I expected her to be signed by another top club

Didn't someone in this discussion a few weeks back claim that Pulisic isn't injury prone and then went on to detail why?

Any way you slice it, he is often injured and this goes way back to his time at Dortmund.

Can't wait for Lukaku and Werner's ankle and hamstring injuries to be blamed on Pulisic's ankle and hamstring injuries by the Shed End.

I found the post I was referring to! It's from a month ago, so take it for what it's worth.

But this is what stuck in the back of my head: "his injury issues are overblown."

You just can't argue with 335 days and 38 games missed due to injuries.

Dang, maybe Christian is timing his comeback right after all. Chelsea now down 2 men on the front line.....if he can just get healthy for this weekend, he could get an extended run in.

It's a long season with many games, lots of players going to get injured.

He will get his run of games.

Some may not like it but it goes along with Mark Cuban's perspective against international basketball.

It's the teams/clubs who carry all the liability/risk as they are the ones paying these players tens of millions. You can say all you like about Chelsea being cautious here but they're the ones paying him millions per year.

Doesn’t sound like he’s close to returning this weekend.

Who cares what Mark Cuban thinks, and what does an owner of a team that has a majority of tis players developed on taxpayer dollars via NCAA have to do with soccer?

Chelsea and any other top club can whine all they want, at the end of the day they have ZERO say. The USMNT has and can call up any player they want and have him examined by team doctors if they so desire, and there is ******** all any club can do about it.

I don't care much for the USMNT, I think USSF is a corrupt and despicable lot, but those are the rules and clubs don't really have a say.

Technically they don't have a say, but in reality they are often consulted and not always completely ignored. I guess if you're just calling him up to have your doctor look at him (waste of roster spot BTW), then who cares.

No one thinks they should be ignored... that would make no sense.

The initial point/s near the start of this digression were that Chelsea should play a part in keeping him away from US duty, "not let him" play against Mexico, and perhaps give CP some "ultimatum" based on his health, etc. Well, that doesn't make sense either, and much more importantly is against FIFA regulations.

It's also a pretty quick way to get a player looking for the door... I mean, a guy is on the edge of fitness, not yet game fit, maybe. But if you have a player you would put in a game if you were playing, and very strongly try to keep him from playing in a huge international match when the rest of your stars are off with their national teams? That's a pretty good way to get a guy's agent to make inquiries.

The way it's going, I wouldn't be surprised if Werner/Lukaku were to be back on the pitch before CP.

    Update on the injury situation:

    https://www.hellwegradio.de/artikel...h-verletzungspech-nach-loesungen-1108272.html

The victory of Chelsea FC against Malmö FF in the Champions League is almost secondary. Two important attackers are out of the team of coach Thomas Tuchel for the time being, including [German] NT player Timo Werner.
    [...]
In the 4-0 (2-0) against Malmö FF, Romelu Lukaku from Belgium and the German Timo Werner went down injured. "Romelu Lukaku twisted his ankle, and with Timo Werner it's something muscular. I suspect that they will be absent for a few days," said the German coach Thomas Tuchel shortly after the final whistle.
    [...]
After just over 20 minutes, Lukaku couldn't go on after a foul by Lasse Nielsen. Italian European Champion Jorginho converted the penalty, while German international Kai Havertz came on for Lukaku. But the bad news didn't stop there. Werner grabbed his thigh without outside interference. Tuchel had to react again.
    [...]
[T]he Londoners have six games scheduled in the next 17 days. They could use their star strikers during this time. "So far we have been spared bad luck with injuries, because only Christian Pulisic is missing. Now we have to think of solutions. There are no excuses, we have already won games without them," said Tuchel.

    Reading the vibe here …

Goodbye Christian, we hardly knew ye. Like a shooting star he burned brightly but ever so briefly. (sniff)

Maybe he will have a second act, like Wanda Jackson.

I'm sure he will, if he can stay healthy. Unfortunately we're still waiting on evidence he's capable of that.

I think the thing is that this issues have existed since time and immemorial are nothing new. They certainly didn’t originate with Christian Pulisic, nor is he the only player currently in such a situation.

One big difference with international basketball is that international soccer is just a way bigger deal and players are way more invested in playing. Whereas in international basketball the top players regularly skip the biggest events. That almost never happens in soccer because everyone desperately wants to play in a World Cup, Euro Cup, etc.

The bigger issue is that UEFA and FIFA both keep piling on more games so that they can increase revenues, and with no thought as to how it impacts players. But they’ll never get rid of the games because they don’t want to lose the revenue.

None of what you wrote invalidates the reality that the clubs/teams shoulder the majority of the liability/investment.

I really hope Pulisic coming back to training soon.

Lukaku with a twisted ankle, and Timo with a hamstring; both should be out for some weeks I would imagine. Two attacking spots just opened up for a series of games.

Kai, CHO, Ziyech, and Pulisic should get plenty of minutes.

The way I've heard people talking on Talk Sport this AM was that they'll all be out through the international window and rested until the window is over and then should be back for the games that follow. I have a feeling we won't see CP in the states for the qualifiers, but I'm not sure he'd be fit for any of those games if he's been out as long as he has. He's back to preseason fitness at this point having been out since September.
