Chelsea don't need to maximize his value, and their situation right now should be some evidence of the value of their attacking depth, which they will be leaning on for the next few weeks at least. He does not have to go crazy to represent value to Chelsea to avoid getting shown the door at this club, he just needs to be somewhat available and somewhat productive. Which he has done before. This doesn't follow -- lots of players at top clubs aren't "going crazy" via their production, but still represent value to their club, and thus stick around. Hope all you want! That doesn't seem really anchored to reality, this is why these conversations tend to verge toward myopic in YA. To me, it seems like CP is probably hoping to get healthy, and to keep competing for trophies & making his money at the top club for which he has been a constant contributor when fit. The idea that he would, from his current perspective, find the grass greener at the likes of Everton or Newcastle seems ridiculous... he's just trying to get fit and contribute to Chelsea, would be my guess. But as always, who knows. Guess we'll see.
I get that the injury history is a cause for concern ... but it seems like the assembled BS audience here has concluded he is already going to get sold? Don't you think the thread of his demise is just slightly an overreaction?
Damn, didn't even realize Mount have 0 goal and 1 assist after 10 games and over 600 minutes played. Even the Chelsea faithful fanboys is turning against their golden boy. Sports is brutal, it's what have you done for me today.
Take away corner kicks and he's giving the same sort of production as last season. To be fair, nobody will find it easy to score regularly in this Tuchel system.
Chelsea are scoring less this year than they had at this point last year. And Mount only had 1 goal in the 1st 8 games in 20-21, but that's still not awesome. I haven't looked at the difference in competition they faced to start last season, but it looks like a 20 goal start vs. 16 this year. CP can come back and bang a few goals or assists and become the fan fave!
He will never be a fan favorite there. Not productive enough to overcome his lack of Englishness. Unlike Mason Mount, who is finally becoming not English enough to overcome his lack of productiveness.
Per BBC pre-match write up: “Christian Pulisic is nearing a return to training following an ankle injury but won't feature on Saturday.”
But the problem is no one is going to match the salary Chelsea pays him. Not with his injury history. And even if Chelsea are ready to sell him for $40 million (losing close to $30 million), if CP refuses the move because he'd be making half the money, they cannot force him out. At most they can do what HSV did with Wood: send him to train with the U23, freeze him out of everything, keep him training alone, etc. But that only has effect with the weak-minded. Like George Constanza when they boarded the door to his office, Bobby found a way in, always.
MLS clubs would match his current salary. They're paying Vela about as much when you consider taxes. The transfer fee though...
He will not get Chelsea type wages which is reportedly around 150k unless he goes to MLS, but maybe 100k a week... If Chelsea brings in top tiers attackers next summer and tells CP to look for a team, will he really rather tell them no just to collect the bigger wage? I think someone would offer 100k with a transfer fee of around 30M pound..Chelsea bough him for around 55M pound...That's a significant lost but his value will not rise if he's not playing regularly with an expiring contract. He doesn't strike me as the type who would rather collect his paycheck even if he's told he's about 4th choice among attackers.
talk about a Saturday tale .... CP not playing .... Chelsea w/o him have logged 5 so far on Norwich - Sargent ineffective ... and now Norwich with a red.
Right as I've said all along forget the foreign wankers and put out a proper English side. Works against championship level competition at least.
I guess Mount is back to God Like status among the Chelsea faithful. CHO has really taken his chances.....Not good for CP...He's gonna have to really hit the ground running once fit....He's gonna need to produce right away.
Unless his post-career plans are to do nothing that earns money and burn through his savings fairly quickly, most people in his situation would choose a change of scenery if it means regular PT. A million dollars isn't a million dollars when it's the 20th or 30th million. If he stays and sits, it will probably be because Chelsea doesn't mine wasting money.
This Norwich game would have been great for Pulisic to return. Like a shooting gallery in last 20 minutes with Krul the busiest guy for Norwich. Krul saves Mount’s not very good PK. But, Krul off the line too early, Mount retakes it and makes it 6-0.
Cho is a very good young winger and always looks good in space and isolated against a defender. Norwhich simply let him do his thing. He struggles trying to play out of midfield against a good press and trying to break down a low block. I don't think Tuchel trusts him against good competition yet.
Of course. https://www.football.london/chelsea-fc/fixtures-results/chelsea-player-ratings-vs-norwich-21950179 Chelsea player ratings vs Norwich: Hudson-Odoi electric, Mount brilliant, Chilwell superb Proper lads, those.
