Weah wasn't in the team for the second WCQ match, either. I suppose that's not surprising for a number of reasons, but anyway -- this space may be worth watching, but Liberia has apparently already been mathematically eliminated from 2022 contention (CAF is currently in the second of three qualifying rounds) so it seems most likely this is off the table for now.

Anrie Chase, an '04 center back and senior at Shoshi High School in Fukushima, was called up to a Japan Under-22 team which will compete in the AFC U23 Asian Cup Uzbekistan 2022 Qualifiers (Japan will play 2 matches at home in Fukushima against Hong Kong and Cambodia). The squad contains a number of players already established in the J-League, including Shonan Bellmare fullback Taiga Hata, who reportedly has an American grandfather.

Chase's plans for going pro are TBA, but he has trained with both Borussia Mönchengladbach and AZ.

I should specify -- I was guessing that Weah isn't gonna rush into a commitment with the Liberian MNT at this point. YNTs could be another matter, of course. And I could be wrong!

A correspondent who has a lot of information about their program informed me yesterday that Rilloraza is also American. (There's not a ton of info about him online that I could easily find though there are a few bits here and there.) For reasons I can't explain, they've been having trouble setting up a BigSoccer account but I hope they figure it out -- they know a lot that I think would be of interest here!)

Presumably we'd try and call him up for the upcoming U20 camp we are having in November, no?

I don’t think it’s a given that he’s good enough. He may make it though. Those last spots are always hard to predict and a matter of personal preference.

Texas-raised 17yo CB Anrie Chase made his debut (and may be provisionally cap-tied?) as the youngest player for a Japan U22 team in its first match in qualifying for the AFC U23 Championship (and eventually building a squad for the 2024 Paris Olympics), crushing an overmatched Cambodian side 4-0. His dad (a USAF) sounds awfully proud of his progress after 5 years of organized soccer.

This is the kind of tournament where some guys may quietly get provisionally cap-tied. More info is here -- doesn't look like all the squads have been announced yet:

The Qualifiers are scheduled to place from November 5-14, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

EDITED: I just confirmed from the tournament regulations that the winners of each of the four groups in the qualifying round will advance to the CONCACAF U20 finals. Of course I have no idea about any of these teams, but as hosts, maybe the DR/Azcona has a good chance to advance here.

Real Monarchs' Fernando Delgado was initially listed with the Mex U17s today. The FMF's main account (Spanish language) removed and replaced his name with another. They still have him listed on the roster on their English account, likely just forgetting to update it:

Things not entirely clear but it appears Delgado was called up by both US and Mex U17s, and is going with the US for this window.

No Araujo. He’s Mexico’s best RB IMO. They continue to not give senior team call ups to these Mexican-American kids that they convinced to play for them. When do they start to consider this when making a decision?

Chasing down tweets that then get deleted is tiring.
