Don't complain to me. I am not the casting director.

The books (especially the early ones that this series is based on) were a collection of previously published short stories (the first book) and then Novellas (the second two books of the original trilogy). Two further full length novels were written in the series, then a couple of prequel novels. In five hours of TV they are yet to get to the stage of the end of the first short story (they did cover another short story as well that was written as an introduction to the first book). We usually complain that adaptions of books leave a lot of stuff out but this one has added a lot of stuff in and the plot is moving along too slowly in my opinion.

It was ok. There was also a follow up to it that covered Dune Messiah and Children of Dune. If you want a Dune experience I would still recommend the original novel as the best.

I tried reading Dune, and listening to the audio book. I just couldn't get into it.

Melbourne emerges from lockdown after reaching 70% of the 16+ population having had 2 doses of an approved vaccine (Atsra Zenica, Pfiser or Moderna). Victoria is the second state to reach this level following NSW which is at 83%. Emerging from lockdown doesn't mean all restrictions have been lifted. It just means you don't need a valid reason to leave home. There are still a lot of restrictions on retail and hospitality and a few other businesses and they will be further eased when the 80% mark is reached in about 2 weeks time.

NSW had previously announced that international travellers who have been fully vaccinated and recorded a negative test within 72 hours of arrival wont need to quarantine from November 1, with Victoria following suit. The other states are a few weeks behind on vaccinations (the emphasis was first NSW, then Victoria as that's where outbreaks occurred). Queensland has announced that borders will reopen to vaccinated people from Dec 17.

It's not an easy read. First time I read it I found myself constantly referring to the reference material in the appendix. It's pretty complex with not a lot background provided in the actual text at times.

I found Dune pretty good but some of the sequels could have used the heavy hand of an editor.

6 by the original author, and I've lost count of how many his son co-wrote with Kevin Anderson.

My favorite was God Emperor of Dune — 3000 year long plot with a worm as the main character. Riveting

    Ha!

This is a good example of the bad editing problems. Book 3 is dull till Leto goes to the sand trout farm. Finally some action! Then a doorstop of a book 4 which takes forever to reach the obvious ending. It all could have been one book half as long. Whereas book 5 had much better suspense/action with Miles Teg

The GOP strategy is to follow where their voters take them to be honest. If that's against the vaccines, so be it.
