First half ends at a well deserved 0-0. I wonder if anyone will actually look dangerous in the second half.
They subbed three at the half. I am quite surprised that Lloyd did not come in for Morgan or at all for that matter. Morgan has been ineffective.
Great build up followed by a HORRIBLE shot over the top by Mewis. This is getting old. The players should at least hit the goal. If you don't hit the goal you cannot score!
God. Those stupid drums are irritating. And the US does it again. Good buildup followed by total failure and the corner produced the first good shot by the US and the second corner results in a series of worthless back passes. A free kick by Pugh was about as dangerous as a typical Golden Retriever. The US in possession looks like the are just trying to possess the ball. Every time they look forward they find a way to screw it up.
Kruger makes a great touch to Pugh and Pugh drives to the end line and makes a great cross to the center of the top of the six. However there is no one making the near post or central run. There is only a single lonely white jersey looking lost in the far post area.
Actually I see that as the crosses being pretty good but there is no one making the hard runs. You know those runs that actually result in goals. The runs seem wrong of off or just not made.
The passing of the torch tonight from Heath and Rapinoe to Smith and Pugh? Morgan looked like the torch could pass from her also -- although I don't know who will take it.
There were some moments there when I had some flashbacks to Wambach's retirement match in this one. Anyone else? But, overall, I think it was a fun, entertaining match. Yeah, the USWNT wasn't sharp enough on finishing, but South Korea ain't no pushover. They didn't sit back, and the US wasn't able to capitalize off some mistakes by South Korea. The South Korea goalkeeper had a good match, too. Also I'm still waiting for that Sauerbrunn goal. I enjoyed watching Smith in particular. As for passing the torch, I think O'Hara is not what she used to be either. I was surprised to see Fox come in for Krueger instead of O'Hara.
