3-1 Bodo. Some seriously shambolic defending by a bunch of Romans not named Reynolds.

6-1 Bodo. The only suspense left is exactly how epic the Mourinho post-game presser will be.

It's all been down the other flank. Feel bad for Reynolds as he hasn't really been that poor, but will probably be lumped in with the others. Best of the backline in a game like this doesn't say much.

Goal #5 he could have reacted a little quicker after Roma lost the ball in midfield, been a little more alert to the danger. But the others he seemed to be doing his job just fine. On offense, he has acres of space on the wing, but generally speaking no one is looking for him. Hopeful balls are just being lumped into Abraham. I don't get it.

One thing I love about games like this is the local fans. Probably half the town is at the game, and the joy they are showing as their guys are smoking Roma makes me happy. A night to remember for them.

A bunch of Roma players went over to the traveling fans section to get justifiably yelled and gestured at. I couldn't tell whether Bryan was among them.

Mourinho: It was my fault. I chose to play all these shitty players because I don't have enough good players.

The Bodo/Glimt players today would almost all love to have Roma contracts - even as second choice players.

A top half Serie A team shouldn’t get blown out by a Norwegian team - even with a rotated squad. Lose an occasional close game? That happens. A 6-1 defeat? That’s a deeper problem

I'm sure that behind closed doors he's a much more decent person than the impression we get from his appearances in public.

Mourinho is the grim reaper of youth development.

He is literally running out of top clubs to manage. None of the top 4 will hire him in England. I can't see any of the top clubs in Germany do it either. PSG? Theoretically could be, but doubt it. Spain- no way. Italy....I guess he is still seen fondly at Inter.......is he still?

What's left? China, US (ugh. hope not).....He'd probably love to be coach of Portugal national team.

He won't last at Roma more than 2 years, and likely will puddle jump after burning bridges this year.

Seriously hoping for a Jan loan for Brian, but not expecting it.

It’s been a trending theme for the last few years but The Special One is now The Has Been. It’s been a tremendous managerial career for Jose - a career that should be applauded and recognized - but just like players, coaches have a shelf life. He keeps going down the same path — talks a big game about winning / culture change, it works for a while , then results go downhill and he blames media and players, excuses come, players don’t back him, burns bridges, and eventually gets sacked.

They don’t have a midfield and a left back. Almost all goals from their left.

Prescient title for this thread. Roma fans crucified him today.

Hopefully, Bryan is singing "Always Look On The Bright Side of Life" now.

Actually, even before the game, there were comments like "Reynolds lo porterei solo per lasciarlo la" (Reynolds should be taken [to Norway] only to be left there).

For whatever reasons, mainly political, Italian fans overall seem to hate the USA (after WW2 it's known the CIA financed the big mafias like Cosa Nostra and Mano Nera through the Vatican and Masonic lodges like P2 to kill union leaders and stop the spread of communism, actually).

    Meh.

It's not that deep mate. They dislike Pallotta for his hires that chased out the club legends like De Rossi and Totti. They seem to not mind the Friedkins so far.

It's not an anti American thing - he's not shown he is up to this level.

When you say "even before the game" it implies they "crucified" him for the game. They did in the sense that they crucified the whole team. I didn't notice any player singled out post game in that thread, let alone Reynolds. But this is typical of how you try to portray things.

I've been following the scene in Roma for a long time. I was there when the American investor group took control of the club in 2011, then when Bradley was in Roma, and after when Friedkin bought it.

They've disliked everything all the way. The only player people wanted to leave there was our guy. It's not a coincidence. They're sick of the American owners, the American players, and the US fans who visit their forums.

    But believe what you want.

Occam's razor folks .... Reynolds is a young player ... the Great One is a Has Been. Mourinho the Magnificent has NEVER been a good coach for young players. Brian should never have gone to Italy. The best place for him to go and develop to the next level is/was Germany or Holland. Hopefully he can take his work permit and get somewhere else. Even when they can Jose it will not get much better. Hopefully Ricardo will learn this as well. Gianluca is the anomaly not the norm. Sooner or later he will need to move north as well. Italy is not a place for young players that are not Italian. Just the way it is.

The thing with Bryan (and Tanner Tessmann) is that neither of them were established here when they moved to Italy. These kinds of moves are just naturally riskier.

It's stating the obvious that the track record for MLS-based players who move to the high levels of Europe after becoming TOP MLS players is quite good. Busio falls into the category. Davies, Adams, Steffen, Aaronson, McKenzie, Miazga, Yedlin, Harrison all fall into this category. I am bullish on Buchanan making it at Brugge. Vines was good, not great in MLS but he was an established pro and he's gonna do well with Antwerp. I think a bunch of these players would have done well in Serie A after leaving MLS (albeit at a lower level than Roma).

Reynolds was not close to the level of these players at the time of moving abroad. He obviously needed more work. Moving early can work out but a player needs to be in a right environment (like Scally, who moved early to a club that believed in him and set a plan for him) or in an environment where there are smart loans (like Richards).

This move reminds me of Yedlin to Tottenham but it's a little more concerning because Yedlin was much further along than Reynolds and was able to land on his feet quickly after getting out of Spurs.

Positives- for giving up 6 goals, he wasn’t really at fault on any!!

negatives- he just looks like a lost little deer out there. Unsure where to go. Timid with the ball and defense. Playing for Jose won’t help.

The Roma fans hate him lol. let’s hope he finds a loan this winter.
