roma fans still havent turned on mourinho and are accepting his scapegoats as their own. might also be some more unfortunate things going on since area roman calafiori seems to escape scorn despite being one of the worst defenders i have ever seen

I'm guessing Mourinho's schtick will be tolerate as long as the club remains in the top 4. But we're still very early in the season.

Good post. Reynolds had roughly a year of MLS ball behind him at RB before the move. The physical traits pop out at you but the experience was minimal which always makes a move to a relatively big club in Europe a gamble. Tessmann wasn't even all that great in the MLS before his move which made the transfer all the more surprising to me.... At any rate... Busio had the talent AND a lot of experience... Which was more important? Well... the Scally case argues for the former... but either way you have to expect that a relatively low % of YA transfers to top flight Europe are going to work out. Probably doesn't matter much if they are Yanks... These are tough leagues. Lots of great prospects from around the world fail to make it. These guys are still young so you never know... but it hasn't started out great for them.

Unfortunately, this is true. They hated Bradley for sure. I actually sort of enjoyed roma when he was there.

Too bad Chievo are no more

It was a comment from one guy. Before the game. He's not been good for them, so maybe can't argue with the sentiment. You still often distort things from fan forums, and you did here IMO.

Any rumors / what are the chances that he leaves in the winter window?

Whoa, I didn’t realize they literally don’t exist anymore. That’s sad.

Lot's of good points, but I would argue that Reynolds was further along than Yedlin was when leaving MLS even as he lacked the experience that Yedlin had. It will take some time, but I see the deficiencies that Reynolds has (positioning and physicality) as things that are relatively simple to overcome. Where he already excels (attacking ability and raw athleticism) are some of the areas that are the most important.

Yedlin's athleticism was there, but his actual quality was always questionable. While he did improve his understanding of the defensive side of the game, his gains in ability have been predictably small. Reynolds moved at a significantly younger age, and I think he is starting from a much higher place than Yedlin did.

Strong rumors of Mourinho trying to get himself fired from Roma because he has the Newcastle job waiting for him.

What a petulant jerk Mourinho is. Played a Serie A match with his youth team as the bench to show up the B team that got wrecked on Thursday. What a nightmare of a boss.

Didn’t Mourinho used to be known as a great players’ coach? What happened to that?

as someone who has watched reynolds at roma i still think a good manager could’ve used him with the first team against relegation fodder teams to spell karsdorp and build up bbb. he just isn’t that dire no matter how things get portrayed. they try and play a lb who legit is awful with no repercussions from the fans.

When he gets canned at Newcastle, I think inter will give him his last chance then he's finished.

I think he should go to Newcastle and then he can get fired there ... and they can skewer him and mount him up on Hadrian's Wall for all to see.

Jose the Jerk is a world class ass. The man had about 3 years of success and then it just went to his head and down the vortex he went, never to return.

Had they the guts, the Bradleys could have pooled their resources and taken over the team, installing themselves as coach and player-coach in the beginning. That would have been something to see.

Before the World Cup in 2014, in February, he was very dismissive of American soccer. I remember an interview where he basically said that the US system was based on a lack of understanding of the game, and that having people coming from the US to Europe to buy clubs was nefarious for the sport. Of course all this was in a Portuguese broadcast.

A week after that he got a juicy contract with Yahoo! and Comcast (Sky USA) and his tune changed entirely. He started praising the US system, talking about the chances of the squad under Klinsmann, paying respects to the MLS and its players, etc.

That job was his big break into the world of commentating the international game. Since then he's worked the Euros and the World Cups for diverse outlets.

Do you need any more? The guy just leaves scorched earth everywhere he goes. He seems to start the demolition campaign earlier and earlier with each successive stint though. This one hasn't even gotten through the first 6 months and he's already losing his sh!t.

Roma matches before the international break:

    W 10/27 @ Cagliari

    Su 10/31 v Milan

    Th 11/4 v Bodo/Glimt

    Su 11/7 @ Venezia

Assuming everything has calmed down, Reynolds should still get the B/G match, but it would have been nice to see him start the occasional mid-week Serie A match.

Reynolds left MLS a year or two too early. He's looked very tentative in his play, not sure where to be on the pitch, and his teammates are definitely not looking for him. He needs to go somewhere where he can log minutes and learn his craft.

Thing is, if Karsdorp gets hurt, he's at bat.
