Not if further away from goal includes winger. Still, limited sample size at CM or SS. You think he'll keep that rate up if he plays 50+ games there?
I'd say they might be closer physically to 24 year old, but mentally I'd maintain perhaps most 21 year olds are closer to 18 year olds
The modern AM needs a high work rate, much higher than the pure striker or even the generic forward. That's another thing that fits Sarge to a T. He can run the full 90.
Nope. He means - or should mean - run around a lot in a clearly defined pattern to lead the press and stop the opposition counter at source. Not getting injured is a help.
Except that a 6 plays at the base of the midfield, right in front of his own defenders Josh, and other like him, are 8s who play as 6s in front of the other team's defenders
A 6 is going to have to cut out passing lanes and anticipate where play is going and what danger will arise from that in order to prevent the back line from getting compromised. That would be an extremely difficult ask of him at this point in his career. What he is used to in his pressing role much higher up the field is closing down big areas of space and limiting the options of defenders who are building out so that the play behind him is more predictable.
This discussion will remind some of us, when many BS posters thought that the only contribution that McBride could make to the USMNT was as a center-back. GTFO with this stuff.
With what stuff exactly? -Like exactly- Sargent humilated himself last game as a cf. He will sit the pine for a good portion of the rest of the season. He has 0 instinct in front of goal. It's about saving his career. Or can you offer one single insight as to how he is a dangerous CF? Oh, and by dangerous, I mean EPL CBs that don't laugh at him.
As always, check the labels but https://understat.com/player/7295 suggests he's matching his xG -- I don't know if in his case that's a good thing or bad. Is he doing as well as expected or should he get and score more chances in general? I'm pretty sure the open goal miss is the purple circle on the right side just before the PK box. It's marked as a .24 chance but I'd think it would be more like .76...anyway, I'll drop it for now. Long story short, I like his heart and hustle and think he's carve out roles both at club and international level, but IMO he ain't got that killer instinct to ever be a top class striker. Look at Pepi for a better example of what a instinctual, clear minded striker can do
We will see what Pepi can do on a top 3 league side soon enough. We all hope it's "scoring many goals". But for now, Sargent remains our only top 3 league striker, and our most highly valued. Will be interesting to see if he gets another start Saturday, or if farke sits him for a few games. On the one hand, he has zero league goals and missed an important freebee. On the other, the team looks decent with him on the field and got two good results the last two weeks, with Sargent playing a key role. As usual, this site seeks the blazing hawt takes, which are usually wrong. I'm just glad I'm here to provide some semblance of reason and sense.
Who has yet to score at a Top 3 league. As per value, right now the most expensive guy we got who plays striker for his club (sometimes) is Timothy Weah, valued at $13.2m by Transfermarkt. Sarge is $8.8m, Pefok $5.5m, and Hoppe $4.95m.
He had like 6 goals last year, one of top on his poor team. I don't even particularly like him as a player but let's not go over the top.
13 goals in like 72 games. More worryingly, a lack of significant improvement from 18-21 years old. That does not bode well for a sudden leap 21-24 years old.
