Oh yeah, does this mean that Jeff Bradley is going to start pimping for the Metros in his columns?

    A Nike conspiracy????

I bet he's just pissed the fire went to puma. He probably thinks the swoosh brings out his eyes or something.

Bradley was a college coach in New Jersey. The guy has the right to want to return home. By the way, I wouldn't mind if the Fire could also send Armas home too while they are at it.

We'll consider it. While we're at it, send Mathis over here so we reunite the Georgia connection (that way they can carpool home together). And I am sure that Brad Davis would love it here with his old P40 buddy Beasley.

Everyone is forgetting that this has happened before in MLS, Rongen from Tampa Bay to New England for a first round draft pick.

MLS will do anything to have a winner in New York. It is so disgusting. What galls me even more is that Metrostars fans think they deserve this because they live in New York.

I will be even more satisfied when the Metros continue to lose.

it's so sad that, even though the metrostars haven't won anything, chicago fans, or may be just one poor fan, thinks the league is conspiring against them.

By reading some of these posts, you would think Bradley is being held by gunpoint and forced to go back to his hometown to coach NJ against his will.

When OZ was dumped, I'm sure Bradley made some overtures through some "intermediaries" that he would be interested in taking over the Metros. The only way there would be a conspiracy is if he left the Fire and they got nothing in return.

Actually, most Metro fans live in New Jersey -- I think it was something like 60%-40% last time the FO bothered to check. Could be nearly 70-30; few Long Islanders trek to the Swamp on a regular basis; few from Westchester and points north.

Not that this removes the foul taste of bile from your mouth. Bon appetit. :)

    All Bow To Bob

That's right fellow Hobokenite (i moved recently). It will be another chapter in the sordid soap opera that is the Metrostars - does Mathis need a therapist? Will Subotnik come back to MLS with a rival NY team? Why is beer $7 at the Jint? Can Tim, Mike, and Steve ever find the last piece of the defensive puzzle?

    (in prophetic abbot tone)
Bob is the answer, Bob knows all and makes the world right. We will bow to Bob - mightly savior of the swamp monkeys who will bring them out from darkness and empty seats to neutral site championships and new shoes in Harrison.

Bring us the Bob... and throw in a Wolff while you're at it.

Erm, it happened in the NFL. The Bucs got John Gruden, who was gainfully employed by (and under contract to) the Raiders at the time. They had to give up draft picks to get him.

And in the version I heard of this deal, the Metro are giving up Rodrigo Faria and a conditional draft pick. If so, I'm not so sure this'll work out that well for Metro. I don't know any coach who can put the ball in the back of the net. (And if they give up Faria and Mathis stays unfit/out of focus, I won't know any Metro who can, either).

Not to mention Bill Parcells leaving the New England Patriots.

    It happens.

Agreed, but it doesn't mean we have to like it.

Pinella's real gripe was w/ Seatle management but that's boreball & I doubt anyone aside from you & I cares.

One of the few constants that I've grown to appreciate w/ the front ofc is that they typically are conservative and that we don't see a guy leaving one team to go to another whilst under contract from the 1st party because the other has more money or is in a bigger market(way too common in the EPL & NCAA football alike). I recall Tottingham fans openly geering 4 the opponents coach to come their way, which he later did.

You know what's really funny? The article had mentioned the Mutts have an extra allocation 4 dumping Big Mama on a Saudi team 10/7. Good luck digging sand out of your vulva. Let me see, your malcontent pie hole made you give up life in the big apple 4 Osama's fmr stomping grounds :D

So Americans should just pick a crap team instead?

Alright. All of us will just find a relegation fodder club and support them. Thanks for the logic.

On the actual topic of the thread, don't think that Oakland is crying that Tampa had to give them some high picks for Gruden. This may not turn out so bad for Chicago depending on the compensation.

How about picking a team that has an American on it? You certainly can't be gravy-training with that method. I'm much more interested and enjoy seeing games with an American in it. Just picking a team because there good really doesn't make sense. No emotional/historical connection with the team.

I would expect significant compensation for the Fire for losing Bradley. Faria is not enough for Bradley. Maybe in conjunction with some draft picks. Some combination of player and draft picks being traded.

It wouldn't make sense for Jefferies to switch teams, but I never thought Bradley would go to New Jersey. I would want Sarachan.

The MLS has major credibility problems with referee scandals, obvious favoritism for certain teams with allocations, and other issues. More and more people think it is not run on the level.
Of course, if someone points out that it was mathematically impossible for New England to get most of the stars from the Miami Fusion, they are "whining" or "conspiracy theorists." You can't disagree publicly with some people without ad hominems flying.
It will be interesting to watch the Fire ruin itself with the salary cap while LA and New England seem to have no such problem. LA was able to get Ruiz and stay intact, while we had to trade away Diego Guttierrez. This is called fairness.
Whitfield and Wolff lose entire seasons when attacked by players deliberately trying to injure them, and no suspensions are handed out. Defford even laughed on national TV after Wolff was cut down. But Razov is suspended for three games for a cheap shot but one that caused no injury. If he wanted to hurt Heaps he could have done it. Franchino's flying kick in yesterday's game was far more dangerous than Razov's stomp. No card, no suspension, no nothing. Having your coach go to a rival when he is under contract here does not even meet the smell test.
From the point of view of the league Chicago is in a political grave, stuck in Naperville and blocked from building its own stadium. Chicago has the most passionate fans and the hard core will support them at a certain level even after the league has engineered the decline. So stick them with a lousy team while the goodies go elsewhere.
Just my opinions. This really smells!

Coaches moving happens. Coaches moving from one team owned by a person X to another team owned by person X raises questions: would this coach have moved if both teams weren't owned by person x? Answer: not likely.

This stuff pisses me off as well, but in the real world, LA and NY would have much bigger budgets than KC. I'd rather have things jiggered a little bit to give LA a better team, then have a free market system where their budget is several times the Wizards. With five champions in 7 years, there isn't a whole lot to complain about.

You forget the El Matador season? Him leaving freed up a bit of space. And picking up Luis at the cost of losing Mathis isn't something us LA fans really want to talk about.

About Ruiz, A) he's on a loaner and B) Ruiz wasn't exactly a proven star before he came. Nobody was crying bloody hell about LA picking up Ruiz during the pre season.

Well, we all have an idea on who has the inside leg for MLS 2003 Pet Team. But look on the bright side. LA finally beat an MLS Pet team for the final after Chicago failed in 2000 and LA failed last year.

So if the Metro's get a few deals go their way, wouldn't this be the second time? After all 2000 was a pretty good year for them (Mathis).

The Wizards a "Pet team" I would bet my life you don't even believe that. The Wizards are the truest champions in sports history.
