season. It is especially effective against bad defenders who are more likely to panic and make rash tackles.

The best I can say for his other goal was that he didn’t choke. (Not choking isn’t nothing - pretty sure Grandsir would have shot wide ir over the bar.) But otherwise that may have bedn the easiest non-tap in goal in MLS history. First the Red Sea completely parted for him and then he was given an hour to pick his target and pass it in. I don’t know if his hesitation was composure or just the wheels turning slowly, But whatever - Kevin knocked it in, so kudos for that. But it tells us nothing about Kevin’s play under normal circumstances.

tkdr vers: All three of our goals were gifts from HOU. Nice to see but they said more about HOU’s bad defense than about our offense.

Maybe he wanted to propose after a playoff win but they started dating after 2017, and the poor guy just couldn’t wait any longer.

He’s setting up his contingencies all wrong. For example I’ve promised to quit drinking as soon as the Galaxy win the Cup on the back of a Grandsir 5 goal outburst.
